federal law enforcement officers blanketed that city overnight that it is i wide curfew in baltimore has just been lifted. scattered out breaks flared shortly after the curfew was instated. police arrested ten people for simple curfew violations. >> new jersey state police just tweeted these pictures of troopers getting ready to patrol baltimore overnight. they are helping officers keep the peace and so far it has been working. cbs news correspondent edward lawrence joins us live from baltimore with the the very latest, good morning. >> reporter: good morning. the just within the last 45 minutes that number of arrests went up to 14. that is because four people showed up in this area, one of them had a hatchet on them so police took him away for breaking curfew. this is what youe in many corners in the baltimore area, hum vees from the national guard, so far all quiet as this curfew is expiring. national guard troops in armored cars are patrolling the the empty streets in baltimore. >> the the citizens are safe.

the city is stable. we hope to maintain it that way. >> reporter: shortly before 10:00 p.m. tuesday police in riot gear backed by community members moved in on crowds of mostly peaceful protesters instructing them to go home after the mandatory curfew go home. >> show is over people lets go home. >> reporter: defiant protesters squared off throwing bottles and rocks. officers deployed smoke pepper spray and made ten arrests. situation is a par cry from the events of the 24 hours ago when looting rioting and fires over called calls for justice for freddie gray. the the 25 year-old died of the spinal cord injury week after taking into custody. many act wrist believe it highlights ongoing issues between law enforcement and communities that they serve. >> it is important for us to establish a national standard for excessive use of force. we cannot have ferguson, and baltimore happening again and again. >> reporter: many of the demonstrators on monday were

avenue had has reopened from monday morning's truck accident. the the rest of the mass transit and airport reporting no delays. that is your traffic. ukee back to you. south park avenue in lower providence is reopened to traffic. penndot tells us that the road reopened around 1:00 this morning. on monday two trucks collided spilling one driver and spilling cosmetic powder on the roadway. crews brought in detergent and power washers to clean the slick surface. again south park avenue in lower providence township is back opened this morning. well, the situation in nepal remains dire and the aftermath of the earthquake, we are seeing some amazing stories of survival. eye witt the necessary news reporter nicole brewer joins us from our studio with a look the at the imaging coming from the region, nicole. >> reporter: erika, the the numbers here are startling. american 4800 dead, 9200 injured and according to the u.n., 8 million people affected by this disaster including a million children in urgent need of help. still as you mentioned we are seeing signs of hope, in the

himalayan region. these images are striking. they she a four month-old baby being rescued from beneath the ruble after enduring 22 hours buried under the debris. kind of images that inspire hope but remind us of the devastation that continues to play out, all across nepal, so much heart break, so much suffering, and all of this, of course, following a magnitude 7.8 earthquake that struck 50 miles from the capitol city of katmandu. it marks nation's deadliest natural disaster in more than 80 years. and as the death toll, nears 5,000 this morning prime minister projected that could double as rescue crews gain access to the smaller more remote villages quote closer to the quake's epicenter. >> incredible, with that baby. still a a head a scare in the air when a plane had has to make an emergency landing here in philadelphia now we are hearing about that

details on this horrible story, justin, good morning. >> reporter: erika and ukee, good morning. the police are in warminster as well as members of the nativity of our lord are wondering who will rob their church. they are hoping someone out there will... to that tape. now this happened between monday and tuesday overnight. police believe around 11:30 monday night. they say this man broke in the side entrance and made his way into the church. that is where he proceeded to go straight toward the donation boxes forcing open those boxes and then making off with cash. >> for us as catholics the church is a place where blessed sacrament is, abe sacred to us. for someone to go in there and do that, it is just disheartening.

>> disheartening for sure in doubt about. that we apologize for those audio break ups. we will have more from justin finch throughout our broadcast this morning. mother of the motorist shot and killed by philadelphia police says officers planted evidence to justify the shooting. tanya brown dickerson son brandon tait brown was killed in the traffic stop in december. she filed a wrongful death suit against the city claiming officers planted evidence to make it seem like her son was reaching for a gun. the district attorney decline to charge officers saying surveillance video corroborated the officer's story. two with men are taken to the hospital after being shot in wilmington. chopper three over the scene tuesday night on west sixth street. police have not released identities of the conditions of the female victims. chopper three was over christiana hospital where a group of people gathered following the shooting. police are trying to figure out what led up to the the gun fire. a young boy is in critical condition after he is hit by a car in frankford. the it happened on the 1700 block of, brill street, just

there's over two hundred thousand students in philadelphia. jim kenney and tony williams are fighting over public schools versus charters. i think they're both wrong...it's making sure they all get a good education. teachers should have their contracts respected. they also should be held accountable. and it's wrong philadelphia gets less school funding than other parts of pennsylvania. i'll work with harrisburg to change that. but if they refuse i'll take them
