♪ >> from the cbs broadcast center in philadelphia this is cbs3 "eyewitness news". right now at 11:00 o'clock a family desperate for answers. this 20-year-old man hasn't been seen since wednesday and tonight there's growing concern about his safety. good evening everyone, i'm natasha brown. thanks so much for joining us. rasheed young's cell phone is the only clue investigators have since the young man actually vanish. "eyewitness news" reporter matt rivers has the story now from upper darby.

>> reporter: this is 20-year-old rasheed young. his family says he's a nice young man with fairly severe development mental disabilityies who can take care of himself but only to a certain point. he's been missing sips wednesday wednesday. >> he has been the ideal child. he is just great. >> reporter: rasheed has been award thed the state --... has been award of the state for most of his life. he and a family friend took the dog for a walk around the same time. from kathy's clifton heights home the pair walked a few miles during the 69th street transportation center. that's when things went wrong. he told a friend he was walking the dog with he'd be back in 10 minutes and apparently came towards this mcdonald's. witnesses then say they watched him get into some kind of an suv and take off. that's the last time that rasheed was seen. while the young man remains missing his cell phone was discovered on thursday just a few blocks east on market street

street. >> i continually called it. hoping he'd answer. and a gentleman answered it and the next day. >> upper darby police are investigateing sane while they're not sure if foul play is involved they're certainly not ruling anything out. rasheed's new familiar until concern is at the top of their list. >> i say no news is good news. but then i say no news, you know, so i go back and forth. >> reporter: if anyone has any knowledge of rasheed's whereabouts, you're asked to call upper darby police. matt rivers cbs3 "eyewitness news". >> also news new tonight gunfire follows a fight in darby bullet borough borough. officers say after the melee this man fired several shots with children playing nearby. darby borough police chief robert smythe has harsh words about the wreck less incident. >> they're moron. the only way i can put this. people just take these guns and

they're shooting in the neighborhoods. sooner or later someone is going to be -- there's going to be a fatality here. >> in no one was hit and there's no word yet on what starred this fight. if you have any information about this suspect please contact police right away. going to be hot and humid start to the work week. fog could make for slow morning commute. meteorologist gentleman justin drabick is live with the first forecast. hey, justin. >> no fog yet. feels like the middle of summer outside right now. temperatures well into the 70s a lot of humidity going on. you might have to turn your ac on. let's check out storm scan3. earlier this evening a couple of spot city showers those have dissipate. we'll keep things dry overnight. wait for that fog to develop. eastern new jersey and southern delaware best shots to see the dense fog closer to the owing. >> they're the temperatures. inland spots well into the 70s. allentown 74 degrees right now.

reading 72. 69 in wilmington. 73 here in philadelphia. the suburbs kind of the same deal. mid 70s palmyra, new jersey. 72 in pottstown. quakertown south winds continue. south to southeast 10 miles per hour or less. that's that warm humid flow off the water. again, a dense fog advisory neck at midnight for eastern new jersey and central and southern delaware we could be seeing visible less than quarter of a mile once this fog developments right now we're looking good as far as the visibilities go. so that fog has not settled in yet but it will through the overnight hours. eventually break we'll break out to more sunshine tomorrow afternoon could be isolated shower or storm once again mid 80s for philadelphia. mid and upper 70s for the shore and the poconos. we'll talk about how long the heat and humidity last in the seven day forecast come coming up in few more minutes. gnat. >> thank you justin. mother nature's fury on display from the great planes to the midwest treacherous weather has caused flooding and in texas tornadoes left their mark on at

least two towns. cbs correspondent don champion shows us some of the hardest hit areas. >> reporter: a close call in sangor texas for a black hawk helicopter and the national guard. the rescuers almost needed rescue themselves in the dramatic struggle to save two men stranded on a submerged pick up track. but in the end success. not far away in the town of crumb, flood waters over took homes even a baby in a basket was saved. >> i may drown in the process but i will make sure the babies and everybody else is okay. >> she slept through the whole thing. she slept through it. >> reporter: tornado was also reported near denton. >> wind just blowing really hard and it kind of started sounding like a freight train. >> trees were knocked down and roofs were ripped off buildings. more than 100 miles to the west, they were cleaning up in cisco. >> wow! >> reporter: after saturday's violent twisters killed one person with another still in critical condition.

a tornado cut right through phillips property. >> you can't beat mother nature. >> reporter: severe weather even reached into to south dakota where tornado tour the roof of this 100-year-old church in dell moment. luckily no one was inside. snow also fell sunday in another part of the state. don champion cbs3 "eyewitness news". >> the first named storm of the season tropical depression ana is churning north tonight. a* her winds topped 45 miles an hour when it made landfall as tropical storm this morning just north of myrtle beach. it caused two to 3 feet of beach erosion. storm has weakened but ana still dropped up to 6-inches of rain in isolateed areas of the carolinas. meantime philadelphia police investigating a pair of separate shootings that happened just blocks await from each other. the first happened on the 800 block of south street about 1:20 this morning. two men were shot in the legs and rushed to the hospital. they were listed in stable condition.

also, less than two hours later police responded to another shooting on the corner of ninth and bainbridge. officers found a 19-year-old man lying in the road about a block away with a gunshot wound to the leg. he was rush to the hospital and is expected to be okay. the gunman in both of these shootings are still on the loose loose. a woman is forced to jump from her kingsessing home trying to escape a fire. fire crews rushed to the home on the 5700 block of grace avenue in king says sipping at about 11:00 this morning. "eyewitness news" reporter steve patterson has the story. >> reporter: seconds to react. >> i opened my door and just scene foresight shooting out the windows report roar exclusive video from eyewitness shawn barber shows the harrowing seconds after flames rage out of this home in the 5700 block of grace avenue. not the mother' days morning next door neighbor yvonne expected. >> it was coming shooting out of that door and everything. >> police say her neighbors a man in his 20s and woman in her

50s were inside when the fire broke out shortly before college. man able to escape by running out. the woman neighbors name juanita trapped on thislily way awning with billowing black smoke behind her. >> she was covered in soot and she was very scared. you could tell by her face. she was disorient. it was very scary. >> reporter: eyewitness tyra who didn't want to be appear on camera watched her neighbor call plummeting on to the car parked below. >> she hit her face on the car. >> reporter: tyra who has only been in the neighborhood two weeks decideed to take action. checking for injuries and comfortingcomforting the woman water and warm blankets until help arrived. >> what made you run out and help them. i'm a human being. >> that woman taken to the hospital treated for minor burns and bruises no one seriously injured in this. of course, the cause under investigation. reporting from southwest philadelphia i'm steve patterson cbs3 "eyewitness news".

>> fire crews battleed flames bensalem home today. firefighters responded to the 3700 block of meridian drive about 5:20 this morning. three people and two pets got out of the house safely. no injuries were reported. the cause of the fire is still under vest tonight. now a lawmaker is calling for changes at us customs after a plane full of passengers got stuck in philadelphia for hours. the international flight was bound for jfk in new york. but was diverted to philadelphia because of bad weather late friday night. the passengers including actor jeremy piven were held on the tarmac and then eventually transferred to a holding area until customs finally opened at 5:00 a.m. saturday. today senator chuck schumer said the situation was unacceptable. >> i'll be contacting customs immediately. there ought to be some people from customs on duty so in case there's a diversion they can go there. for people to have to sleep in

police officers. 34-year-old benjamin dean and 25-year-old la cory tate were killed during a traffic stop in hat tease burg last night. the suspects were caught after a statewide manhunt through the overnight hours. the mayor said the support for the department and the officers families has been amazeing. >> i've got many many calls this morning from community leaders and people just regular citizens and they want to know how they can help. we've asked them to pray. we've asked if you have a flag at your house just as i've done at my house to lower it at half staff. >> suspects 29-year-old margin banks and 22-year-old joan cal oh way face two counts of capitol murder. 26-year-old curtis banks facing two counts of accessories to capital murder and cornelius clark charge charged with obstruction of justice. >> cuban president visited pope francis today at the vatican. they met for about an hour.

officers helped hand out free mr. softy ice cream helping kids treat their moms to a nice gift. officers say children have been asking them to help do something special for their mothers and this is what they did. very nice. a sea of pink on the parkway today for the last 25 years cbs3 partnered with komen philadelphia for the race for the cure. it's brought aunt less numbers of cancer patients, survivors and their supporters to the parkway. and this year was no different. the men and women of "eyewitness news" were proud to take part nest event. jessica dean has more. >> reporter: 25 years a silver anniversary but on this day pink was the color. >> i run for the women that can't. i spread my message for the women so they understand awareness is the key. >> reporter: more than 6,000 cancer survivors walked down the art museum steps this mother's day but the first race in 1991, it was a manage smaller crowd. the stigma of the disease still strong. now they march an army of women

and men no longer content to simply whisper their diagnosis. they converge on the parkway with a single goal, beat cancer. >> i'm here standing today and i didn't think i would be and they just have to continue to fight. we are a band of brothers and sisters we'll stick together. and carry each other through. >> the crowd here at the 25th annual race for the cure included young and old men and women. it is a disease that does not discriminate. we saw children there to hahn their moms. >> happy mother's day! >> and survivors honored by the support. >> for me it's just to see all these survivors and all their families come out and just support and just come together with one another and just show love. >> reporter: the women and men of "eyewitness news" were in full force. snapping selfies, running in the race and cheering on the crowd. >> we are here with team diva.

that's all the effects we'll get. right now generally partly cloudy sky a stronger cold front to the west stays out here for another 24 to 48 hours not until tuesday until that front arrives. then wee see a big change in the temperatures until then it's hot, it's humid temperatures well into the 80s for monday and tuesday. remember 72 is where we should be for this time of year. and then into wednesday we go. dropping even more. close to average that's where we should be lower 70s by the middle part of the week then by the end of the week little bit of a warmup still not too bad for this time of year. 74 degrees the current temperature in allentown. 72 in trenton. atlantic airport 70. everybody is in the warming humid air mass across the mid atlantic and northeast. no signs of any cool downs just yet. once again we'll keep thing on the steamy side that's how it's going to feel for monday and tuesday then we get the front through here later tuesday night night. that pushes out out humidity drops the tepp chess. pleasant conditions return for wednesday and thursday. if you don't like the heat and

i used to be able to have students come in and we do a social studies project and it was connected to language arts and it was connected to math. we educated in such an interdisciplinary way that educated the whole child. the testing shouldn't be in the driver's seat. i should be in the driver's seat. i should be directing my students in a way that's helping them make connections not just for an assessment but for life.
