the curfew is working all quiet this morning in baltimore as last few minutes of the mandatory curfew take place. good morning i'm ukee washington. i'm erika von tiehl. that curfew was in place following monday's out break of riots. once 10:00 p.m. curfew hit police shot pepper balls and smoke canister to clear out the street. several people have been arrested since the curfew went in effect but the city has been calm, a apart from the initial condition fronttation. >> citizens are safe. city is stable. we hepp to maintain it that way. >> we are just trying to get peace, joy love out there, violence is ridiculous. >> and earlier in the day in mostly peaceful and updated

protests filled the streets of the baltimore. officials feel confidentable enough to send kid back to school today. new jersey state police are helping patrol as well but not every police force in our area are eager to help. our coverage continues with "eyewitness news" reporter jan carabao at city hall, jan. >> reporter: philadelphia police mayor here, mayor michael nutter does not intend on sending philadelphia police to baltimore at least for now. more on that part of the story in just a minute. new jersey state police already have feet the on the ground and that includes hundred troopers and 50 more personnel. lets take a look. these are photos just taken and tweeted by new jersey state police as troopers prepared to patrol the streets of the baltimore overnight. governor chris christie pledged his support after speaking with maryland's governor on monday. he says these troopers will be in baltimore for 72 hours at first.

meantime as someone continues pennsylvania state police offered their assistance but have not been called upon yet. the the request was made to pennsylvania and surrounding states to provide help in response to the state of the emergency in the city. last time pennsylvania state police responded to such a request is when troopers were sent to new jersey following hurricane sandy. as for philadelphia cops mayor nutter says there is already a another just police presence on the ground so he won't be sending philadelphia police at least for now. >> there are certainly a significant number of resources on the ground there already. if what he get a formal request, then we will do our best to assess what that request is how can we probably be helpful but it is certainly not our role to somehow, you know, jump in to a situation where you have at least fourtive rent local, state and federal agencies in addition to the the justice department. >> reporter: mayor nutter goes on to condemn the the rioters actions a and everyone refocus

curfew in baltimore has just been lifted. scattered out breaks flared shortly after the curfew was instated. police arrested ten people for simple curfew violations. >> new jersey state police just tweeted these pictures of troopers getting ready to patrol baltimore overnight. they are helping officers keep the peace and so far it has been working. cbs news correspondent edward lawrence joins us live from baltimore with the the very latest, good morning. >> reporter: good morning. the just within the last 45 minutes that number of arrests went up to 14. that is because four people showed up in this area, one of them had a hatchet on them so police took him away for breaking curfew. this is what youe in many corners in the baltimore area, hum vees from the national guard, so far all quiet as this curfew is expiring. national guard troops in armored cars are patrolling the the empty streets in
