ice officers here today, guarantying the freedom to protest. as you get closer to the protest you can hear voices of those gathered here this he were loud, passionate, we spoke to many of them. here's a thought of one protester who came here to listen and to participate. >> i'm hoping to see legtive change their laws, because something has got to stop when it comes to police brutality and if it means us getting out here every day to fight for justice, then so it shall be. i will be one of the ones standing right here. >> reporter: back live you can see right now the protesters for the first time moving off of the west plaza of city looking live, they are now moving north across 15th street and it does appear that traffic at this moment is going to be blocked on the the west side of city hall as the the protesters assemble. now where they might be heading from here right new we don't know.

a and are and frustration. crowd has gathered, the northwest corner of dilworth park. we are now moving toward the area of love park. the protest has been organize by the philadelphia coalition for racial economic, and legal justice and dozens of these demonstrators here you can see now are holding signs very specific messages. we took time out just a couple minutes ago to talk to those people holding their signs and we have learned why it is, they chose those specific messages. >> we made this as soon as we her everything going on here as part of the protest. we just want justice for everybody. we want the police to stop killing us. >> i feel like black lives matter. we're killed daily, without explain nation. >> reporter: right now protesters have been spilled out here on to 15th street and

"eyewitness news" reporter matt rivers is live at temple hospital in north philadelphia with the very latest on this investigation, matt. >> reporter: that 22-year old victim remains in the hospital. we have spoke when her father throughout the day-to-day. she has under gone many hours of surgery and remains in extremely critical condition. two lives forever change, after a wednesday night crash the first, 22-year old rachel hall victim, police say she was riding her binding home near temple's campus when she was struck by this car driven by an 18 year-old suspect. >> about 10:30 we recovered the striking vehicle mitsubishi galante. that was first step that led up to the suspect. >> reporter: they got a tip from the suspect's dad. he said his son who does not have a full driver's license took his car last night and suspect that his son was responsible. thursday that son confessed to police. >> the young man had a permit so he told us he was afraid, panic and left but he did come

clean today and give us details of the crash. >> reporter: he will be facing serious charges as temple university community reacted to news of the popular 22-year old accident. she was set to graduate next week and take a job as a washington d.c. police officer. temple university athletic director kevin clark said in part, our hope is to see this young woman honored for her work in the classroom back on her feet and holding her temple university diploma in the near future. police have not yet identified that 18 year-old suspect. they do tell us he will face charges of leaving the scene of the accident after causing serious injury. he has not been taken in custody as of yet because district attorney has not yet formalized the charges against him. we do expect that to happen soon. we are live outside of temple hospital matt rivers, for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". >> thank you very much. a baby is rescued after being locked in the hot car today a camden police officer

discovered five month-old crying and sweating profusely in the car in the cvs parking lot at fifth street and milk will boulevard. that officer used a baton to break a window and got the infant out of the car. she's hailed tonight as a hero for her quick thinking actions. >> it is hots outside. so the the baby was not okay. >> when the child's mother, came out of that cvs she told officers she had been in there a short time but she was still taken in custody and charged with child endangerment tonight. that baby was taken to the hospital but is said to be in good health. cloud are moving in and big changes are on the horizon for the the end of the week. meteorologist kathy orr is tracking dropping temperatures plus chance for showers kathy. >> even of the week will be damp a and dreary. we had a shower earlier but right new we are looking at most of the activity to the west of lancaster harrisburg, baltimore, washington with showers and thunderstorms. for this evening we are cool

average high of 69. so first week of may will feel more like the the first week of june or even august, we will get to that but first lets start here. poconos 60 degrees. and, now it is to the west little rock at 8o oklahoma city at 80. all that is moving eastward a huge ridge in the central part of the country but a big trough in the east. we have a upper level low pressure system keeping it cool and showery especially to the west of us. and then we have to see the the peak of the cool air on shore flow kicks in ocean water temperatures once again only in the 50's, so we will impact our weather with more cloud. cooler temperatures. only in the 60's and better chance of scattered showers. the once this moves away, we will be seeing that impact lessen. so still easterly flow sat the day. temperatures still well in the 60's.

chance of the stray shower but then we will kick into that summer-like heat by sunday. well in the 70's. mostly sunny skies and monday it gets warmer. so for your friday we are talking about cool temperatures, more cloud better chance of showers and those wind will be kicking up again gusting to at least 20 or 25 miles an hour. so for tonight we are looking at an isolated shower mainly to the west, low temperature of 48. tomorrow high temperature is 61. cool et cetera it will get. for first weekend of may it will get better. tomorrow morning, 52 light coat, noon time hour, still chilly at 59. 8:00 p.m. temperature 57 and dry. on the exclusive eyewitness weather seven day forecast saturday looking good, 69 sunday, 77, but look at this summer moves in on monday. eighty, 82 on thursday. seventy-eight on wednesday. seventy-seven on thursday. that is looking much more like it around here. >> i like ate lot, kathy. very good.
