by 2:00 p.m. 07 degrees. lots of exhibit and fun on the parkway in philadelphia today from 10:00 to 7:00. we will check the seven day coming up. britain will soon have a royal baby, as we have been telling you all morning prince william's wife kate is at st. mary a's hospital in london in labor. cbs news correspondent susan mcginnes is live outside lindo wing of the hospital where royal baby watch is in high gear. good morning susan? >> reporter: good morning, todd. yeah, it has been called the great kate wait and it is soon to be over. everyone is anticipating that the labor will go smoothly. kate was admitted at 6:00 a.m. london time. she has been in labor for five hours at the private exclusive lindo wing in the st. mary's hospital. we are in the western part of the london. it will not be lopping before the the britain will have a new prince or princess. police are standing outside

the exclusive private lindo wing where duchess of cambridge was admitted earlier this morning. the as soon as word got out press pen filled with media and fans gathered to await the baby's arrival some camped out here for weeks. >> for having to be camp out so long and to find out she's in the earl stage of labor it happened so quick. >> reporter: they say they don't know if they are having a boy or girl but that had has not stopped brits from guessing. >> hope it is a girl. >> reporter: duke and duchess already have have a little boy. kate had prince george in the same hospital almost two years ago. buckingham palace will announce the news in the high tech manner. >> everything is coming through on the palace feet record. >> reporter: doctor say this baby may come much more quickly when kate was in labor for 10.5 hours. then a royal bulletin will announce the baby's birth and gender on a golden ease ill in front of the buckingham palace. name of the prince or princess will be september secret when prince george was born will

and kate kept people guessing for two days first informing queen elizabeth of their name choice. so lots of anticipation, todd for birth of this child. once we get announcement that the the new prince or principales has been born, all eyes will be on that door once again, the lindo wing door that the glimpse the couple will give when they introduce the new prince or princess to the world. >> susan, thank you. can you give us the sense of the excitement and atmosphere there. is there as much excitement now as there was for the the first child. >> reporter: certainly there is lots of excitement here outside st. mary's, even more media has been accredited for this event then it was before the birth of prince george two years ago but excitement level around london and britain is more subdued then it was for prince george. remember this child will be fourth in line for british thrown so likely will never

actually a achieve rule or never will take the monarchy. this child will be called, a spare to the heir, less exciting but lots around here especially at the the prospect it might be a girl. >> thank you susan mcginnes reporting for news lon on. thank you susan. and new this morning fire fighters spend much of the night battling a a two alarm fire in an old building in wilmington. "eyewitness news" reporter alexandria hoff filed this report from the scene. >> reporter: this fire has been put out but crews remain on the scene to deal with hot spots. crews were called to bank croft mill rode around 1:30. it took ten minutes to reach two alarms. this building was vacant but rich with history. compromised in the fire is the historic site for which the road is name, the bankcroft mill built in 1787, it is still unclear how this started but given the age, fire fighters had to deal with multiple collapses.

there are town homes that backup within 50 feet of the mill this he were not damage a no injuries were reported. reporting from wilmington, alexandria hoff for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". five people are rushed to the hospital following this accident involving a military convoy from fort dix and it happened on a new jersey turnpike, in ham ill will ton township mercer county late last night, three military members in the hum vee were hurt the the driver was eject and flown to helen fold with serious injuries. the the other two victims have non-life threatening injuries, two people in a black nissan also suffered non-life threatening injuries and that crash remains under investigation this morning. now to the latest on the charges against six officers in maryland. the prosecutors say that the arrest of freddie gray was illegal, and what happened to him in police custody was murder. officers are faithing criminal charges in most serious a murder charge filed against caesar goodson. he drove the police van in

which gray allegedly suffered fatal injuries. goodson could get 30 years in prison if found guilty. charges against the the other five officers include involuntary manslaughter, a assault and false imprisonment. one of the charged officers is from south the jersey. edward nero grew up in sewell, gloucester county and was a member of the washington township fire department, our natasha brown has more on that. >> reporter: a city just days ago erupted in to violence and chaos, transformed into a city jubilant about news of an arrest in the freddie gray case. >> the people are tired of those two bad seeds within the police department and they want them out of there. >> the medical examiner's determination that mr. grays death was a homicide, which we received today has led us to believe that we have probable cause to file criminal charges. >> reporter: six baltimore police officers are now facing criminal charges in gray's death.

freddie gray died one week after suffering a spinal cord injury in police custody. one of the officers now charge is 29 year-old edward nero from sewell, new jersey, and he once served as a fire fighter with the washington township fire department. >> ed nero was a member of our department for approximately ten years from 2002 to about 2012, during his tenure with us. he was an outstanding dedicated fire fighter basically had a very clean record, squeaky clean, never in trouble, he was an all around good guy for us. >> reporter: the investigation has revealed that nero was one of three officers that loaded gray in the police wagon on his stomach. sources tell "eyewitness news" nero's family lives here in this neighborhood in sewell new jersey no comment from his family. >> what do we want? >> justice. >> reporter: no shortage of comments from local protesters who took to the streets of the philadelphia friday night winding their way from south street around city hall to the steps of the art museum. a peaceful protest filled by days of unrest.

>> the the more people that come out and see what is going on and join marches join all of that, and get into it. get in tuned. be aware. >> reporter: officer nero is facing two counts of second degree assault, one count of false imprisonment and two counts of the office misconduct. other officers are facing much more serious charges including second degree murder and manslaughter. five of the six officers have posted bail and been released right now. at city hall, natasha a brown cbs-3 "eyewitness news". meanwhile in baltimore police in riot gear began arresting protesters shortly after fifth friday night's 10:00 p.m. curfew went in effect. more than 100 people were dancing in the street and chanting freddie leading up to the curfew. others were held in the country large crowd marched through the streets of dallas friday evening and in new york seattle, protesters showed support for baltimore during their mayday democrat

celebrations. we will have the very latest on our web site at cbs philly.com. a teenager is in critical condition after being attacked by a pit bull. philadelphia police responded to the 200 block of higbee street in lawncrest around 7:30 friday night. police say the officer shot the dog once and it the released the 16 year-old boy. what he was rushed to einstein medical center. the dog's injuries are not clear but we are told it is being contained. two rental trucks have have been reported stolen since sunday and philadelphia police are hoping you can help them, track down the vehicles, and a man that they believed, is responsible for one of the trucks theft. >> reporter: philadelphia will be packed this weekend, tens of thousands of runners and spectators will take part in the broad street run. >> on sunday we have the broad street the sun, a subject that we don't like the idea of two reek also of this nature being

unaccounted for. >> reporter: chief inspector joe sullivan head up the philadelphia police department's home land security division and he is hoping that the public can help track down two stolen rentallal trucks. on sunday police say this man was one of three who stole a cargo van from u-haul at 101 west hunting park avenue. the the suspects conned a homeless man into opening up a bank account. they gave him just enough money so he can get a debit card so he can rent a u-haul. >> he was direct to return home and they said they would meet up with him later to return the van and at which time he would be paid, needless to say, he was never contacted again. >> reporter: two days later a large yellow cargo truck was stolen from this penske location at 12th and washington avenue in south philadelphia. a worst case scenario would be the vehicles would be used in some kind of a terrorism plot but more likely case is less sinister according to police. >> individuals they don't want

there's over two hundred thousand students in philadelphia. jim kenney and tony williams are fighting over public schools versus charters. i think they're both wrong...it's making sure they all get a good education. teachers should have their contracts respected. they also should be held accountable. and it's wrong philadelphia gets less school funding than other parts of pennsylvania. i'll work with harrisburg to change that. but if they refuse i'll take them to federal court. as mayor i'll do what's right for them.

happy ending years in the making a dog missing from east hampton long island, for two years will be reunited with their owners next week. jennifer mcloge an from our sister station cbs news two in new york has the story. >> you are about to get on a airplane. >> reporter: jesse was reported missing two years ago from her east hampton home. she had been lost, or stolen by family's pet setter. jesse's trail grew cold until this week when she was discovered abandoned and starving in the foreclosed zombie house in medford. >> living in deplorable conditions, and we're here to take the the dog today a and get it to safety. >> reporter: neighbors alerted guardians of rescue who found the hound, alone and frighten, she has been eating chunks of the wallboard. >> crucial that the talk was saved at that moment. >> yes, because she was left there to fend for herself. she had eaten the the

the 40's every single place in the viewing area. it is a chillier start then you might like but i think finish of the the day is exactly wharf been hoping for for months. we have temperatures in the the lower 70's today. we will get a mixture of sun and clouds. but by noon time we are in the middle 60's. so this is a daze that warms up nicely and it will be getting warmer over the next few days, so this may be one of the coolest day that we will be finding over the the next maybe five the at least. so our future weather we've got nothing going on actually. so that is why we will move on to 11:00 o'clock this morning where is there nothing weather-wise but a lot going on in everybody's life and mostly outside. grab the kid ones you don't like and go outside and have a picnic, take the pets one or 4:00 this afternoon in one or two spots and, in the worth it, there is such a small chance of it happening, it is really not even worth mentioning.

just enjoy these temperatures today that will be getting into the 70's, and 80 degrees tomorrow, i'll show you a warm seven day coming up todd? we have breaking news. the it is a girl. we are looking live at st. mary's hospital, in london, where the duchess of cambridge gave birth to a 8-pound 3-ounce baby girl. this is the second child for prince william and kate who also have a son prince george crowds of well wishers and media are now stake outside lindo wing of the hospital. palace officials say mom and baby are doing well. as for a name, we can expect to find that out over the next few days but again the royal baby is a girl and the family is doing well this morning. and new this morning fire fighters in new castle county are busy putting out hot spots after a two alarm fire burned for much of the night. alexandria hoff is at the the scene in wilmington with more on their efforts. >> reporter: at this point crews have been out here for about five hours now this fire is out but they are still working to put out some hot spots. around 1:30 the fire was absolutely tearing through the the three story building on bankcroft mills road and quickly elevated to two alarms. location did pose an issue for crews given it is at the end of the single lane road in the the brandywine river. the building was ray can't but it is also rich with history. the cities bankcroft mill, one of the area's oldest built in 1787. given the age crews did have have to deal with several collapses, no one was injury. bankcroft mill sits within one hundred feet of newtown homes but they run touch. alexandria hoff for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". six baltimore police officers find themselves on the the other side of the law this morning. they have been a arrested ape charged with the the death of the freddie gray. cbs news correspondent craig

boswell is in baltimore with the details. >> reporter: baltimore police enforced a 10:00 p.m. curfew for a fourth night taking away several people who stayed outside of city hall. overall, these protests were quite different from previous ones. >> i just feel as though this is the most wonderful thing i have seen in a long time. >> reporter: residents are celebrating the arrests of the six officers involve in the death of 25 year-old freddie gray baltimore's top prosecutor says that gray's arrest was illegal and officers were negligent. >> the manner of death deemed a homicide by the maryland state medical examiner is believed to be a result of the fatal injury that occurred while mr. gray was unrestrained by a seat belt in the custody of the baltimore police department wagon. >> reporter: gray died of the severe spinal injury a week after his april 12th a arrest. the the charges against the officers include second degree murder involuntary manslaughter and second degree assault. gray's family says they are satisfied. >> these charges are an

important step in getting justice for freddie. >> reporter: charges are only first step toward the the just advertise these protesters are demanding as well but those supporting the officers are blaming public pressure. >> i have never seen such a hurried rush to file criminal charges which i believe are driven by forces which are separate and apart from the application of law and the facts of this case as we know them. >> reporter: protesters a their work is not yet done. >> we're still watching, we're still listening a and we will not stop. >> reporter: more rallies are planned this weekend n baltimore, craig boswell for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". and for the second day in the row protesters took to the streets of the center city as well. they marched from south street to city hall, and on to the steps of the art museum. organizers called it philly for baltimore and used the opportunity to decry police brutality. the march caused some traffic tie ups but remained peaceful. stay with "eyewitness news" for continuing coverage of the arrest of the officers, and the unrest in baltimore.

"eyewitness news" reporter david spunt the has the story. >> reporter: as governor christie continues to distance himself from bridgegate his old friend and associate david wildstein pleaded guilt friday his rel in creating traffic jams on the new jersey side of the george washington bridge in 2013. he and others orchestrated a a deliberate ill will legal scheme to reduce access lanes from three to one in order to punish mark sokolich, the mayor of the fort lee for not endorsing governor christie's reelection. >> reporter: wildstein was an official of the port authority of new york and new jersey which oversees the bridge. executive director bill barron, seen here in the the 2011 interview with "eyewitness news" was also

it's a money maker. i mean, i just feel like our children are paying the price for these high stakes tests and their teachers are stressed out about it. so, teachers aren't benefiting. they're not getting information from these tests that are helpful for teaching. kids aren't benefiting because they don't even know what they got right or wrong. they just know that they feel really bad about it. parents aren't benefitting because i don't get any more information about my child. so the only people that could possibly be benefitting from this are corporations who are making the tests and selling the tests.
