>> powerful earthquake triggered avalanch that kill more than dozen people including three americans. can't imagine seeing that coming at you. now, they are just a few of the more than 3600 victims after the 7.8 magnitude quake struck nepal over the weekend? good morning everyone, now race against time for rescuers trying to locate survivors of the devastating quake. "eyewitness news" reporter justin finch joins us now in our satellite center. he is tracking the latest developments in all of this, justin, good morning. >> good morning, the number of dead as you said now totals more than 3600 people after what's being called the worse earthquake to hit nepal in

more than 08 years. among the hardest hit areas the capitol of kathmandu. as you mention, the rescue efforts around the clock are underway right now and time is critical when life can be the difference between seconds and life and death. though the death toll continues to rise, chinese rescue team found a manna life in rubble sunday. this search for survivors remains active. three days after the magnitude 7.8 quake struck, and now a series of powerful after songs have made the rescue effort a menacing mission. victims by the houses are vacating their homes to set up camps in the streets. meantime thousands of injured are congesting hospitals. >> head injuries, like many people suffering from head injuries, and spine injuries, abdominal injuries. >> relief coming in from around the world. over the weekend crew of 70 left to board us military plane from dover air force base, packed with disaster

grove. so we should be getting by okay earlier taking out two lanes. so some improvement there. route 23, valley forge road, closed between more hill drive and macavoy. get information about track backups with the new cbs traffic app. >> well, a developing story to tell but this morning, death pole now more than 3600 people in nepal earthquake. many survivors are at the mercy of the elements, and weather conditions are expected to get worse. the earthquake hit saturday, destroying buildings in the capitol kathmandu and other areas. also, a boy was rushed to saint christoff he's hospital with smoke inhalation from this fire on north 18th street. the fire broke out in a unoccupied building and spread to neighboring homes. >> philadelphia police rescued four children, who were locked in the base many of their kensington home. their mother could face charges. the children were checked out and doctors say they are physically okay.
