ard. live storm scan three shows heavier rain is south of the city and holiday weekend. it is in the feeling like, kick off to summer just yet. let's get to meteorologist kathy orr in the weather center tracking time of the rain and what we can expect tomorrow. kathy. we are looking at temperatures, that are pretty cool out there only in the the 50's and looking at storm scan three, still a lot of green but we are seeing rain end from the north, heading toward the south and east. storm scan three you can see heavier rain with those darker greens and yellows, they are becoming more few and far between as the afternoon wears on a long i-95 corridor that rain beginning to come to an end, and will be drying out. a a few scattered showers in the philadelphia area but much lighter then it has been. we have pick up a couple tens of an inch of rain. right now in wissohickon and

nicetown northeast philadelphia, seeing a few sprinkles, on the new jersey side, cherry hill, a few more showers. down the shore we will see rain linger longer. in philadelphia only 52. same in trenton. fifty-three in millville. fifty-five in the poconos. we are seeing milder temperatures down the the shore, that ocean water temperature only 59. so between now and 8:00 p.m. that rain ending in philadelphia and a wrong i-95 corridor. central, south jersey and central delaware by midnight and down new jersey shore and delaware beach between one and 3:00 a.m. tomorrow morning the rain will finally be gone. coming up we will talk about when the sun returns and when those temperatures drop again and looking forward to our first 90-degree day, in the seven day forecast, i'll be back with that later in the broadcast but for now send it back to you. >> kathy, thanks very much. as will holiday weekend gets underway follow forecast using cbs philly weather app to allow to you track live radar and much more, it is free, and it is available on

both itunes and google play. police are searching for suspects tonight in who robbed a gun store stealing nearly 20 firearms. robbery happened at suburban armory, that gun shop on macdade boulevard in collindale. "eyewitness news" reporter alexandria hoff is their life and she has got the latest, alexandria. >> reporter: good evening natasha, investigators have been here for most of the day but they are still looking for at least three to four individuals who are last seen heading to the darby area. next door to where 19 guns were stolen, community members are talking. >> i think places, and if we can do anything to get more secure. >> it saddens me that something happened in our community, more guns on the street possibly more lives would be lost. >> reporter: a valid concern because among items stolen from the suburban armory on macdade boulevard were glocks, revolvers and semiautomatic weapons. >> when the officer got here on the ground there was a

large pay ne of grass. >> reporter: break in happened around 4:00 a.m. surveillance videos shows two vehicles working together signaling to each other through headlights according to police. >> it appears he was flashing his headlights to that van there was a look out for him. >> reporter: glass cases inside were smashed and weapons were taken in less than two and a half minutes white oldsmobile cutlass and pontiac montana were seen moments after the break in. it is third time in eight years that this store has been victimized police say last time store owners were there and were ready. >> try to hold them up, but fortunate for him he had a cannon on his head and took a the shot then and we never got down. but he is armed. the workers are armed. they are allowed to be armed. they have licenses. >> reporter: the dna and fingerprints were collect from the scene. anyone with any information should contact police. reporting live from delaware county alexander hoff, cbs-3

"eyewitness news". federal railroad administration issued a new emergency order instructing amtrak to improve safety along curves on the northeast corridor in the wake of the deadly amtrak derailment. amtrak must submit plans to add automatic braking technology at curves where the speed limit approaching the curve is more than 20 miles per hour, faster then the speed limit on the curve. amtrak must install a additional speed limit signs for engineers. today in washington, senate democrats, urged congress to provide more funning for amtrak repair projects. also a railroad workers group is offering new details on how the engineer involved in last week's amtrak derailment spent the hours leading up to the deadly crash. the iteam's charlotte huffman is digging deeper and explains why a shift change in the engineer's schedule is currently under investigation. >> reporter: what caused last weeks deadly derailment is a question that remains unanswered. railroad workers united,

points to fatigue as a potential factor calling brandon bostian's shift that day grueling. bostian's train from new york to washington arrives 26 minutes late leaving him an hour to rest before his return trip back to new york on the train that eventually derail. for decade, engineers had 90 minute breaks between trips but recently amtrak cut those brake types to 60 minutes. group's co chair say quick turnaround is a safety issuees specially for engineers traveling the northeast corridor. >> we are high speed track you are talking about decision make going on at time. there is human need involve. you need to have sometime to take a break were you go back to a intense job. >> reporter: schedule change came six weeks before the crash and condemn by rail unions as a disaster in the making but critics say congress didn't listen. >> they are trying to squeeze everything they can to make this profitable for amtrak, so, you know, the unions have have been saying this is a

very bad idea look what happened a disaster in the making. >> reporter: record obtained by the iteam show a concerning trend in the work hours of amtrak employees. the federal regulations limit engineers to a 12 hour workday but an internal audit show employees often exceed ago this 12 hour limit. in 2013 employees reported more than a 116,000 instances of working 16 or more hours a day. about 83 percent of those reports came from transportation employees which includes, trained operators and engineers. in a statement to the iteam amtrak responded to the reduced brake times saying 60 minutes still meets federal regulations and change is part of the new schedule that increases overall quality have of life, for amtrak crew. >> wow. >> we don't know if fatigue played a role but you can see how it might in certain situations. >> we will find out in 12 months when ntsb releases their report. >> thank you so much. no serious injuries. domestic violence charges against the football player ray rice were dismiss today the the formal ravens running back has completed the terms of his pretrial intervention. a new jersey judge dismissed those charges against rice who played at rutgers. he had has not played in the nfl since being suspended for striking his wife janet the in an atlantic city elevator in 2014. ray rice was charge with third degree aggravate add assault the charges were dropped but they will remain on his record. it was an amazing final toy an iconic television career. >> david letterman said good bye last night following 33 years in what was a historic final show. but less than 24 hours after that broadcast dave's set is already being torn down. this was the scene outside the ed sullivan theater to day as crews began dismantling everything in preparation for steven colbert's debut in the fall. but again last night was a

well. >> very cool. >> we are looking at a better weekend. rain is out of here tonight and then all eyes on the holiday weekend get ready for some funnel cake, ice cream and what else do we like? really good pizza or anything down the shore right. been a long time. take a look outside where we have sprinkles in philadelphia, the ceiling is low, cloud deck is low and we are looking at improving conditions tonight. heading out for the evening bring your umbrella but you will not need it much longer at least in the city, you'll need it the tonight down the shore. on storm scan three you can see the green on the screen through southern new jersey and central and southern delaware but moving away. culprit is low pressure, coastal low to the south as that pulls off shore. we will be seeing this rain coming to an even. back edge right new through philadelphia, edge nothing to south jersey and also through new castle county, delaware. still some sprinkles a spread across the region where we are seeing drying conditions. lit built of mist is lingering. you can see heavier rain and

pressure to the south, we have clockwise flow, pulling in those southerly winds and gets warmer from there on out. during the morning hours tomorrow, in the 50's, and some 40's, so it will be cool. by the afternoon we're in the 70's. but watch what happens saturday morning. thirty-six in the poconos. thirty-six in allentown. we are at 45 in philadelphia, 43 at the airport in atlantic city. saturday afternoon we will warm it up close to 07 degrees. saturday is cool day and then gets real warm. overnight tonight low 49 in the city. seventy-five tomorrow afternoon but it will be breezy, and if you are heading down the shore, i know i am for orr at the shore mild, breezy 71. saturday cool at 67. sunday looks pleasant, monday, some sun the high temperature is 77. on the exclusive eyewitness weather seven day forecast, saturday near 70, a morning low of 47, and then look at what happens sunday, that is my favorite day of the weekend, by far sunday 80. monday 85. tuesday and wednesday 90,

all right. the beasley the phillies have been on a roll lately. >> they are hot and for all of the experts who said ryan howard is dead, the phillies are dead, they won seven of the last eight games batting .293 averaging 4.6 runs per game since may 13th. it is ryan howard and rotation getting it done. they tried to keep it going to day closing out a four game set in denver. darren ruf in the third with the rbi single to score chase utley and fightins took the lead. in the fifth look at ryan howard, who is supposed to be dead and should be in a retirement home someplace according to these guys. batting .444 last time and that is his ninth home run but rockies came back.
