kensington with exclusive details. >> reporter: a letter was sent out to the parents of the other first graders writing in part, this letter is a reminder to please check your child's school bag every day and remove anything, that does not belong the at a school. today, one of your child's classmates a first grader brought an item to school that we believe is illegal it was during lunch that school officials say a first grader showed off drugs to his classmates. some of them noticed what was happening and then spoke up. >> we have two other first graders that actually acted quickly and net filed adults, one notified, a noon time aid that works in the lunchroom and other one notified a dare program school philadelphia police officer that was here for the dare program. >> reporter: police were notified in the special victims unit responding to the scene. they did take the first grader into their custody and will be handling the investigation moving forward. although the drugs appeared to be heroin further testing is needed to confirm that suspicion. parents were understandably

concerned tuesday afternoon saying what happened here could have been a lot worse. >> if it does, because it makes sure that with other kid, it could happen to them, they will think it is candy maybe overdose. >> reporter: the investigation will continue into figuring out exactly how this first grader was able to get his hand on this apparent heroin in the the first place. we're in west kensington, matt rivers for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". now to burlington county where a school bus where 12 children on board crashed in the side of the house today. chopper three over lenape court in mount laurel, in of those children was hurt but neighbors do tell us that the bus driver suffered a medical emergency of some kind. he was taken to the hospital to get check out. breaking news right now chopper three is over a backyard that is falling away from the delaware river. take a look at this scene from east not street, in florence burlington county. you can see the ground has

given way here and it is dangerously close to a pair of homes. apparently a drainage pipe under ground has been leaking and then yesterday's heavy rains led to even more of that yard to fall away. we will keep an eye on that. a cbs-3 iteam exclusive tonight a worker is recovering have after getting shock while picking up trash. metal trash can came in contact with the electrified light pole in front of the home on appletree street in center city. "eyewitness news" investigative reporter walt hunter is live as i theteam asked the street department for some answers walt. >> reporter: jessica, most of us would never think twice about touching or lean against a light pole here in center city but a trash worker on the 2,000 block of apple tree street right behind me this morning came in contact with the light pole, wound up getting shocked and winding up in the hospital because that light pole was electrically charged. only cbs-3 "eyewitness news"

cameras were on the scene as peco crews tested this light pole for a electrical current disconnecting wires, shortly after a streets department worker collecting with the crew like this one was jolted when his metal can contacted the electrified light pole. >> this morning he got a jolt that went through his whole body. >> reporter: local 427 union president, charles car on thein was with the injured worker as he was taken to hahnemann hospital by medics suffering non-life threatening injuries. >> he felt jolts going through his body. that is when we got asked to come on the scene. >> i think it is very dangerous. i know that a lot of kid even mine, climb up on that pole, so it is a little scary to hear that. >> reporter: when we asked peco officials about how it happened they referred us to city officials explaining maintenance of light poles was their responsibility. a spokesperson for the streets department, responding with an e-mail that reads in part, we suspect that this was

a defect in the aging high pressure sodium, hp thes light fixture, these are typically 240 volts, the spokesperson adding that in the past decade, they have replaced more than 5700 aluminum poles with non-conductive fiberglass poles, but more than 6,000 metal poles remain. meanwhile, just down the the street directly across from the school and playground we found this light pole. one cover totally missing partially sealed with plastic which a child could easily reach through touching live wires, inside. >> the covering on it is so short, it could affect children as well. it is awful. >> reporter: the injured worker has been released from the hospital, streets department officials tell us that they will be out here bright and early tomorrow replacing the pole to the lights to this street, including the damaged one uncovered by the iteam. by the the the way they say if you have a suspicious light

pole that may be dangerous on your street or you see one call 311. live from center city, i'm walt hunter, for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". an under ground explosion shatters windows and rattles nerves in wayne delaware county. eyewitness cam video shows flames from north wayne avenue. peco says an underground cable caught fire last night causing fumes to build up and then ignite an explosion. one restaurant owner describe the blast. first instinct i thought a bomb went off. our buildings started to shake that is how loud it was. i a saw a big spark of fire coming from below the street and everyone started running. >> peco is working to restore dozens of businesses left without power from the blast. new at 6:00 o'clock tonight governor of new jersey chris christie says that the you had should require cuba to return the convicted killer of a state trooper to new jersey, before restoring diplomatic

help tonight as they try to identify and locate two men seen in this surveillance video. detectives say that they followed a man home from a club and then robbed him with what appeared to be an ak-47. this happened in the 300 block of fifth street, in society hill. and, they took that man's wallet, and iphone and then drove off into this suv. if you know who those men are you are asked to call philadelphia police. well, the public help is also needed to find this strangling suspect. he is 38 year-old omar lewis of darby, lewis faces homicide charges in the easter sunday death of 36 year-old andre a roberts. police found her dead inside of southwest philadelphia home some one stopped by the 12th district and told police they received a voice mail telling him that roberts was dead in her apartment. well we all know what they say april showers bring may showers, but everything is, kind of already in bloom on independent mall. it is a gorgeous tuesday

after the rains moved through last night but it might not stay dry are long. meteorologist kathy orr is on the sky deck with the first forecast. >> jessica, wind has pick up. we are talking about wind gusting to 30, 35 miles an hour and late this afternoon it seems to be swirling on the sky deck. those wind will continue. right now temperatures are around the region and steady in the 60's with the exception of the poconos. a lot of mixing in the atmosphere with these windy conditions and that is why we have had steady temperatures. our wind are more southeasterly right now. philadelphia is sustained at 21 miles an hour. that is the high of the the day as far as sustained wind or sustained at 15 in the poconos, 16 in atlantic city which much higher gusts. storm scan three you can see clear skies right now some showers to the west, they will die after sunset, and we are looking at an area of low pressure over the great lakes and that continues to spin bringing in the threat of showers, and during the day tomorrow, even some thunder showers. the these are going to be diurnal in nature and what

gets lower on the horizon in atlantic city. storm scan three, it is all dry and it will stay that way. look at the radar you say wow, those showers are getting really close. what will go on tonight? nothing. it will stay bone dry and these are diurnal showers they are popping up in the heat of the day and once the sunsets they will be fade ago way. we have a upper level low pressure system dominating our weather for next couple days. flow around it counterclockwise bringing cold air and snow showers. we will see bands of rain showers. this frontal boundary will move through tomorrow and we will see some showers moving through and behind it, much cooler air. for the afternoon some showers, some thunder showers, because of the upper levels of the atmosphere we have had some colder air and that means even the chance of some pea sized hail. here's the timing of the showers, in the heat of the day, lehigh valley will see some rain between noon and 1:00. northern and western suburbs between one and 2:00 along i-95 corridor, between two and
