♪ >> now at 11:00 o'clock, all eyes on the windshield of a derailed train. it may hold the key to what real really happened to amtrak 188. and tonight the fbi is joining the case. good evening, i'm chris may. i'm jessica dean. here is the latest at 11:00. ntsb investigators have now interviewed the engineer and crew members. the assistant conductor says the train may have been hit by an object. investigators are examining new surveillance video obtained

exclusively by "eyewitness news" that shows the moment that speeding train crashed. track repairs underway as amtrak works to restore service. and five crash survivors remain in critical condition at temple hospital. "eyewitness news" reporter david spunt is live at the crash scene in port richmond with more on the day's big developments. david? >> reporter: jessica a few hours ago investigators held what may be the first of many meetings with brandon bostian and i have to tell you they're looking for more information. he insists he wasn't tired. he said that he wasn't sick but he does say something hit the train before it crash. hundreds of yards of mangled mess and authorities are interested in this windshield. there may be evidence that support engineer brandon bostian's claim that something hit the train before the crash. >> we have seen damage to the left hand lower portion of the amtrak windshield that we have

asked the fb advertisement come in and look at for us. >> reporter: this exclusive video obtained by "eyewitness news" shows the actual crash from a surveillance camera. bostian's assistant conductor told investigators she heard bostian mention something about an object hitting the train. 3 miles away on the same tracks something did hit a septa train on the front windshield. the fbi is investigating both incidents and source close to the investigation told "eyewitness news" the ntsb wants to talk to the septa conductor to learn more. amtrak engineer brandon bostian is said to be in philadelphia ready to continue talks with investigators. his close friends spoke with him after the crash. >> not remember much and he couldn't remember much. he said he had some staples and stitches. >> james we're says bostian was adamant about safety and specifically mentioned it many times. >> i don't think this is his fault. i don't believe that it's his fault. brandon is not the kind of guy

even if he was going through a hard time he wouldn't do this. >> reporter: if bostian wasn't tired or wasn't sick could he have been under the influence of something? the ntsb said they are performing toxicology tests those will not be ready for a few days. it's a very intricate process to get those back much that's the latest from the ntsb investigating the fbi also investigating this key. we're live in port richmond david spunt cbs3 "eyewitness news". >> more information to come in the coming days, david thanks so much. one of the passengers killed in the derailment is laid to rest. justin zemser was a 20-year-old midshipman at the u.s. naval academy. his funeral took place in hewett, new york. his mother wiped away tears as she walk pass adeline of sailors. 150 midshipmen turned out for the funeral. >> now to the stories of first responder who's sprang within action. they risked their lives to save as many victims as possible. today "eyewitness news" spoke with some of the heroes of that tragedy. the hundreds of police officers

and firefighters who went car to car in the dark doing whatever they could. some even stepped over downed power lines to do their job. >> there were so many police officers in -- in the regular clothing no protective gear and they were -- they were diving in and they were at risk. >> it hits you you're walking by them and people screaming and yelling and asking for hem but you can't really help everybody. you just go to the first person you're closest to. >> several police officers and firefighters did suffer minor injuries on tuesday night. well here's the latest on toasts restore rail service along the northeast corridor. amtrak now says that service between new york and boston and washington and philadelphia is operating normally. but service between philadelphia and new york is now expected to remain suspended through monday while track row pairs are made. meantime septa says it's unclear when its trenton line will resume service. stay with "eyewitness news" for the very latest on the amtrak tragedy and this growing

investigation. you can get updates any time at cbsphilly.com. dzhokhar tsarnaev sentenced to death in the 2013 boston marathon bombings. the jury reached its decision after more than 14 hours of deliberations. tsarnaev was convicted last month of all 30 federal charges against him in the bomb that is killed three people and injured more than 260. defense lawyers argued tsarnaev fell under the influence of his older brother. while prosecutors said he was an equal partner in that attack. reaction to the jury's decision was quick. >> what he turned into obviously was we know what he turned into many he turned into a monster. why did that happen? we'll never know. >> i have to watch my two sons but a leg on every day. it feels like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders. i think shares some form of a good feeling. >> there's nothing happy about hedge having to take somebody's

live. i'm satisfied. i'm grateful. >> i remember when those bombs went off and i remember the vile disgusting thing that this person did. >> tsarnaev's lawyers plan to appeal the death sentence. investigators in philadelphia are looking for a couple tonight fearing that they may have committed an unspeakable crime. throwing a baby from a bridge. the story comes out of kingsessing. natasha brown has more now from police and the video at the center of it all. >> you can see possibly you drop anything it's going -- it ain't going move. >> reporter: neighbors revisit the rail bridge at 68th and kingsessing where a credible witness claims to have seen a young couple intentionally drop a baby over the bridge friday morning. >> i don't believe anybody would do anything that hideous. >> she see as female holding or she described cradling a baby in a white blanket and she says the

baby light brown complected and has fuzzy hair. >> the frenzied witness called 911 and all out search of the tracks began. police stopped and passed two trains that passed under the bridge just after 11am. after scowering tracks and tracks no baby was found but surveillance video did capture a couple thought to have been involved in the incident walking away. >> we're hoping that this isn't what she saw. but at this point we believe she saw what she saw and we think we have a child that is currently not accounted for at this point. >> reporter: police are continueing to investigate. meantime they are asking anyone who may recognize this man and woman seen in the video to please contact police right away away. in southwest philadelphia, natasha brown cbs3 "eyewitness news". >> a maple syrup like odor in a mercer county postal facility knocked out one worker today and led to hazmat scare. this happen at the usps carrier annex on route 130 in hamilton

township. employees there say she they smelled something strong and sweet and then started feeling sick. they were evacuated but crews later found nothing suspicious. officials don't believe there's any danger of opening mail from that facility. we're learning more tonight about a hepatitis a scare in camden county. server at this restaurant in voorhees has tested positive for the disease. chopper three over iron hill brewery and restaurant at the voorhees town center. health officials say the server was diagnosed may 11th 11th has not been to work since. he did not work while he was feeling ill. officials say the restaurant is cooperate wig the investigation. you saw it right here tonight on cbs3. acm presents super star duets. >> ♪ >> that's hriba mcintyre performing with brooks and done the show featured unprecedented lineup of country music legends performing alongside this year's ach award nominees and chart popping artists.

generations of musicians. he won 15 grammy awards and releaseed more than 50 albums. includeing a tune titled "philadelphia" back in 1974. bb king had been in failing health with diabetes. his attorney says that he died peacefully at his las vegas home on thursday night. the great bb king was 89 years old. ♪ >> what a career. >> what a career. what live. now to the emotional story avenue near death experience and what a family is calling divine intervention. >> health reporter stephanie stahl with one young man's incredible story of how he says he came back from the dead. >> reporter: zach clemens so high school football player and seemed like a healthy young man until... >> i was running and i had collapsed. >> reporter: he dropped to the ground during pe class last week week. >> i'm not sure why. >> reporter: it was sudden cardiac arrest according to doctors. his mom was immediately called and beat the ambulance to the hospital. >> when they opened the ambulance door, he was blue and

they were on top of him doing chest compressions. >> reporter: family was told, he was dead. >> they said that i was without a heartbeat for 20 minutes. >> reporter: just as hospital workers were ready to make itofficial they got a pulse. zach woke up days later. his recovery is described as incredible. and so is the story he tells of what he saw during the time he had no heartbeat. >> i saw a man that had a long ruffled hair with kind of thick beard and it didn't take me long to realize that was jesus. >> reporter: his family is convinced it was a near death miracle. >> i went up to him and he put his hand on my shoulder and told me everyth right. and not to worry. i was just calm and just at peace. >> reporter: his dad says accepting his son's experience as miracle is the only thing that makes sense to him. >> for him to wake up and tell us something that he experienced

forward to the weekend it's upon us. >> it's upon us. >> how is the weather going to shape up. noticeably different than this week has been. it's going to be more humid and warm when you step out the door tomorrow morning it will be hot by the afternoon with a few showers and thunderstorms sprinkled in there as well. take look outside to very pretty center city philadelphia. you can see from the camden side across the bridge towards the city we're looking at temperatures that will fall into the 50s overnight tonight you may feel a few sprinkles out there if you're out during the early morning hours. check out storm scan3 that was south jersey areas of the lehigh valley seeing showers moving our way. we have some warm more humid air moving in. and we'll have a few more showers over the next couple of days. 64 in philadelphia. it's humid in allentown with few showers, 65. 61 in the poconos, 61 in dover. and down the shore temperatures in the 60s. we have that on shore flow. the ocean water temperature at 57. if we're lucky by memorial day weekend the ocean water temperature will be around 60. still a little bit cold for most of us. we will watch as this cold front approaches from the northwest

tomorrow. setting off some scattered showers especially during the heating of the day in the afternoon. and to the north and west of the city it will be noughtablely humid the same goes for sunday. highs in the 80s. still humid. and some scattered showers. more widespread. by monday we watch more warm air moving our way but we have this on shore flow keeping it cloudy and keeping the threat of a shower in the forecast and then finally we get that fromoving through that will end the precipitation by tuesday. but let's go hour by hour here. future weather shows the overnight with a few scattered sprinkles. tomorrow morning they will will be few and far between with more clouds than sun but noticeably more humid. by the afternoon into the evening, some scattered showers some downpours i think we could have have few thunderstorms and then it all moves away when we lose the heating of the day. then sunday they fire up again not in the morning but during the afternoon with heat and humidity. so not everybody is going to be seeing a downpour but most of us could be seeing a shower. rainfall amounts vary when you look at the computer models but for the most part if you average it out it's about half an inch.

here is a look at the details much this is what we expect this weekend more clouds than sun. showers possible both case days around a half an inch. high temperatures at least 10 degrees above normal. so overnight tonight low temperature of 57 in the city noticeably warmer during the day tomorrow. the high temperature 84. as we go hour by hour even at 7am we'll be in the 60s. 9:00 a.m. in the 70s. by 3:00 o'clock in the afternoon 84. and at 9:00 o'clock at night if you're stepping out you won't need a sweater. down the shore we have some heat, highs in the 80s. but do expect that afternoon sea breeze to kick in and knock those temperatures down into the 70s on the exclusive "eyewitness weather" seven day forecast we're back in the 70s by monday and tuesday. dryingdrying out and clearing out wednesday, thursday and friday. more pleasant behind that cold front. counting down to summer. you see that beach ball on the seven day orr at the shore five days, 17 hours 38 minutes and 14 seconds. memorial day weekend will be upon us. >> ticking away. >> we're literally counting down the seconds.
