tragedy for a couple visiting philadelphia. a woman crossing the street is hit and killed by a duck boat. we'll hear from witnesses coming up. >> also ahead authorities name a suspect in the recent abduction and rape in fishtown. and day two of the dad vail regatta thousands of college athletes are getting set for another day of the rowing competition on the schuylkill river. today is say darks may ninth, good morning thank for joining us, i'm nicole brewer. it is 5:00 on the dot. we send it over to carol. yesterday was so beautiful. just gorgeous day on the river. so homing we have another good day. >> well, we have the fog to start w you probably drove in in some of that. but if you are closer to the shore, you will be driving in

in even more of t let me show you right now the fog as it rolls in, right off the shore areas, and you can see that that's really impacting the visibility out there. specially the closer you get to the coastal areas. but it is out there. it is probably going to be out there the next couple every daysment look at some of the visibility just .3 after mile through millville half mile in wildwood, .8 after mile in dover, mile and a third and that's out at the airport in atlantic city, about 10 miles to the inland, now into the philadelphia area, looking at 8 miles worth of visibility, the more farmlands you see and the closer you are through south jersey and delaware, and closer to the coast that's where you're really going to be finding these visibilities being impacted. winds coming in out of the east right now fairly light as long as we can get them to pick up little bit we can get rid of the fog sooner n any case many areas along the coastal areas are looking at the dense fog advisory until 11:00 this morning temperature right now, it is mild out there. sixty-four in philadelphia, 60 in trenton 62 degrees in the

wilmington area. and as we break out the day today, we will be finding these temperatures by noon, 73 degrees by 5:00 p.m. 80 degrees mixture of sun and clouds out there. lots going on in the city this weekend, and we will spell out time period by time period exactly what we can expect weather wise, nicole? >> carol, thank you. new this morning, a shooting in the suburbs. police say a 20 year old man was shot in the abdomen just before 1:00 this morning. now, that victim was found in the street near tennis avenue and north spring garden street. actually in abington, montgomery county. that will victim is recovering this morning from none innocent life threatening injuries. so far authorities have not made an arrest. >> a tourist is left dead on center city street. the result after tragic accident involving a duck boat. horrified crowds watched as it all unfolded 11th and after in center city. "eyewitness news" reporter diana rocco spoke to eyewitnesses who describe what happened. >> people were telling -- she

wasn't paying a at the tension, whatever she was into she was into it. it happened so far. >> horror for husband walking stems in his wife as she is struck and killed by duck boat caring 28 passengers. >> he heard his wife scream behind him. then realized she had been struck. >> it happened at 111th and arch street just after 5:00 friday after the can con trenton center one of the busiest intersections at the busiest time of day. witness too shaken to up show her face talked to "eyewitn news". >> the duck boat was filled with people going by. they was talking, it was going by, like they usually do. and she wasn't paying attention it, just happened so quick. >> the 68 year old female was trapped underneath the vehicle, medics pronounced her dead at 5:27 p.m. she had severe head trauma, also massive injuries to her bod. >> i chopper three overhead as the woman is lying in the street. police say the duck boat had a green light, and was headed west on arch street when the woman stepped in front of the

boat. >> chaos, horrible incident, terrible. >> police said woman and her husband were tourist from texas on their way back to hilton garden in where they were staying for mothers day weekends. the woman's husband is escorted back into the hotel by police. he is still holding his wife's purse. >> just horrible. my heart's breaking nor woman. i pray for her. i hope to console her family the best we can. >> the 72 year old driver of the duck boat will likely be found not at fault. no charges expected to be filed. the ride the ducks organization has released a statement saying their thoughts and prayers are with the woman and her family, and they've offered cancelling to the riders affected. in center city, diana rocco cbs-3, "eyewitness news". and unfortunately this is not the first deadly accident involving a duck boat on july 7th 2010, 2 hungarian student died when barge being pushed by a tugboat capsized a dug both on the delaware river. federal investigators say that tugboat pilot was actually

distracted by family emergency, and on his cell phone just before that crash. a multi-million dollar settlement was reached in a lawsuit over those deaths. >> well, that's the latest on the investigation into a violent sexual assault in philadelphia's fishtown neighborhood. this morning, investigators have a pretty big break-in this case. the brother of the suspect is urging him to surrender to police. he spoke with "eyewitness news" reporter david spunt. >> because my brother didn't do nothing like that. i know my brother didn't do that. >> but police say jose's younger brother manuel did abduct and sexually assault 22 year old woman in fishtown, an hour after trying the same thing with another woman who got away. according to police sources, a victim told detectives, 24 year old manuel sin tone tried to attack her at 4:20 in the morning friday, may first. she told detective she was walking down ruscomb street when he came up with a gun and said quote let's go, and don't do anything stupid or i'll

shoot you in the head. the woman got away and called police. an hour later, a 22 year old was walking on east york street. she told police he came up to letter with a gun and said quote do exactly what i say and i won't hurt you. get into the van. police say this is the van seen in surveillance video. sources say: the woman spent over an hour with cintron where she was sexually assaulted. detective say he dropped her off few blocks away, back up van so she couldn't see his license plate. >> crazy crazy the charges serious, you know what i mean, and i don't see my brother doing. that will i really don't. >> after the woman called police she gave a description of her attacker, and the police sketch looked like this. here it is next to cintron picture. >> you know you didn't do nothing, let them know. get your name cleared you know? just let them know you didn't do nothing that's it. >> police say the victim is at home recovering. the van that you saw in the

is the final day of the 757 annual dad vail regatta. thousands getting ready to row on the river. for more on the festivities gee out live to alexandria huff along the bunks of the schuylkill river. good morning. >> good morning, take a look at the schuylkill right now as calm, as glassy as it will be all day. we are just three hours away from start time. we are going to see over 100 teams from all around the count rip hit the water and you know, the event kick off yesterday, nicole, as you know out here having lots of fun, enjoying the great weather. if you ask me it is the most beautiful rowing group in the worldment wouldn't have been so if it wasn't for dad vail. the university of wisconsin coach for which the regata is named. he and u penn coach wanted to solidify rowing programs and interests for schools struggling to form them around the county. here we are, 77 years later expecting upward of 10,000 attends a great showing yesterday, as you know, some

fire on a busy georgia road. no one on the ground was hurt. >> another night of severe weather in the southern planes, check out it tornado video from haines ville, texas. cbs's don champion with the latest from norman, oklahoma. >> hail, the size of golf and tennis balls fell on southwestern oklahoma friday, as another round of severe weather pounded the southern planes. several tornados were reported as the storms controls dollars from texas into oklahoma. wind gusts up to 60 miles an hour, knocked down power lines, outside oklahoma city, snarling traffic and causing widespread power outages. it is not just the winds that's causing problems here, the storms are also dumping several inches of rain in just couple of hours on land that was saturated by storms earlier in the week. some drivers who tried to cross low-lying areas quickly found themselves stuck. more storms are possible this weekend. >> on mothers day, the slight risk continues, a slightly lower threat for severe

weather, but higher flooding threat across this entire area. forecasters are warning resident to err on the side of caution. >> the atmosphere is very humbling and even though we can get much of the forecast right, there are often still storms here, there that produce perhaps more severe weather than we expect, and in some cases less. >> so far well over 60 tornados have been reported this week. don champion, cbs-3 "eyewitness news".a well tropical storm ana is strengthening as it gets closer to the carolinas its effect can be felt along the coast where boaters in south carolina are loving the swelling surf. ana's winds reached about 60 miles an hour, there are watches, warnings, issued along the mid-atlantic coast. now the storm is expected to bring several inches of rain to the carolinas. carol, i don't know, are we going to see the effect that far storm? >> you may finds it with cloud cover, ness of the weather over the next couple every days, otherwise just

passing off the coast probably monday night. that will would be off new jersey and delaware coast. should not really be impacting us in any measurable way at all. what's i am packing us right now is the fog. you specially have that at the shore. you can see the light just an indication of all of the fog and just moisture in the air that all of these lights are trying to get through. dense fog advisory out there until about 11:00 in the morning, along the shore areas, the closer you get through new jersey, in toward the philadelphia area. that's where it stops about 9:00 this morning. but the visibility can definitely be reduced out there. so you will certainly notice that if you are driving around. mild though, if you have been one ordering this mild weather, we are filling that order. 64 degrees in philadelphia right now, 60 in trenton, 62 wilmington, 59 down in millville. it is 48 in the poconos. a little bit different in a lot of locations this morning. what is not so different is the fact that we are all watching now tropical storm ana. you can see as it spins here,

not big deal system of course at this point maximum winds of about 60 miles an hour, we will be finding a cold front that also comes through here, over the next couple of days. so it is very active in the eastern united state. just relatively quiet for us now with the fog. when you see fog, it is generally relatively quiet. but, there is tropical moisture down there and you can see that fog getting kicked in here. and some morning clouds, we will find that over the next couple of days in fact. tomorrow morning we will be finding fog again probably monday morning as well. so this is a look at the system, and this is the look at the system as we get little tighter view. you can see where the red shade something along the coast, that's where the dangerous rip current are. and in that part of the world through the carolinas, they are out in the water at this point. we have temperatures today in our area, probably about 80 degrees. we might find an agree or two higher than that. otherwise, partly sunny as we move into the afternoon hours. you can see that we've got tropical storm to our south. also got that front that's

going to be coming through here, it won't be here on sunday though, tomorrow, look for some fog in the morning then sun in the afternoon temperatures still in the 80s but probably higher into the middle 80s then monday maybe start of chance of shower, thunderstorm, weaver a lot of weather factors going on. now, as far as the timing on anything goes, this computer mod sell rightly picking up on some of the clouds that we're finding out there. by 3:00 this afternoon they've less toned good agree. and then tomorrow, we start to see some fog once again, in the morning and then maybe a spotty shower in the afternoon. could somebody see an isolated thunderstorm to the south? that's probably possible, as we watch that big system going off the coast. and then, by monday, maybe couple of spotty showers in the morning some generalized shower maybe thunderstorm as we move through the afternoon monday. and then tuesday i think we probably run into the very same thing. headed to the dad vail are you? 80 degrees, looks like nice morning. pretty foggy out there this morning, but partly sunny

later on. winds will be light for the most part five to 10 miles an hour. 65 degrees. and then, mother day tomorrow, we've got temperatures in the middle 80s, remember that morning fog and the third time in 20 years the temperatures have been over 80 degrees. seventy-three for race for the cure tomorrow. so so much going on, nicole. but look at these temperatures, they are in the 80s for the first part of the week. then after that we are looking at temperatures that will be dropping a lot by the time we get to wednesday, and they are in the 70s low 70s, at that. >> well, we can handle low 70s, i think carol thank you. it is 5:18. more trouble for bill cosby. atlantic city police now investigating rape allegations against him. actress lilly bernard claims cosby drugged and raped her. she reportedly spoke with atlantic city police last week. now, it is unclear when the alleged conduct happened, but there is no statute of limitations on rape in new jersey. bernard's attorney gloria allred released statement reading in part lilly is very glad that she made her report

yesterday and she want other women to know that if they allege and have they had a they were victimized by mr. cosby in new jersey that they should also report their allegations to the police there. >> well, congress is encouraging states to step up penalties and education to reduce texting and driving. minnesota senator amy is introducing legislation next week. the government estimate that any moment, 660,000 people are using cell phones or other hand held electronics behind the wheel. researchers say it makes drivers 23 more times likely to crash. texting while driving is outlawed in pennsylvania, new jersey, and delaware. on the cbs morning news, just in time for mothers day new skin is her up that some women say is reversing years of damage making them look years younger. health reporter stephanie stahl explains how it works.

today is saturday, may ninth, thanks for joining us i'm nicole brewer. just about 5:30, we send it over to carol for the forecast. busy weekend? >> really is. we've got the dad vail, it is mother day race for the cure, and then just million other events that are going on. we need the weather to cooperate this weekend. basically it will. though we do start with some fog out there this morning. you can see as we take a look at center city philadelphia, not big deal, because it may be taking off the top 30, 40 floors of some of those belted action. but on the gown, it is fine. it is as you get closer to the coast, through south jersey you find the fog lower to the grounds, and harder to get around. and those are the areas where the dense fog advisory is in effect until about 11:00 the closer you are to the coast

and around 9:00 this morning through the mt. laurel and salem areas. soap, a foggy start you'll get used to, that because over the next couple of days, we will also be find that to be true. we have visibilities, right now, just half mile through atlantic city and wildwood, .3 of a mile through millville, 1 mile in dover and everybody beyond that, by the time up get to philadelphia. it is a little bit better, but certainly along the new jersey and delaware areas just watch it. storm scan3 showing the fog as it rolls on in. and there is a lot of it out there. we have mild temperatures, though, than is the nice part of the morning, 64 in philadelphia, right now, in the 60s in number of locations. we have temperatures that by noon will be getting into the lower 70s high temperature today around 80 degrees, we will be finding some sun some clouds out there looks like nice day coming up once we can bright ten up just little bit. but, that will be coming, nicole until. >> all right carol thank you. and speaking of events, the final day of competition in

the dad vail regatta kicks off in about 90 minutes thousands of collegiate athletes are taking part, and "eyewitness news" reporter alexandria huff is there. when we talk about jam up on the schuylkill today we may mean the river. not the expressway. right? a lot of boats throughout? >> that's right. yes, this is a six lane expressway here, this event today. i know you're out yesterday. you got really inter-active with your story, looks awesome, real excited to be here today. we're about two and a half hours youth from start time. of course this is day two no time over 100 teams from around the country are going to be hitting the water shaking it up. now if you ask me, it is the most beautiful rowing route in the world t wouldn't have been so if it wasn't for dad vail. the university of wisconsin coach, for which the regatta is named. him and u penn coach wanted to solidify rowing programs and interest in student and for schools struggling to form these teams around the country. so, here we are, 77 years later, expecting upward of

all of everyone here. >> hall is a lacrosse player and is said to become a police office nerve washington, d.c., after graduation. but she's in critical condition right now. the driver who reported confessed to hitting hall, roberts, charged thursday with fleeing the scene after accident. well, chopper three over an accident on friday involving five vehicles. this is the intersection of allendale and keebler roads in king of prussia montgomery county. officials say at least two people were taken to the hospital. there is no word yet on what caused that crash. well, a judge declares a mistrial for the manna cured of murdering aton paths. this morning hearing from the jury including one juror who says he could not convict the suspect from maple shade. "eyewitness news" reporter natasha brown has more on that decision, that has left one of the nation's highest profile missing children's cases unresolved. >> you know what you did. >> anger and frustration from

the poor woman of the jury after 18 hours of deliberations, a mistrial after one hold out juror who said he couldn't find pedro hernandez every killing et etanpat z- for me his confession was very bizarre, no matter how many times it happened it, got more and more bizarre. and i feel the initial confession, there were lots of issues surrounding custody surrounding miranda rights. >> prosecutors say the maple shade new jersey man arrested in 2012 confessed to strangling and killing six jerold etan in new york in 1979. stanley, etan's father spoke out for the first time since the trial start in the january. >> etan was a beautiful outgoing friendly, curious little kid. he would have made a great adult. >> with the jury deadlock, prosecutors say they will retry this case, but defense attorneys for hernandez say they've had the wrong man the

entire time. >> i would say that there is only a resolution if the correct man is held responsible. and we firmly believe that pedro hernandez is not the right man. >> pedro hernandez will remain lock up while the retrial process progresses. prosecute letters rely this case with more definitive answer in june. in the sat center, natasha brown, cbs-3 "eyewitness news". just shocking discovery by spanish customs workers who found a eight year old boy inside a suitcase. an x-ray of that bag first revealed what officers believe to be a human silhouette. they say young woman smuggled that boy into spain from the ivory coast. she is now facing charges. that child is okay, and is now in the care of social services. >> well, just when you thought it was safe to go back in. a great white shark is being tracted off the jersey shore. the 3500 pounder was north of brigantine yesterday and our steve patterson tells us the shark's arrival has some beach

people hoping for good weather. >> yes generally we like that when we have to do outside things and this is the time of year you want to get outside. it looks beautiful through the poconos right now. you can see they don't have any fog there. they are pretty far from the coast. and as the coast where you are really looking at the fog so you can see or barely see ocean city, i should say. boardwalk is out there. but, there is dense fog. then you move into the philadelphia area, and it starts to lessen by the time we get here, than is a view you can see across the delaware, from the palmyra cove nature park, all the way over into the philadelphia area across the delaware. so the sky conditions are not as bad here, but around the shower areas, south jersey, delaware, be real careful driving around this morning. 61 degrees, the present temperature, and that is out in new jersey, 64, out at the airport, in philadelphia, we have 60 in trenton, 62 in wilmington, 59 down in millville, in all of the areas of the fog and then you head up to the poconos clear skies, low drops 48 degrees

fog, just like we did today. and we will be finding some sunshine by afternoon temperatures will be higher tomorrow, and they should be in the middle eight's, and then by monday, shower or thunderstorm, as the system gets little closer and pulls away, and the front comes on through. weather changes a lot. i think mid-week on, the temperatures really drop for this time of the year. they get where they're supposed to be instead of above normal where we're finding them right now. future weather in to motion, some breaks in the clouds, as we go through 3:00 this afternoon, as we move on through tonight, we have some clouds weaver some fog we start with some fog tomorrow morning, and couple of clouds, as well. but, nothing that's going to impact race for the cure, or doing whatever it is that you want to do. by noon, sunday, we still find a few clouds. we find few breaks. do we find a shower? perhaps isolated thunderstorm, and in one spot, maybe on sunday afternoon. otherwise, i think monday you have better chances every picking up a shower or thunderstorm.
