university student is fighting for her life after a hit-and-run near the temple campus, and now just in to "eyewitness news" these images of the car that police are trying to fine. good evening i'm chris may. >> i'm jessica dean. the woman was hit at north park avenue at diamond street in north philadelphia and that's where "eyewitness news" reporter diana rocco is live tonight with breaking new details. diana? >> reporter: police just released new surveillance pictures of the vehicle they say mode down a woman and left her unconscious in the street. police say the 22-year-old temple student was riding her bike down park street just after 7:00 wednesday when she was struck by by a car crossing this intersection. the car was heading down diamond toward broad street. police say they have video of the incident caught by temple surveillance cameras. the student was left lying in the middle of the intersection. her bike thrown feet. police say the car described as a late model gray mitsubishi gallant stopped for a brief moment then someone heard a passenger in the back seat

telling the driver to go. the vehicle was then seen fleeing north on broad street. with 33 men inside. >> upon police rifle they found the 22-year-old female unconscious on the highway suffering from a severe head trauma, she also had a what appeared to be a compound fracture to her left leg. medic picked up her body transported they are temple hospital. where she's presently in he can treatmently critical condition. >> reporter: pictures show the great late model mitsubishi gallant from several different angles before and after the crash. and at last check that temple university student has not gained consciousness. police say they are not optimistic shell make it through the night. the vehicle they are looking for is expected to have damage to the front passenger side windshield or the front passenger side window. anyone with information is asked to call police tonight. we're live in north philadelphia on temple university campus diana rocco cbs3 "eyewitness news".

>> diana, thank you very much. well tonight thousands took to the streets across the country to rally in memory of freddie gray the man who died in the custody of baltimore police. new york was the scene of the largest gathering. police arrested at least a dozen people in union square. hundreds of peaceful protesters then moved throughout manhattan they shut down several streets. they blocked the outbound holland tunnel for about an hour. but in the end there were no reports of violence. meantime for a second night a curfew is in effect in baltimore and it does appear to be keeping the peace. this evening large crowds moved peacefully and slowly through the streets of that city. but during the day baltimore's police commission are in says his officers made 18 arrests. because of the security risk baseball fans were not a inside the orioles/chicago white sox game at camden yards. the teams played in front of an empty stadium. the next step in the investigation into freddie gray

gray's death will take place on friday where baltimore police were turn over evidence. >> protests will come tomorrow here to center see philadelphia. there's a demonstration planned in front of city hall tomorrow afternoon. organizers of what is called philly is baltimore expect big crowds to march in protest of police brutality. the mother of a philadelphia man killed by police has filed a wrongful death lawsuit in her son's death. tanya brown dickerson says physical police officers lied about her son brandon tate brown reaching for a gun. he was shot and killed by police during a traffic stop in mayfair back in december. this suit names the city and two police officers as defendants and seeks monetary damages and pleasure fors. >> i believe with all my heart that my son's rights were violateed brutally and severely. i believe he was not given a chance and i want reform. i want laws changed and that's

why i'm standing here. >> police and city officials have no comment on that lawsuit. an investigation by the da's office resulted in no criminal charges against the two officers involved in that shooting. well, we are tracking big changes for our weather and we mean big changes. meteorologist kathy orr is standing by outside on the cbs3 sky deck. it's going to be a little different out there in not much time. kathy. >> absolutely, chris. right now, we have a few clouds rolling in outside now on the sky deck and that's just the beginning. we're seeing them moving in from the south on corm stan three. it will be much cooler really quickly. you can see the rain off the mid atlantic that is courtesy of our coastal low. but things are going to get complicated part one coastal storm moving offshore but part two upper level low that will combine with that storm to keep an on shore flow over us. that translates to cooler conditions and even the threat of rain and wind. tomorrow morning expect temperatures to rise from the 50s into the 60s. but we are going to be seeing conditions change quickly.

much cooler air moving in, wind some showers and conditions that aren't that favorable for being outside but then, chasing day. so temperatures fall dramatically and then come back in that seven day forecast. i'll have more on that with that seven day when i join you inside inside. >> kathy, thank. tonight a popular beer is doing away with very unpopular slogan. >> the beer giant anheuser-busch is removing a message from the beer labels after complaints the message promoteed rape. night. >> that's incredibly messed up. >> yeah. um -- >> it just completely eliminates the idea of consent. i just think that's actually messed up. >> definitely expanding on rape culture. >> reporter: critics on social media were also quick to pounce saying the slogan is part of a culture that condones sexual assault. temple university assistant professor of advertising joe glenn on. >> how could this have passed their sensors? how did it get out? >> it's amazing how many people have to approve packageing, and to have all of them be so tone deaf and miss this is unfathomable. >> the slogan about removing no from your vocabulary of one of 140 messages on bottles as part of their up for whatever campaign. bud light admitted the error of its ways and ceased production of the controversial message on some of its bottles. in a statement company vice-president said, it's clear that this before message missed

the mark and regret it. we would never condone disrespectful or irresponsible behavior. >> no publicity is bad publicity publicity. this is the wrong message at the wrong time. he calls the slogan foolish. todd quinones cbs3 "eyewitness news". >> a lot of people talking about this a lot of opinions out there and we do want to know what you have to think about it. you can always connect with us on facebook and twitter at cbs philly using the hash tag cbs philly chat. >> now to what could have been a deadly prank. a student is charged with assault after police say he spike his teacher's coffee with eye drops making her sick. it happened on tuesday at central regional high school in berkeley township. investigators there say that the student slipped those eye drops into kelly gross' coffee when she left her classroom. she had to be taken to the hospital after suffering with stomach pains. we spoke to her husband who says his wife did not deserve that. >> the whole thing is pretty upsetting for my life. physically better but

emotionally she's pretty upset that someone would do this to her. from what i understand he was just trying to pull a prank but you should be careful with such things. she could have been seriously hurt. >> we have been told that that student has been suspend suspended pending a board hearing. a hazmat situation in hammonton sends eight workers to the hospital. chopper three over the scene at home solutions and fusion therapy on grant street south. about 90 employees evacuated after several people complained of headaches and nausea. eight people were taken to the hospital. two of them by helicopter. officials suspect refrigerant leak in the air-conditioning caused those problems but they continue to investigate. down the shore many are still struggling to recover from the destruction of hurricane sandy. >> i'm david spunt. it's been 2.5 years since super storm sandy hit many of our local communities. the federal government has a new push to make things right. that story next. also there's some

it is really hard to believe but it is now been 2.5 years since hurricane sandy reported ashore uprooting lives and destroying homes. today, i it witness news reporter david spunt traveled to tuckerton to check on the recovery and he found out why some are finally finally seeing signs of hope. >> i chose to move down here to be able to raise my kids in this world. >> reporter: living on the water is just a part of live for buck evans. he's proud to call tuckerton

home. >> sounds crazy it's almost like mayberry rfd but it is a peaceful town. >> reporter: evans served as the mayor for four years until last december. while in office he says hands down his toughest time was the aftermath of super storm sandy. "eyewitness news" followed the recovery in tuckerton since the storm and many homes today still look like this. >> my house was destroyed. >> reporter: but getting the money hasn't been eases easy for evans one of thousands who claimed claims with fema. he's still without answers. >> too many of the engineering folks that came in and made digs on homes had never evaluated storms. >> reporter: just this week, members of congress and fema officials publicly announceed plans to fix the problems with fema claims. homeowners who filed claims like evans may see a letter next month. asking whether they want to reopen their claims. >> officials estimate just under 142,000 damaged claims associate

associated with super storm sandy buck evans had to knock down his old home and build this new home in tuckerton using a lot of his own money and speaking of tuckerton they are 800 claims just in his small town. >> buck evans says for the first time since the super storm hit he feels confident the government will come through on its promise. >> not only does this impact you as resident but also impacts your town. impacts your community. >> reporter: in tuckerton, new jersey david spunt cbs3 "eyewitness news". more than 5,000 people are confirmed dead in nepal where a frantic race to find earthquake survivors continues. stories of survival are emerging from the rubble. this man was rescued after three days. it took rescue teams five hours to get him out. in the meantime the first rounds of food and aid have begun to reach remote villages devastated by that quake. many of those displaced by the

magnitude 7.8 earthquake are staying at camps and some fear those camps could soon be full of disease. equal pay advocates have a new champion tonight pope francis says that it is a pure scandal that some women earn less than men for doing the same work pope made those comments during his wednesday general audience. he has called for a greater role for women within the church but remains against women's order nation or allowing women to leave vatican congregations. still about 20% of the church's employees are women. if you want more money at work you can always ask for a raise but that is never an easy thing to do. there are certain things you can do to increase your chances of making it happen, though. tonight thee on your side's jim donovan has the top three ways you can get a raise. >> reporter: so you think you deserve a raise? well, why don't you ask? according to the website pay scale.com only 43% of workers ask for a raise.

and women are less comfortable negotiating than men. >> kind of ranks up there with paying taxes or getting a root canal. one of those conversations people don't like to have report roar which is why we culled corrine snell assistant dean for student professional development at temple university's fox school of business. >> you need to focus on yourself, not what others are making. >> reporter: with her help we came up with our top three ways to get a race. tip number one timing is everything. according to mi inform t.cot com the best time to ask for a race is early in the week. forget about thursday and friday friday. that's when your boss may already have their weekend on that mind it's not just the time of week to consider but also the time of year. figure out when your company sets its annual budget and go two months in advance. if the budget is set in october august should be your deadline. tip number two be confident know what you want. experts say come in with a number and aim high. but not too high. do your research and know your

value. >> there's so many salary sites out there. glass door, pay school.com, salary.com, job search intelligence.com. get an idea what comparative salaries are like. >> reporter: tip number three schedule a meeting. be sure to tell your boss in advance what you'd like to speak with them about they don't feel like they're being ambushed and be prepared to highlight your strengths. you may even want to come with what's known as a brag report. >> think back of your player. over the last year quantify those want were the results? >> reporter: surveying shows employers are planning to give pay raises averaging 3% this year. about par with the 2.9 average raise given in 2013 and 2014 but still bow pre recession levels. >> you know you do have to know your worth. know your value and the brag report that can be hard for people to do sometimes. >> i was worth 2 million. >> 2 million. >> of course you are. >> oatlike aim high.

55 in the poconos. 56 in lancaster and reading. it's only 60 degrees but we are going to be seeing these temperatures fall even moreover night tonight. storm scan3 you can see the clouds lifting up from the south associated with this this is our coastal low that's moving toward the northeast and upper level low is spinning to the north and west and that's going to be impacting our weather as well. bringing cooler temperatures we're talking about more clouds in the forecast. gusty winds moving in by late tomorrow into friday and a few isolated showers. i think the temperature the wind and the clouds major impacts of this particular scenario. our storm moves off the coast upper level low combines with it and both of them will bring us increasing troubles over the course of the next couple of days. a stray shower for your thursday thursday. temperatures manage to get to 70 with some sun. but as these storms move offshore you really get into that on shore flow. ocean water temperatures only in the 50s so you're talking about a high of 60 degrees on friday that's about it. clouds some wind and maybe even a few sprinkles. it all moves out right in time

for the weekend. right on queue. saturday well into the 60s with partly sunny skies. high pressure builds in and the weather gets even better by sunday. we'll take look at that in the seven day. overnight partly cloudy, but pleasant and comfortable the low temperature 53. during the day tomorrow we rise to 70 with sunshine increases clouds an chance of a stray shower. easterly wind at about five to 10 miles an hour but that's going to increase late tomorrow and through friday. hour by hour, thursday morning comfortable in the morning. light sweater will be all you would need. by noon 67. 68 at 2:00 p.m. a few more clouds by about 5:00 o'clock and any evening activities looking good. sunset shortly after 8:00 o'clock but temperatures still in the 50s which is pretty decent for this time of year. sunday morning the broad street run. are you ready? perfect weather for it with sunny skies and a temperature in the morning of 59 degrees. on the exclusive "eyewitness weather" seven day forecast check it out. 10 degrees cooler friday. look at that only 60. 68 saturday.

♪ turning two worlds into one takes love. ♪ helping protect that world takes state farm. >> phillies are still in st. louis. hometown guy doing pretty well tonight. >> he always does when he goes back home. hit another homerun. game three of four in st. louis tonight with aaron harang on the mound. ryan howard doing what he does when he plays in his hometown. peck it up in the fourth inning of play. phillies down run. big piece with a fly ball that kept on flying. until it left the confines of the playing feel. his 20th homerun against the cardinals. game tied. in the fifth matt carpenter with grounder to first ryan howard tried to throw out peter but they say he was safe. matt adams doubled to left. carpenter scored. horang gave up four run in the fifth and cardinal beat the phillies five-two.

baseball history day in baltimore. the orioles and white sox played in an empty stadium because of safety concerns over riots this week. some fans look through the gates of camden yards to see the game. the orioles scored six times in the first inning and beat chicago eight to two. nfl draft tomorrow i think tennessee will draft marcus mariota with the soiled second pick then open up the bidding for draft day trade. i believe chip will submit an offer. merrill reece has seen more eagles drafts than anyone else. here's his take. >> if they have to stay at 20 they will find a very talented player. but they may go up to 14 as far as 14 15. i don't see them moving into the top 10. i think that's highly unlikely but if anything if there is a player that they really, really covet, i can see them making some moves to go forward.

students in philadelphia. jim kenney and tony williams are fighting over public schools versus charters. i think they're both wrong...it's making sure they all get a good education. teachers should have their contracts respected. they also should be held accountable. and it's wrong philadelphia gets less school funding than other parts of pennsylvania. i'll work with harrisburg to change that. but if they refuse i'll take them to federal court. as mayor i'll do what's right for them.
