going to parade maybe, grilling out, it will be just gorgeous katie outside on the skydeck with that gorgeous forecast, good morning. >> happy memorial day everybody, no matter what your plans include, going to parade, maybe just got picnic scheduled, whatever it may be outside, you are looking good here. let me start things offer with quick peak at storm scan3 remains empty at this point say forehand full of clouds, temperatures miler than they were this same time yesterday. by pretty decent margin actually, many of you are at least 10 degrees warmer this morning, and off to the north you can see few signs of life on the radar none that far wet weather expected to mess with our forecast here today. we are still expecting dry weather, although, we are eventually going to see this atmosphere moisten up, in other words, humidity returns now, if your pool or rather if your plans include maybe hitting the pool or actually hitting the ocean waves well, if you wanted bath water territory, you have to go pretty far south here at home, dealing with generally low 60s, which again still on the

cool side. obviously the very beginning of the season here for folks down the shore so, we got to give it little time in order to get that heat building up in the water obviously, takes much longer than it does dry lands, but here on dry land, do you have similar temperatures. sixty atlantic city, progress through the day we will easily get right back into the mid 80s here today. generally under sunshine, it will be warm, obviously but you're going to notice a breeze. i wouldn't call it refreshing breeze necessarily, but it is going to make it feel little cooler for you any time it does below here today casino of like it did here yesterday. now, that said, it is warm today. we keep the sunshine, but as i said, the temperatures not only are climbing, but also, the humidity with time here. and it really looks as though the entire week is just going to be a nice dose of summer, and some of these forecasts coming up here are reminiscent of the dog days of summer. so we will talk temperatures little bit more for the seven day coming up as the show

"eyewitness news" reporter jan carabeo in ocean sit right now, good morning. >> stuck owe, erika, good morning, during my last hit i said i was lonely, now seen total of three people. we had jogger just go by, and also couple of people who woke up early came out to the board walk, so they could see the sunrise and then they say they want to beat traffic and head home. it is a nice morning out here in ocean city for. that will avenue feeling folks, though, will be sleeping in today after full weekend of activities, but won't take long for that to change this memorial day. hundreds will still be down the shore today. and those here in ocean sit can i honor the servicemen and women who gave their lives pro teching this country and our freedom. at memorial day ceremony and parade, that starts at veterans memorial park at fifth and wesley avenue at 11:00 a.m. it has been fun filled weekend here in ocean city.

beaches have been packed with families, the board walk bustling for the un official start every summer and there are many similar sites in wildwood, as well, there the rides were getting work out as others strolled the board walk and the sands. and finally, in asbury park last night fireworks capped off a fun filled weekend. and if you take us back live here in ocean sit, you can see, another jogger just go by, so i think ocean city, is waking up right now. we have those early morning walkers, joggers out people that want to see the sunrise as i mentioned. and couple of people we were able to speak to just couple every minutes hooking were here to do just that. take a listen.

american legion, it honors every metal of honor recipient, the country's highest award for valor. and for look atmore memorial day events happening in your neighborhood, and around the region, you can also head to cbsphilly.com. new this morning philadelphia police are investigating a deadly overnight shooting in west philadelphia. it happened shortly after 1:30 this morning, near the intersection of 41st and aspen streets. police responded to a call for a man shot in the shoulder. paramedics returned him to presbyterian hospital where he later died. police say they believe the victim may have known his killer. well, this morning we are remembering a truely beautiful mind. a cab crash on the new jersey turnpike claims the life of nobel prize winning mat ma tis john nash and his wife al leash a the crash happened in the southbound lanes near exit 8a in monroe township. justin finch in the satelite center more details. justin? >> reporter: good morning the nash's had just flown back from overseas where john nash

was honored and at the airport they hailed yellow cab to head home. but never made it. the story of john nash still captivated hollywood turned it into oscar winning film, 2001, beautiful minds recounts brands breaking achievement in math and science achievements made at he fought paranoid schizophrenia, his wife, alicia, by his side for many of the battles. >> the only way out -- >> both killed saturday, when their yellow cab crashed into a southbound new jersey turnpike guardrail, the couple had just left the airport in newark, after flying back to the states from norway, where nash received the prestigious bell prize. the nash's made their home in princeton junction where neighbors and colleagues mourns their sudden lost. >> most spectacular thing about him was his fantastic originality and his contribution to science. >> former princeton professor joseph cone first med him -- met him at mit.

>> very sad. it will affect prince on junction. >> neighbor john kelly said he drove by the crash not knowing the nash's were involved. >> it was brutal. you know huge emptiness. that's very sad. >> they were ejected from the taxi and pronounced dead on the scene. state police say they may not have been wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash. that taxi driver was taken to the hospital. he should recover and no word yet on any charges in this crash. erika, ukee? >> justin, thank you. and the stars and production team behind the fill a.m. beautiful minds are mourning the loss of john nash. actor russell crow who portrayed nash said. >> this. stunned, my heart goes out to john nash and family, beautiful minds beautiful hearts. and director ron howard also shared his grief in a tweet: rip brilliant nobel prize winning john nash and his remarkable wife alicia. it was an honor telling part of their story. now the accident that

memorial day events have witness cancelled in the city of san marco texas today. city suffered extensive damage over the weekends with heavy rainfall caused the blanko river to top its banks. >> oh, my god. oh, my god. >> the raging river destroyed roads, wiped away hundreds of homes, and sparked dramatic rescues. nearby whimperly also hard hit. officials there are searching for several people, unaccounted for after the storm. thousand it is of others, who were forced to evacuate, are being urged to stay away from their home. severe weather also affected other parts of texas including, houston where tornado ripped a roof off this apartment complex. in austin, kayaker had to be rescued, when his adventure turned into fight for his live. the rain has also soaked portions of oklahoma, washing out roads and overflowing into homes. a firefighter in claire moore was among those killed when he tried to rescue people from high water. >> got caught in the storm drain itself. >> this may is already the the

new jersey's pension system is a mess but don't blame teachers and other school employees. over 20 years, teachers have paid more than 10 billion dollars into their pensions, but new jersey politicians have paid just three underfunding teacher pensions by billions. unless the state makes its pension payments the entire fund could disappear in twelve years- threatening over 200 thousand teachers with poverty in retirement. school employees have done their part. now, politicians need to do theirs. it's only fair.

weeks ago after they were seen leaving the valley view casino just outside of san diego. they were supposed to be going to their son's home in palm springs for a mothers day dinner but never med t told investigators she and her husband got lost. >> she said that they had left the casino and they were looking for a short cut to get to their destination. they became lost. the vehicle became trapped on this remote road. >> atv riders found the couple in the remote area of the indian reservation, new son's body found outside the couple's car which had gotten stuck. flown to the hospital in serious condition. >> we believe that they did have some food stuff with them, some oranges, i believe a pie or something that they had recently purchased, so they had that, as well as rain watt their they had caught from the passing storm. >> investigators do not suspect foul play in the case. don champion, cbs-3 "eyewitness news". so far new orleans police have few leads in the fatal shooting after housing

not even just memorial day the entire week, is looking and feeling like summer. i know many of have you been craving. that will we've had nice little dose that far honestly here, just within the last couple of weeks but really going to have a long stretch of heat for the next couple of days here. outside beach patrol headquarters in margate, all is calm and quiet. but the lifeguard stands like they're at least open for business, as right on cue, one loan man takes his morning walk right across the screen. see if he get into the shot here. we're waiting on him. >> but he's out there. there he is. storm scan3 also, empty. going to see handful of clouds out there today but you're regardless going to stay dry with more sun than anything. notice, not so much the numbers here, the direction of these arrows southerly push of our area, means temperatures are going to go on nice uphill climb. and with, that the humidity also climbs. so, here's what it will feel like, in the next couple of days 90's, easily, tomorrow, wednesday, and thursday, as

host, david letterman hit the indianapolis 500. letterman and indianapolis native co-owner of the ray hall letterman langan racing team. they first met in 1986 when dave interviewed him for the show. they later formed their own indy car team. at yesterday's race, letterman signed autographs for fans and spoke about his big send-off after 33 years on television. >> i just assumed that we would do the last show and go away. and it was very nice. it was very gratifying. and my family, you know, they were never quite sure what did i for a leaving. -- living. so it got everybody's attention. >> oh, unfortunately dave's indy team did not win as you heard from ukee, they did finish in fifth place though. i'm sure a lot of fans so excited to see david letterman,. >> still going out making them laugh. >> coming up: we have more memorial day celebrations happening around our region. jan?
