the next couple every days, since we will slowly get warmer and warmer and warmer, but still be below average so we were bombing out here today, tomorrow morning, but we want to show you pretty shot here out in the live neighborhood network 36 degrees outside mitt many township high school, clouds facing east, looking toward the south where the clouds are beginning to bill owe there look at the satellite loop, pocket of clear skies that's it what we will find everywhere, clear skies storm scan remains basically just empty for now. meantime, because of the very thin vale of clouds, we do not have a prayer of hitting these to the record lows here today. but, there is a breeze outside. and that's going to make it feel awfully close, to the record territory here. feels like below freezing

everywhere, we said earlier freeze watches and warnings are in effect, northwest half of our area, in the warning. and south eats half of the area, in the watch. but, as the day goes on, specking temperatures to ease up sun to shine brighter and brighter. i expect the daytime high to hit about 56 degrees, we will probably get to that point around 4:00 p.m. or so. vittoria? >> thank you, good morning everyone rush hour is bubbling unfortunately as you notice behind me, we definitely have some other things that we have to worry about, as well. let's get outside take a take a look first at the schuylkill. i know it doesn't look like much but accident situation looks like yep completely pushed to the shoulder here, on the westbound side of the schuylkill notice, tow truck still compromising the right-hand lane. westbound 76 as you make your way beyond the area of gladwynn. this is causing a major delay. and i know this shot doesn't do much just continues considering it is one lane only we're definitely feeling the heat of rush hour, and now, residual and gaper

traffic as a result of the accident. i have to give a shout out to lou didonato, hit me up on twitter and said there is disable vehicle on the schuylkill expressway approaching the vine street expressway. thank you for your eyewitness account. it is out there. it is compromising the shoulder as well as partially the left-hand lane. westbound schuylkill approaching the vine street expressway, watch out for this activity building, as women. ukee? >> thank you. close call for one every philadelphia's finest, bike patrol officer investigating possible narcotics violation shot so is the suspect. "eyewitness news" reporter jan carabeo at police headquarters right now to tell you more about it, jan? >> reporter: ukee, police say this officer extremely lucky shot in the arm taken to the hospital he'll be okay. the suspect also taken to the hospital hahnemann university hospital, no word on his condition yet this morning. philadelphia showed up at force thursday night after

one of their brothers in blue is shot in the line of duty. >> we are just very, very lucky, he's very lucky given the circumstances. >> eight year veteran of the force, david shot just after 10:00 o'clock, in west philadelphia. he was on bike patrol, with his partners at the time. >> as they were checking on a man, inside the van for possible narcotics violations at wilton street at girard avenue, police say the suspect backed up, made a u-turn and got away. officer kostick then found the suspect near 52nd and master streets. police say the gunfire errupted, in the mid many of a discussion. >> kostick is still on his like. the male turns to him and says, and i quote, i don't want to have to do this but then he fires at officer kostick, striking him in his right arm so kostick returns fire striking the male. >> that suspect was found injured at the 5,000 block of master street. >> obviously we do not know what was on this guy's mind. to have someone say something like that, to fire at a police

officer like that, makes you wonder, gives you cause. >> shot in the arm, the officer taken to pen presbyterian in stable condition. police say he will recover. >> in good spirits, he'll be okay we're thankful for that. again, just underscores how dangerous this job can be. >> now, police aren't releasing much information about this suspect. they have not identified limb. also not giving a reason why he may have opened fire. all they're saying right now is that they found a weapon on the scene we've not gotten end an update on his condition either. we'll stay on top of this story. for now reporting live outside of philadelphia police headquarters, jan carabeo "eyewitness news". >> thank you. also, following developing story this morning delivery man with a gunshot wound crashes his car during a get away and is killed. "eyewitness news" reporter justin finch joins us now at the scene in crescent ville with the latest details. good morning. >> police say what we're seeing the end after escape,

doing delivery 500 block target of ambush, involving a gun. they say he sped away up adams avenue, lost control near big ham street, crashed up this hill, and police found that man unconscious with a gunshot wound. about 10:30 thursday night report of a single car wreck off adams avenue. the scene, a violent one mangled toyota atop a hill crashed into a fence, and a light pole downed. the driver still inside. and gravely injured. >> on police arrival medics arrival, found 49 year old male victim inside of a 2,013 toyota corolla he was in the driver seat, unconscious. >> it is now believed the crash was the drivers attempt at get away from gunfire. medics also noticed he was shot in his left shoulder. police believe the driver, whom they are not naming was working as chinese take out delivery man may have been on duty and shot either before

getting inside his car or as he was at the wheel. >> we believe he was making a delivery to one of the reports, because we found 12 spent shell casings in the 500 block every hill creek park. we also found some broken window which we believe was the glass from the driver door window that the victim was in. >> broken glass found at the hill creek park scene and inside the vehicle. driver taken to einstein, pronounced dead short time later. >> and looking live at that car, the scene still being held several hours later mr. is continue their investigation, with homicide detectives, the driver here, 49 years old pronounced dead at einstein medical center, no word on his name or identity. police say at this time his family has not been notified, also, no word again on the suspect or suspects, involved in this shooting. we are live in crescent ville justin finch cbs-3 "eyewitness news". >> justin, thank you. now, new this morning septa

bus catches fire, it happened around 1:30 this morning on south broad and pattison avenue right in front after at&t station. the driver and passenger on the owl service bus got off safely. no word yet on what may have caused that fire. >> well, washington township police are asking for help to find two people captured on camera robbing a gas station. please take a look at this video. happened early yesterday morning, at the gas plus service station on black horse pike. police say the suspects pulled out a handgun, and stole cash, cigarettes and lottery scratch-off tickets. the suspects are a man and a woman, and you can see close up image of the man right here wearing a black -- tsi sweatshirt and ban dan a woman wearing black north face hoodie with pink lettering at the time and a pair of gray phillies sweat pants. anyone with information is asked to contact the police. >> 6:07 right now. dozen of student injured after a stage collapses during a performance. all of this was caught on camera too.

nicole brewer joins us more on how the student rent doing and the video of the crash too nick snow. >> video pretty incredible, about two dozen student were hurt during the finale of their high school musical yesterday when this happened, the stage collapse from the underneath themment take a closer look. >> ♪ ♪ >> tough to watch. shows them performing the play american pie when joined by large group of dancing student. the stage gives out but it takes audience members a moment to realize that it is not part of the show. parent rushed to the stage to help, and all of this is happening in front after packed house. >> moment of silence. he was screaming moms crying, girls crying, then people started running up to the stage and trying to get people out, make sure everyone was okay. >> just scary scary situation. now at least one person was

national debate about policing in minority neighborhoods. it is 6:13, here's your traffic and weather together. katy? >> good morning, ukee, we continue to track storm scan3 really just the wind flow, more than anything, to track here at this point. because our storm system and all of the fronts that came through this week, have all since pivotted away. but now, you have got that counter clockwise spin, funneling the chill from the northwest, where this is coming from, yep you still got little hint of very, very light lake enhanced snowfall, most of which is having hard time reaching the ground at this point through central pa. look at this, you've got freeze and frost alerts that extend all the way out to indianna. even eastern iowa at this point. so it almost carves out the trough that's since settled in. here at home, we still got freeze warnings in effect until 9:00 this morning as well as watches and then we will see renewed rounds of freeze watches go into effect later tonight. this is a chill that will stick around for yet another night, meanwhile, we take a look at the eyewitness weather seven day forecast, at least some easing up that takes place here basically, every single day of the next seven

the airport. erika? >> vittoria, thank you. president obama has order review of the drone strikes that killed two hostages, one of whom was american. the strike in january on the pakistan-afghanistan border killed two members of al quaida. the us hostage killed, identified, as doctor warren weinstein. he was aid worker from maryland who was captured in pakistan in 2011. the president says the us did not know hostages were being held at that compound, where the strikes were made. >> i profoundly regret what happened. on behalf of the us government, i offer our deepest apologies. >> also, killed, was giovanni, italian hostage held since 2012. >> police officer is expected to recover from a gunshot wound to the arm. he was shot by a possible narcotics suspect late last night, in west philly. the officer returned fire and wounded the suspect.

>> search on for the gunman who shot and killed chinese food delivery man in crescentville. that delivery man tried to drive away after the gunfire but he crashed about two blocks away. a least dozen people injured when a stage collapses at high school performance in indianna. one of the student critically injured but is expected to be okay. we'll be right back.

sunshine with time here. we started off so beautiful yesterday. little cloudy to start off. but helps trap a little bit of heat in, so it is still scold out, outside kutztown area mid school clouds will thin out with time. so phillies back in town here, where they have some sunshine at least for first pitch. 50 degrees the first pitch temperature for us. see the temperature continue their decline through the nine inning. vittoria, over to you. >> thank you, good morning everyone, now dealing with full blown rush hour. there is no surprise there. 6:24, this is 95 as you commute southbound out of the area of cottman avenue, out of the northeast, then all the way down through to the vine street expressway. through the construction zones, it is going to be the heaviest, going to feel like the biggest squeeze, but generally speaking you do have some brakes in that traffic. i just don't want to say too many, because i don't want to get your hopes up. on the roosevelt boulevard also dealing with southbound traffic, approach the area of the schuylkill, because on the schuylkill expressway westbound, speeds are clocking in at average every 12 miles per hour, so, totally jammed. as you try and make your way

>> braking news, you are looking at new video from chopper three, just into us, as philadelphia police safely recover two children from a stolen car that was just recovered. this scene is playing out on the 600 block of west knorr street. the children were in the car when it was stolen from the 600 block every rising sun. we're still working on fine tuning new details, but we do know one suspect is in custody. again, the two children who were in that car when it was stole ren safe. and presumably being returned to their very worried mom right now. we'll have more as it comes into us. >> also breaking this morning philadelphia police officer shot while on bike patrol. he's recovering this morning. and now we're learning more about just what happened

before that shooting. >> good morning, jan carabeo at police headquarters right now with more. jan? >> reporter: ukee, erika, a very scary situation. philadelphia police officer was shot in the arm taken to the hospital, but he is expected to recover. we are told he will be okay. as far as the suspect goes, he was taken to hahnemann university hospital. but no update on his condition this morning. take a look at the video this is where the shooting all unfolded around 10:00 last night, in west philadelphia, this happened near the intersection of 52nd and master streets. police say officer daniel kostick with the 19th police district was assigned to bike patrol. he and his partners were first in the area of wilton street and girard avenue checking on a man inside after van possibly for narcotics violations. police say they approached and the suspect back up and made a u-turn. the police officers followed him. but eventually lost him. then officer kostick found the man near 52nd and master. police say they were having discussion when suspect says

quote i don't want to have to do this. and then he opens fire. officer kostick again shot in the arm and returned fire, the suspect was eventually found injured, in the 5,000 block of master street. now, these are the chaotic moments, just after the shooting. caught on police radio, as kostick called for help and his fellow officers responded. take a listen. >> tim ' en route. i am answer route. my arm -- >> (police radio). >> i have officer bike on thompson street, excuse me, warren and master, have the officer's bike here. >> now, police say officer kostick is in good health, in good condition and in good spirits this morning again recovering from that gunshot wound to his arm. again, as far as the suspect goes, police are not releasing much information about him not giving us update on his condition, providing id. right now all they're saying that a weapon was found at the

scene. we will continue to follow this story but for now live outside of philadelphia police headquarters, jan carabeo cbs-3, "eyewitness news". >> jan, we will get back to you soon, thank up. let's get our traffic and weather together right now. here's kate. >> i good morning, ukee, starting things off little bit on the cloud side here today. also, very chilly side too. our temperatures are feeling a lot more like they are into the 20's, and below freezing, basically, everywhere. but storm scan3 at least empty, again, we have some clouds cover to work w here are actual air temperatures, again, not throwing in that windchill, you have got to knock about 10 degrees off. so it is definitely feeling awfully wintery outside yes more like the teens when you do the math, in mount pocono, but eventually today we should end up mid 50's, it is arbor day by the way, which is holiday, which we are encouraged of course to plant and care for trees and it was actually held for the first time into nebraska on april 10th in 1872. so, that said, you know, it is going to be a brighter day to plant a tree.

make sure it is nice and secure because of the winds still out there. so cold ends to the world of work weekment there is a storm that will be nearby for us, tomorrow night and we will talk about whether or not that's going to have aim pact on our area, meanwhile through next week, temperatures do start to ease up somewhat. it will be a slow progression up on the thermometer but we're going get there eventually. today truly where we actually bottom out if you want to call it that here with temperatures at best into the mid 50's. vittoria, we send it over to you. >> thank you so much katie. good morning everyone, right now, we are dealing with rush hour, also dealing with a few accidents situations. so let's get right to t if you are traveling right now on the 30 bypass, we are dealing with a accident situation. if you are traveling eastbound, not too far away from 322. if you are traveling in and around that area, you are going to find some high delays. so the best thing you can do is just plant cords inningly. traveling on the schuylkill expressway, traveling on 95, traveling on the vine street expressway we're finally starting to see rush hour. so definitely want to give yourself more time.

traveling on 95, going to find delays out of the northeast down through to the vine street expressway. there is no, no question about that, but this is the 30 bypass, and it seems to be, that again we had some residual traffic beyond the area of 322 eastbound direction, looks like the accident has been cleared out of the way definitely lingering slow going behind t so if this is where you are headed this morning give yourselves more time. now, with rush hour bubbling on all of the usual spots in the majors, as i have mentioned, also in new jersey, like traveling on the 42, 55, if you are traveling the river line, in new jersey, they're operating every 30 minute, because they're having some signal problems. note that. also accident at gulph road long road. if you are traveling right around the area of king of prussia. ukee? >> vittoria, thank you. following developing story right now delivery man is dead after a shooting, he crashed his car while trying to get away at adams avenue and bingham streets in philadelphia's crescent ville neighborhood. investigators believe the victim was making a food delivery at the time of the

shooting. police have not yet determined if robbery was the motive in this shooting. >> well, bill cosby is facing more accusations of sexual assault. three more women say the philadelphia born comedian assaulted them in separate incidents between 1970 and 1982. one of them says cosby offered her a pill after she took it she says her vision became blurry, then she passed out. >> i remember him then helping me up the stairs to a bedroom. i was in no condition to leave, to drive to say anything. >> the woman's attorney, gloria allred, says more accusers will be coming forward, cosby has not been charged with any crime. >> 6:37, prom postals have become big thing for student these days, way to go above and beyond. >> big gesture got him suspended. nicole brewer joins us, tell you what happened. >> and he won't see the prom either. so tough lesson here. but when the student showed up

with a fake suicide vest, a sign that red i'm the bomb. let's just say it blue up in his face. >> senior suspended by school officials after taking the stage in the school cafeteria to make his prom postal. now the problem he was wearing a paint ball vest with paper tubes, made to look like a bomb. he says he wanted to go big but instead he just went home. with a five day suspension, which includes saturday's prom. now, the district says it could have push for class c felony charges but felt the lesser punishment was appropriate here. says everyone was in on the joke. >> i think it was really funny, everyone there thought it was good and funny. good for 20 seconds. and she just walk up, took it, and then took me to the office. >> now, this morning, his actions are being called inexcusable, and school officials say he disrupted the learning environment. so clearly, they are not impressed, but according to our sister station in seattle he did get the girl. she said yes to his prom postal, and the pair are headed to dinner on prom
