it will be hotter tomorrow than it's been in the month of may in a very long time. good evening i'm chris may. >> i'm jessica dean. this heat can be dangerous if you're not ready for it. meteorologist kathy orr is live outside on the cbs3 sky deck with more on this spring sizzle. kathy? eighths ma amazing. we'll be challenging record heat across the delaware valley tomorrow in philadelphia a record that is stood for more than 100 years. it's not just the heat it's the humidity that will be an issue well feeling much more like summer. now here's the setup. we do have partly cloudy sky over us right now but ahead of a cold front, we have the surge of heat and humidity. behind that front a welcomed change but first we have to deal with sultry heat. it will be muggy overnight tonight. the air is very thick. during the day tomorrow, humidity will be high, and it will be feeling like it's even warmer than the temperature. we'll be talking about the heat index again well into the 90s. first forecast calls for temperatures around 70 degrees at 7:00 a.m.

up and it's going to be -- they're not messing around any more with this brand. the nfl suspended its biggest star and hammered its most successful modern day franchise. deflate-gate went from a clever little phrase to a permanent place in nfl history. tom brady will sit for four games because of his alleged actions his team is fined $1 million. a record. the pats lose that are first round draft pick in 2016 and a fourth round pick in 2017. nfl players saw this coming. >> i think troy vincent the executive vice-president of the inform fl he said it best. he said no one is exempt from the rules. and that really hit home because a lot of people thought tom brady wouldn't be suspended because he is the face of the nfl so to speak but they have to come down hard because they had to set a precedence dense. >> talk radio has been a buzz since the wells report indicated that brady was generally aware that co-workers were deflateing

the crane moving. as we move them we started seeing -- in they found a backpack containing food and snacks near the body. >> dramatic seen on the northeast extension today a big rig changes lanes and crushes a small car with two women inside. tonight our david spunt walks us through a remarkable rescue. he's live at abington hospital with new information. david. >> reporter: chris, i spoke to katrina moaning tonight she's good spirits driving the car inside the passenger seat her 78 year old mother. they're okay. they're still in a little bit of shock. they were literally just inches away from death. katrina moaning hadn't her mother were on their way to the mall monday afternoon when police say a ups tractor trailer swerved causing their little mazza miata founder the ups truck. >> there was no visual reference. i couldn't even tell which way we were going. everything was happening so fast. and i just new there was nothing i could do.

>> she and her mother stayed calm waiting for help that. help was there in just minutes thanks to towamenson fire chief so much seifert the first on the scene. >> just part of the job. every situation is different when you show up. >> he told "eyewitness news" the women were noticeably calm inside a hot car with outside temperatures a edge progress the upper 80s. >> ems was feeding them water. the crews working around the car were constantly talking to the patients just letting them know what's going on. >> reporter: minutes later crews started cutting part of the truck and car to sent moaning and her mother free. one wrong movement could have been deadly. two hours after the ordeal began, the women were out.to be alive. >> all i could do was just look at all the face in front of me and every set of eyes that i looked at was just so reassuring that i just stayed calm. >> reporter: police say the driver admitted to fault.

she will be leaving the hospital tomorrow. she's resting comfortably. meanwhile her 78-year-old mother sustained minor injuries. she is already out of the hospital tonight. we're live in abington, david spunt cbs3 "eyewitness news". >> that is one close call. david, thank you. a student on board a schoolbus in injured by a flying brick. the bus was taking students from the school of the future home when that brick smashed through that window along aspen street in west philadelphia. it was a female student hit in the face. she did have some cuts. but is expected to be okay. police believe that the brick was tossed by some kids who were walking along that street. >> "eyewitness news" on the temple university campus there was a vigil for 22-year-old rachel hall. she was critically injured april 29th when the bike she was riding was hit by a car at park avenue and diamond streets in north philadelphia. the driver of that car 18-year-old rashaun roberts fled the scene. he was driving with a learner's perm not license. and he's now facing charges. a deadly fire in

philadelphia's kensington neighborhood is now being investigated as a possible arson arson. flames tour through the apartment home on the 3200 block of kensington avenue this morning. several residents jumped or fell from the second story as they tried to escape that fire. one man died from the fall. the owner robert mitchell believes someone set the fire on purpose. fire officials say the building did not have required smoke alarms and mitchell claims that attendant destroyed the alarm system. that tenant has denied any involvement. a bill on swatting is making its way through the new jersey legislation. swatting is when someone prank calls authorities with a false report of shootings, bombs or hostage situations getting authorities to respond unnecessarily. this bill calls for tougher penalties including up to 10 years in prison and a $150,000 fine. the bill sponsor is democratic assemblyman paul moriarty of gloucester county who fell victim to swatting just last month. a burlington county woman is

behind bars tonight accused of of selling tickets to a cheryl crow concert in medford that crow was never even booked to play. >> police arrested the concert promotor 42-year-old kelly bryant over the weekend. alleging she sold tickets to that show which was to be held at the flying w airport. we spoke with the woman who says she was duped. >> how does that feel? >> it feels like crap. i mean you know i would have been out like almost thee hundred dollars. >> this is a nice place. this shouldn't have happened to the flying w. >> she's not alone. police believe that at least 200 people may have been victimized. before i yann is being held on $100,000 bond tonight. the flying w says it had nothing to do with the promotion or the sale of those tickets. shining a spotlight on governor chris christie and his spending tonight. >> one big bill in particular is making headlines to the tune of more than $80,000. we'll break it down for you. that's next. >> also, pollen is everywhere. it's making people miserable.

>> man quitted in the shooting death of trayvon martin became the victim of gunfire today. a man opened fire on a car driven by george zimmerman. police say zimmerman and the man know each other. because they got into a road rage incident last september. investigators have yet to file charges in the case. zimmerman was not hurt. he is out of the hospital tonight. this is the latest in a string of brushes with the law for the 31-year-old. shortly after his acquittal in the martin case, zimmerman was stopped for speeding near dallas texas. did he have a gun in the car but it was legal. later that year, he got into a fight with his then girlfriend. he was arrested but the charges were later dropped. and this past january zimmerman

was arrested again for domestic violence but formal charges were never filed. a medical marijuana bill backed by pennsylvania governor tom wolf is expected to clear the state senate tomorrow. today the senate expanded this bill adding self conditions to the list of illnesses that could be treated by marijuana. the senate passed similar bill last year but it happened late in the alleges lidge session wasn't never voted on by the house. a new report claims new jersey governor christie spent ofs of thousands of taxpayer dollars at metlife stadium. according to watch dog.org governor paid $82,000 to delaware north sport service between 2010 and 2011. that company operates concession concessions retail at metlife. the money was reportededly reimbursed by the new jersey republican state committee. shoppers in hong kong run for cover when a boar arc wild

issueissued an advisory and stephanie stahl has more. >> nice deep breath, plea. >> breathing has been a problem for 16-year-old ashley. she has allergies and uses an inhaler. but now she also needs nebulizer treatments because her asthma has been so bad. >> makes it harder to breathe like you feel like you're going to like pass out or something. >> reporter: early may has brought what some are calling a pollennami. tree and grass pollen are extremelyextremely high at the tame which is unusual. you can blame our nasty winter that dragged through march. >> emergency rooms in philadelphia have seen a significant increase in the number of people with asthma problems related to the high pollen counts, and that's triggered an advisory from the city health department warning all doctors that may see more patients. >> we're having major problem -- >> dr. george martin at len ken

gnaw medical center says it's one of the worse spring allergy seasons he's ever seen. >> people find it harder to breathe because they have this mucus clogging their air waves and they develop selling in the airways like you develop it in your nose and inflammation in your airways as well. >> warner bailey doesn't have asthma just severe allergies. and his regular medicine isn't working i back for a new round of testing hoping to find a remedy. >> mostly it's like headaches i get a lot of runny nose, sneezing very cloudy feeling. and it's no fun. it's been a struggle this spring especially. >> there are also prescription nasal sprays and this year for the first time one of those sprays flonase is available over the counter. >> when you come from in from inn p outside you can be covered with pollen. keep it out of your house. first thing take off your shoes.

of that white that is some poor visibility with the fog rolling in and we are going to be seeing that getting a little bit worse before it gets better only a quarter mile visibility in atlantic city right now. temperatures are on the mild side. philadelphia 73. allentown 73. the poconos 66. and down the shore we are in the 60s for the most part with an on shore flow. southerly wind in avalon at 65. cape may 65. and in the ocean water temperature up to 60 that's a big improvement that water has a lag time really warming up unfortunately toward the end of the summer season. tomorrow's forecast high on land. 88 degrees much the record is none set back in 1881. 100-year-old record plus and we're looking at temperatures that are going to be very very close. remnants of a inform a move out to sea heat and humidity still in our forecast for your tuesday. ahead of this cold front so all of that warmth will be squeezed up the eastern seaboard and we are going to be talking about real summer like weather.

the front moves through but we're going to be seeing not much in the way of precipitation. most of the convection up that was new york state into the north maybe isolated shower or storm. behind it the big change. much cooler weather and it's going to be windy. once again. little bit cooler with temperatures in the 60s. but gusts to 25 miles an hour wednesday. and it's going to feel dramatically cooler than tomorrow. then back in the 70s very quick quickly high pressure builds in thursday and even for friday. let's talk about the dry weather though. because it's been 20 days since we've had a tenth of an inch or more. in the near future it's looking bone dry. 10% chance of rain. that's not a slight chaps and then thursday zero the probability friday zero we are in for an additional dry stretch stretch. we haven't had much rain and about an inch below average for the month so far. mainly cloudy overnight the low 66. it will be muggy the high tomorrow 88 degrees. near record warmth and windy in the afternoon. as you a plan your day warm in the morning hot outside for

lunch after school 85. even evening activities temperatures around 80 degrees. if you have a softball or soccer game bring plenty of water. on the seven day forecast 88 tuesday. 69 wednesday like a 20-degree drop. and then thursday, friday we build back up through the 70s. by sunday we're back at 80 degrees which is still well above average for this time of year. don't forget the he will lay good or zyrtech or whatever you take your your allergies you're going to need it. >> the nfl doesn't care it's the middle of may. >> they don't care. this is a big day. nice and smooth until the nfl passed judgment on the patriots. tom brady suspended. seven figure record fine levied against the super bowl champions champions. we got more on deflate-gate coming up in sports.

i'm lynne abraham. when i became philadelphia's da, child victims had to face a judge ...a jury...the public... and testify eye to eye with their attackers. it wasn't right. so i got a constitutional amendment passed allowing children to testify remotely. i'm running for mayor for the same reason -- our children should come first. jim kenney and tony williams are fighting over public schools versus charters. i disagree. we have to improve education for all of our children.
