musicians he influenced. ♪ this is the "cbs morning news" for friday may 15 2015. good morning, i'm alison harmelin in for anne-marie green. breaking new this is morning, the nepal army says it spotted the wreckage of an american chopper. it disappears delivering supplies to an area hit. seth doane is in beijing. good morning. >> that's right. we army we spotted wreckage they say is believed to be from the missing helicopter. they found the wreckage high up in the mountains of nepal at 11,200 feet, about 15 miles north of the hard hit town of

charikot nepal. they have told us they are moving a team inbound to try to assess the situation. a team will include rescue men and combat rescue officers. they have not yet confirmed that wreckage is connected to this missing helicopter. the latest unfortunate reports from reuters citing a top defense official in nepal says there was complete destruction at that site. a top official telling reuters, he believes there were no survivors. they described the scene of a helicopter that was completely destroyed. that has not been confirmed independently by cbs news or the u.s. military. sad news developments coming out of nepal today. >> not the news we were hoping for.

seth doane. the investigation on the amtrak train is looking at why the train accelerates when it should have been slowing down. it went from 70 miles per hour to over 100 as it went into a sharp turn. eight people were killed and more than 200 were injured. amtrak takes full responsibility. they found no problem with the track. the philadelphia d.a.s office is investigating. don champion is in philadelphia for us. good morning don. >> reporter: good morning. we are told the interview could take place over the next few days. meanwhile, behind me the work on repairing power lines and track is under way. the investigation into tuesday's amtrak derailment focuses on brandon bostian. they want to know why the train accelerated from 70 to more than

100-mile-per-hour has it approached the curve. >> before entering the curve is when the engineer applied the braking to put it into emergency braking. >> reporter: his lawyer says he does not remember the crash and suffered a concussion. the engineer submitted a blood sample to test for drugs and alcohol. james spoke with bostian after the accident. >> he was very distraught very upset. he was very sorry. i don't think there's any foul play or anything like that. he was never one to do drugs. there's got to be something else. >> reporter: onday the body of bob was discovered at the crash site. he is the eight fatality at the site. >> relentless.
