investigation. police say that a man was shot and killed in the hallway of an apartment complex this happened in the 400 block of main street. detectives and the medical examiner are now at the scene. police are investigating to see if a man seen running down main street could be connected to this crime. no word yet on motive. but once again a murder investigation underway right now in darby borough. >> also, breaking this morning, the search for two men in a violent home invasion and robbery in bucks county. >> "eyewitness news" reporter jan carabeo joins us now at new britain township police department with the latest information for us. jan? >> erika ukee, police here are still searching for two armed suspects, and for a time, they had a very strong lead. they were tracking a stolen cell phone but it seems investigate verse been disconnected. >> an old farm house in quiet chalfont, bucks county, became the scene after frightening home invasion and robbery overnight. just after midnight, four young men who live here were

taken by surprise, when two mask men broke in through a back door. >> they kicked in the door. enters the house gathered everybody together, got them down on the floor demanded where the valuables were. there wasn't a lot. >> police say the house on limekiln pike was tactor dollars. but it seemed the suspect wanted more. >> they new a female occupied the house. they were asking where she was. she wasn't home. >> police responds the in a minute. but the suspect had already gotten away with some cash, electronics, and one cell phone. police were able to track the suspects for a time, by that phone. >> montgomery county one ping then the phone was turned off. only one phone that was taken. >> police will return to the scene later for further investigation, and all five who live at the home have now been questioned. they were too shaken up and had no comment as they left police headquarters friday morning, during the break-in, one of the roommates in his 20's was pistol whipped. >> they seemed all right. i guess they seemed all right. might have a headache later

on. >> now these roommates rented this house. they range in age 21 to 28. police say they haven't really visited this home in the past, only for things like parties. so they say again that this neighborhood need not be on alert, that this was not a random attack. we will continue to follow the story. for now, liver outside of the new britain police department, here in bucks county, jan carabeo, cbs-3, "eyewitness news". >> thanks, jan we'll get back to you shortly. >> firefighters making headway in battling wild fire in burlington count. >> i more than -- burning off route 206. justin finch in shamong with an update on the fire. good morning. >> reporter: erika ukee, good morning. the weather and wind could really help or hinder effort this morning. we are told right now, it is leaning toward the helping side. this area right now under a dense fog advisory, but already we have seen new jersey forest fire service head into wharton state park or rather forest, to continue to fight back these flames.

let's take you now to video what we saw here last night. more than 700 acres burning out here, then late yesterday came word that the fire happened mostly contained this all day effort waged to help crews gain the upper hand. we also saw 75 firefighters on the gown setting backfires, to knock down the stronger flames here. additional volunteer firefighters also called in to guard an old church here in the area where this fire was burning. now, reinforcements, also came down from above. helicopters, and planes, dropping water take a listen. >> we could get real controls, go to tree top level if we had, to we could punch in if there was an area where we could put the bucket closer to the ground inside the trees if there was a specific spot that we had to get to. we could do. that will and this system is very accurate for spot fires that would go across the line or improving the line. it is a really effective means of water delivery.

>> now, with those air efforts, that's where the winds and fog really play a big factor. we are told the win could easily knock those aircraft around. so need stability in the skies to do their jobs there. also, the fog affect visibility so, as of right now, the planes may not go back out until much later in the afternoon, once all of the fog has burned off. i know for your commute this morning in this area, you may find that it may be slow going, smoke and fog playing a factor in your come youth along route 206. live in shamong justin finch "eyewitness news". justin, thank you. like justin said, the end can really help or hurt firefighters had morning. >> let's got more with katie outside. >> light winds guys. that's where the fog is actually coming from. you know, justin mentioned smoke out there in that fire site even surrounding communities, dog fog settling in across good portion of the area. doesn't include the fire site location at all. delaware entire southern tear of new jersey under a dense fog advisory this morning until at least 8:00 a.m.

some of these last until 9:00 a.m., depending on location bottom line through your monkeying among drive running into poor visibility, south and east of philadelphia. so depending where your travels take you, you have to watch for. that winds says it all. you need light winds, and certainly the moisture content in the air to get that fog to form in the first place. and we've got it perfectly out there. so, the situation is ripe for that. 56 degrees the current temperature in atlantic city, mid 50's, from philly all the way up toward mount pocono. storm scan, you know, there is fog out there. it is always tough to pick that up on saturday light. but it is there. otherwise, expect this fog to eventually get scoured out by the sunshine. the sun is now up. and it will do it part to help get rid of the worse of the low-lying cloud cover, lan have very easy time this afternoon, rebounding right back into the mid 80s in philadelphia. looks like nice afternoon for everyone actually, vittoria? >> looking forward to it, katie, thanks so much. good morning everybody if you are traveling out and about right now, i would say yes, the nice ness, now

finally starting to see some of the rush hour pick up, if you are traveling on 95, and this is great shot, shout out to my producer tim, you can kind of see the sun rising in the back here. this is 95, right around girard avenue. but, you definitely can see some rush hour billing in the southbound direction, and really the rush hour only continues to get worse out of the northeast down through to the vine street expressway. so even though moving in pockets, and it is just starting, it is still going to be slow. if you are traveling northbound on 95, not so much to worry about there. because of the slight haze that we have right now sun glare isn't too much of a problem. but, you do want to take it easy anyway. also, in ridley, do have accident on franklin avenue at amish land road. vehicle struck a pole there. avoid if you consideration but no delays for mass transit. erika? >> rowing tradition returns to philadelphia. the 2,015 dad vail regatta gets underway this morning crews from all over the country and canada are lining up on the banks of the schuylkill. >> time to get it on.

terror cents cents believe to be with boko haram started shooting in the school. five student shot and 45 others hurt trying to escape all of the chaos there is all happened at a business college, one of the attackers killed when his car bomb blew up in the parking lot. more update throughout the morning. meanwhile, chopper three is flying over breaking news right now in north phillyment looking live at the aftermath of a row home fire on dillman street, that sent two people to the hospital. we're told one of the victims was found laying face-down on the sidewalk and firefighters pulled the other victim out of the home. both are being treated for smoke inhalation. the flames also spread to neighbor neighboring home, but as you can see the fire is south right now. erika? >> new this morning teenage fugitive hasheem singletary, has turned himself in. that 16 year old, accompanied by his lawyer, and family, walked into southwest detectives late last night. singletary's been waiting since -- wanted rather since wednesday when he escaped from private contractors that were

there's over two hundred thousand students in philadelphia. jim kenney and tony williams are fighting over public schools versus charters. i think they're both wrong...it's making sure they all get a good education. teachers should have their contracts respected. they also should be held accountable. and it's wrong philadelphia gets less school funding than other parts of pennsylvania. i'll work with harrisburg to change that. but if they refuse i'll take them to federal court.

same thing on the 42 freeway starting to get even slower approaching the area of 295 on the northbound side of the 42, also, the northbound side of 55, and katie was talking about mother day, yes, ma'am mothers day sunday, so is the race for the cure. so expect closures for kelly drive. erika? >> thank you. this is just some incredible video capturing the moment a septa driver slips out of here seat and then drivers that route 29 bus onto train tracks in south philly. that bus was traveling on columbus boulevard tuesday when it made u-turn at dickinson streetment then the driver fell, she lost control of the bus which then crossed median before getting on the train tracks and it nearly hit that stopped freight train. "eyewitness news" spoke with septa about why that driver was not wearing a seatbelt. >> it is definately something that she should have been wearing, and if she had had that seatbelt on, i'm sure we would not be looking at this accident. >> the driver and two passengers suffered minor injuries, in that crash. septa is not releasing the

name of the worker involved. just scary few moments for passengers as smoke fills delta airlines jet. this is video from flag 2028 from fort fort lauderdale to leg guards ya. hour after taking off smoke filled the cockpit and the cabin of the mb88. catherine davis producer for cbs news 60 minutes shot this video. >> we could hear the beeping of the smoke alarm and it was pretty quickly the cabin filling up with smoke pretty quickly. so yes, it was a little nerve wracking. they told all of us to put our head, heads down, on our lambs, because the air would be fresher. >> and the pilots made an emergency landing in charleston, south carolina no one was hurt. another of the 89 possible inning ers on board tweeted this picture of the smokey cabin calling the experience, the scariest flight ever. and i can imagine. you're flying alone up there with the smoke indeed, pilots

darby borough. >> home invasion and robbery in bucks county two. men armed with guns burst into that home on south limekiln pike in chalfont just after midnight. >> home at the time, police say the suspect ransacked the home, before leaving with cash, cell phones, and other items. at least one victim was pistol whipped, police say they believe that home was targeted. well there is just is every parent's nightmare session eude preditor follows 13 year old girl from home and forces his way into her home. surveillance cameras inside the girls san jose home captured the encounter earlier this week. that man can be seen there pushing open the front door, then grabbing that young victim. the teen managed to break free, she even tried to find a weapon. that is when the suspect simply turned and left. police are hoping that this surveillance video will lead someone to recognize that suspect. so scary though. >> well, firefighters continue to battle the fire at wharton state forest, their effort are

working, the flames now we're told 50% contain. "eyewitness news" reporter justin finch joins us now in shamong with the very latest, justin good morning. >> ukee, good morning mostly contained, still a lot of work to do this morning. over of the course of the morning we're seen the conditions really change out here, and now, that the sun is up better look at what firefighters were up against as you can see, quited hazy out here, mix of the dense fog, as well as the hazy-like smoke coming from the area of the fire. can just take a look, see how compromised the site is out here near wharton state forest. now to video of just yesterday. the fire again mostly contained at this time. 50% of those 710 acres are now under control. we have had no report of any injuries, and also, no reports of any damage to any structures in the area. about 75 new jersey forest firefighters were on the grounds around the clock even using choppers from above, to drop water on the flames below. the conditions we are told are

actually ripe for fire this time of year. we've had days of no rain. the veg takes on the ground in the forest we are told is somewhat dry have not seen major burn in almost a century. take a listen. >> conditions hasn't been a lot of wind, not a lot of strong wind, but just enough 10-mile per hour breeze, it is very dry. we're in the middle of our forest fire season here in the pine barons. and a lot of this area has not burned since the 1920's, 30's, so it is very cones fuel. it is very inaccessible to motorized equipment. we have to do a lot of stuff on foot, and utilizing helicopters. >> when we saw that large plume -- >> reporter: you're looking at route 206, atsion, where a lot of the smoke has bill owed throughout the past several hours of the fire. you can see traffic moving somewhat slowly at this point because of visibility out here. we are waiting for the fog to burn off. so fire fight kearse go above and kind of reassess what they

are working with on the ground below. of course the wind also affect the helicopter going up, to drop that wire down, so the eyes will be on the weather and conditions this morning as they enter day two fighting back these flames. we are live in shamong, justin finch, cbs-3, "eyewitness news". thank you, just past 6:33, we want to check in with katie. how is the wind right now? >> winds actually very, very light, part of the reason, erika, fog is forming just not over that fire site but also good portion of the area. you are now basically barely able to see your hand if front of your face like places like millville, dover at or under half mile visibility or even just under a mile out in philadelphia right now. so depending on your location, where you are travels are taking you essentially the further southeast you travel where you will find this fog. but meantime, actually going to take you out here, to one of the live neighborhood network shots. this shot remind me a little bit of anybody ever seen that musical bringingado you know, scottish highlands? sort of the foggy glume

settling over the lush green greenery there? i mean, just beautiful yes beautiful to start the morning off here. but yes, you have little hint of poor visibility, even out toward berks county. so, it all just depends where you are going, if you run into that. but, it is out there. storm scan, hey, that's empty. so off to really nice start. that said, but we need that sun to do its part to help scour out the cloud cover. and it will eventually, also, allowing fire fighting effort to resume, as well. but, in the meantime, it really looks like nice afternoon across the board vittoria. >> thanks, katie. so far so good. weather wise, but can't say the same traffic wise, just getting slower and slower. we get outside, take a look, as you notice the sun beating on 422 right around the saint gabe's curve little hazy, value the sun glare peaking up, a lot of the majors, including 422. the best thing is that it is making this grass look so green and inviting. but if you are traveling on 422 in the eastbound direction, again, saint gabe's curve as you head down toward

"eyewitness news" reporter david spunt checked out the first day of the event at the convention center, and all of the excitement that surroundings it. >> i'm definately excited to be here man. >> just about anything can happen whether it comes to comic con. and this year is no exception. thursday night was the first of four nights in philadelphia, and everyone came with a story. >> mine could have been better. this is actually just put together like last night because i realized oh, the convention is the next day and everything. >> we found people from across the united states who took little time off to talk movies magazines and compare alter egos. >> just the first day, so i can't really speculate on how good it will be. but i'm sure it will be a loft fun. it always is. >> when comic confers began it was only comic plenty of comics at this year's festival, some new some very old, including this one. check out the price tag on the back. $2,500. a few celebrities even made appearance.
