>> ♪ >> from the cbs broadcast center in p is cbs3 "eyewitness news". >> right now at 6 o'clock a gloucester county couple is behind bars accused of causing serious injuries to a two-year-old girl. good evening, everyone, i'm natasha brown. thanks so much for joining us. jacob lynn and jennifer pandorf were arrested yesterday. "eyewitness news" reporter steve patterson spoke with neighbors and joins us now live in washington township with the latest. steve. >> reporter: natasha doctors tell police that two-year-old little girl was so badly injured she was hemorrhaging from her retina and bleeding from her brain. tonight that child is

recovering and so, too, is the neighborhood where police made an arrest. >> any time a child is involved it's just heartbreaking, you know. really makes me sad. >> reporter: police and prosecutors agree. charges now filed against the washington township couple accused of severe child abuse. >> i did see a police officer and an ambulance go by. >> reporter: one day neighbor the neighbor now realize what is she saw. friday police arrested 25-year-old jacob lynn and 24-year-old jennifer pandorf from their home on luke coastal storm lane n mid april the couple was taking care of lynn's two-year-old daughter who lives with her mother at another address. after a three day trip with her father police say the mother got her daughter back so badly injured she was bleeding from her brain. >> this is a family neighborhood. you see children all the time. you don't expect someone to do that to a young child. she remains in recovery at a local rehab center.

>> just i hope she's okay, that's all i care. >> reporter: both lynn and pandorf charged with aggravated assault and endangering the welfare of a child remaining behind bars bail. reporting from the washington township police headquarters, steve patterson cbs3 "eyewitness news." >> steve thank you so much. also now police have identified the woman who was pinned under a duck boat and killed yesterday in chinatown as 68-year-old elizabeth karnicke of texas. the accident happened yesterday afternoon on the corner of 11th and arch streets. she tried to cross the street against the red light while looking at an electronic device. no charges are expected to be filed against the driver in this case. police meantime are looking for surveillance video to corroborate witness accounts. five people injured in a crash involving several cars in philadelphia's mayfair

neighborhood. "eyewitness news" on tyson avenue. the impact forced an engine out of one of the vehicles. they all suffered major damage. authorities say the crash victims are currently in stable condition. the cause is still under investigation. >> and authorities are searching for a montgomery county teenage here has been missing for nearly three weeks. upper merion township police are asking for the public's help trying to locate nicholas tonanzi. he left his home in king of prussia about 10:00 p.m. on wednesday. police say tornambe is an avid hiker who has a specific interest at horseshoe trail at valley forge national park. the search continues for the suspect in an abduction and rape in fishtown. police are looking for this man, 24-year-old manuel cintron. the attack happened may first on ruscomb street. police say he grabbed the 22-year-old woman dragged her into a van and raped her. cintron had allegedly tried the same thing on another woman just an hour before but

she got away. yesterday cintron's brother spoke with "eyewitness news" urging manuel to turn himself in. if you have seen cintron please contact police right away. now more than 200 british airways passengers are finally in new york after spending hours stranded here in philadelphia. the flight from london to j.f.k. was diverted to philadelphia overnight and held for hours on the runway before the flight was finally canceled. now, the passengers then spent hours waiting for customs to open. among them, actor jeremy piven. many tweeted their frustrations including piven who said in a now deleted tweet, british airways from london they will hold us seven hours here on the ground in philly. no one is telling us why. now british airways says the flight was diverted because of bad weather. some tourists at yellowstone national park in montana got quite the scare when they were chased by a family of black bears. it looks like the curious

spectatobit too close for comfort to the mama and her cubs yesterday. according to wildlife experts you should stay at least a hundred yards away from a bear and it's never a good idea to run away. that actually triggers a predator response. the nation's largest collegiate rowing event continued today in philadelphia. more than a hundred teams descended on the schuylkill river hoping to make their mark on the dad vail regatta. "eyewitness news" reporter alexandria hoff has more. >> reporter: as dawn broke over the schuylkill river so did the eggs. a final source of fuel for the final day of this 77th annual aberdeen dad vail regatta. >> there's a lot of reasons for people to come down and watch the races. you see america's best. >> reporter: officials went over last minute orchestrations. [laughter] >> reporter: all are volunteers and most like organization president jim hannah are former rowers.

g. komen race for the cure for breast cancer. 25 years of saving lives. we are live on the air starting bright and early at 6:00 a.m. on mother's day tomorrow may tenth. all right, justin a lot is riding on this week's forecast. regatta, a race tomorrow. >> it's going to be warm and humid but we'll be dealing with fog again in the morning. could be some areas of dense fog but we could see sunshine for the afternoon but it's really feeling like summer for the next few days. >> it is. >> i can hear the complaints already. too humid around philadelphia. here's what's happening at the shore right now. live look at ocean city. the fog bank settles in. so common for this time of year because you have chilly ocean water and warm air over it. that's what develops the fog and it's stuck over the coastal areas and will move inland tonight. on storm scan3 kind of in between two systems. one system to our south that's tropical storm ana. rain showers coming up to northern north carolina. most that of rain stays to our south and won't impact us.

we have a cold front across the ohio valley. that stays there for the next few days so we're going to be sitting in that warm and humid air mass. still that flow coming in off the ocean so there will be areas of fog developing again tonight lingering through the first half of sunday morning. dense fog advisory goes into effect once again for coastal new jersey and delaware. visibilities down to a quarter of a mile or less. that kicks off at midnight tonight all the way until 9:00 a.m. sunday morning. here are the current temperatures. little sunshine out, warmed us up to near 80 today got to 79 officially at philadelphia. we're in the upper 70's now but the farther west you go away from that influence of the cold ocean look at that, 86 degrees this hour in pittsburgh, 85 in cleveland. it stays warm and humid. still we'll be under the influence of that flow off the water. i don't think we'll be dealing with upper 80's tomorrow but it will get warmer next week. here's ana what's left of the storm. winds at 60 miles per hour, gusts up to 70. it will make landfall looks like early tomorrow morning along the carolina coast and quickly weaken the not a big storm. most of the rain probably

won't get above southern delaware later on sunday into monday then the storm will just move out to sea and really not impact us at all. temperatures tomorrow again low to mid 80's after the morning fog. kind of a repeat of what we had today. just a few degrees warmer. monday fronts moves in from the west. better chance for a scattered shower or storm mainly from the front. you'll notice what's left of ana trying to move northward. then it just gets kicked out to sea by that front. it's still warm but we could make a run at 90 degrees on tuesday. there's that fog moving right in from the ocean through the overnight hours. sticks around 8:00 a.m. tomorrow morning to kick off race for the cure. it will be foggy but we should break into sunshine for the afternoon. we'll do it all over again sunday night fog moves back in, sticks around for monday morning. should see some sun for monday afternoon but there could be a pop-up shower or thunderstorm. let's break it down to your. tonight areas of fog developing otherwise partly cloudy. 64 for the low temperature. going to be humid so a muggy overnight. here's your race for the cure

planner. getting up at 6 o'clock watch out for the fog, temps in the mid 60's by 8:00. by 10:00 should start to see a little more surgeon we're into the low 70's and happy mother's day by the afternoon making it up to 84 degrees after that fog dissipates in the morning. here's the extended forecast. mid 80's monday with a shower or storm. 88 on tuesday. that's our warmest day. still a storm chance and look what happens seconds half of next week.
