overbrook. police say that the officer was walking his dog when the suspect approached with the gun. >> he saw the the weapon in the assailant's hand. he drew his weapon and engage the assailant firing eight times. >> that suspect fled the the scene on foot. the officer was not injured and it is not known if that suspect was shot. we will update this breaking story in a live report coming up at 1:00 o'clock. also breaking news right new one person is rushed to the hospital after that suv right there crashed into a wall outside of the church, in north philadelphia. "eyewitness news" live on the scene there you can see damage done to that vehicle at north 21st and somerset streets. we're working to find out what cause that had crash and how this driver is doing. in other news, a pair of homes are teetering on the edge of the the giant sing hole forcing homeowners to evacuate. the the erosion started two years ago and after soaking showers this week, the situation got much worse. justin finch joins us from florence, new jersey with more justin, good morning. >> reporter: ukee, good morning. worse indeed. just yesterday they were told to evacuate their homes by experts and engineers. they were able to leave. this morning they are hoping something can be done to save their houses. these cracks cut so close to these two florence township house that he is engineers advised them to evacuate on wednesday. >> when we walk away we could walk away for good and losing everything. >> this is our home. we have put a lot of effort into this. i put a lot of love in this house. >> reporter: what was once a delaware river view for odells and their next door neighbor now deem an imminent danger. >> when lives are at stake we don't take any chances. >> reporter: about two years ago odells notice significant erosion and it lit they had to call in township and burlington county officials. >> we reached out for some help we were basically told that it was, our issue,

mother nature. >> reporter: monday came those he have i rains. odells say ground gave way, unearthing a drainage pipe that was pouring water. county capped the pipe but danger still remain. >> the hill side is in the stable. the water obviously is continuing to come out of the face, and that at the some point in time there could ab digsal failure. >> reporter: you you are looking live at these cones outside of these homes on east front street underneath those cones is access to that sewage pipe underneath both of these properties here. is that pipe a cause? it is too soon to say. we have more investigation that need to be done to determine the exact cause of what happened back there. we are told nature could play a big role in that as well. the meantime the odells tell us they are hoping another heavy storm does not roll in because that could cost them their homes. we are live, i'm justice continue finch for cbs-3 "eyewitness news".

lets goat traffic and weather together ape cooler day to day katie. >> absolutely, erika that is for sure. we can expect to see much cooler weather setting up for us today. we want to show you a fiery scene that was caused by yesterday's wet fur we can show you the video here. a branch felon to some wires attached to a home on atlanta court last night. the the wires came down on the shed and that shed just went up in flames. very scary. two shed nearby also caught the fire, but thankfully, we can report that in one was injured. now, that said, we have certainly started to see a significant drop on our thermometer readings. yesterday, man did we over achieve. we hit 72 degrees at 2:00 p.m. and by 6:00 p.m. we had already dropped 16 degrees, so obviously that front crossed through between that time span. 56 degrees by 6:00. at this point we're in the mid 40's. at least by 2:00 a.m. we have dropped a solid 25 degrees and now at 28 degrees since we hit that high yesterday. so much, much cooler air in place for us. we will have a very difficult time rebounding.
