veterans of doylestown took part in today's parade. they marched 2 miles from cb west high school on port street. >> "eyewitness news" at another ceremony, this one in media. a wreath and american flags decorated the courthouse downtown there. that's also where the borough's memorial day parade wrapped up. several military veterans link their after taking part in the days events. >> and veterans, marching bands, and mummers, all took part in the parade in bridesburg. families lined up bright and early to make sure they got the best seats on richmond street. this event is build as philadelphia's oldest memorial day parade. it was founded by world war ii veteran edward duebeck in 1947. >> plenty every people took advantage of the gorgeous weather done the shower today. cleve bryan is live in ocean sit i -- ocean city, where local businesses cashed in. >> that's right, 6:00 in the evening, boards walk still

"eyewitness news" reporter alexandria live in rittenhouse square with more details. alexandria? >> reporter: good evening, jessica. since about 11:00 a.m. yesterday, almost this entire block has been without power. that's expected hundreds of people who live here. did i speak with peco spokesperson, told me, they are right now installing a temporary line, that is above grounds. but the lights are still not expected to go back on until at least 11:00 p.m. tonight. >> we're vision the interesting atlanta we came in just about the time that the power went off. >> these out of towners

arrived to ten rittenhouse to find that they were among hundreds of residents without power, an issue for young kira. >> that's why we can't stay, because of the elevator were to go out then she would have took down 15 flights. >> one elevator did remain in service, but since the building's water is pumped electrically, that was out of service, too. >> water elevators anything electric even the water is pumped electrically. >> but it wasn't just residents. almost every business on the block, aside from barnes and noble, was forced to close. the lights have been out since busy sunday brunch. >> we are busy, and power went out. so people have to leave. >> according to peco spokesperson underground damage to a line held up repairs. for pro-active residents like ruth, that meant packing up the perishables spending the holiday with friends. >> has it been inch convenient for you? >> of course. there is no water. there is no air-conditioning. and now i have to take my whole freeze tow my friends'.

28th and allegheny around noon. police say that victim was shot twice once in the head, and once in the arm. he's now in stable condition at temple hospital. police do have one person in custody, but do not believe he is the shooter. rutgers football player is jailed in florida on felony robbery charge. darian daily is a 19 year old defensive back. sarasota police say he and another suspect confronted biker with a gun on sunday morning, and demanded money. the victim reportedly gave police a license plate number. daily now charged with robbery with firearm. being held on $150,000 bail. memorial day has an extra special meaning for 49 new american citizens. they pledge their allegiance against the backdrop of one of the most decorated warships in history. the battleship new jersey. and we'll take to you that ceremony next. plus the beach isn't the only place to find lots of sands this memorial day weekends a giant sand castle

dna identification laboratory, at dover air force base, will examine hundreds of bone fragments, recovered from the site of that attack. close to 2500 americans died when the japanese bombed pearl harbor on december 7th, 1941. turns out you don't have to go to the beach to see a sand castle. check out these sculptures, inside the hamilton mall in mays landing. this sculpture was designed by retired atlantic city firefighter, john glad i and his daughter. they spent the entire holiday weekend working on the 9-foot ton creation. award winning sand art hoist now lives in thely. the theme that far design right there you see it, a tribute to summer. >> another way to beat the heat take a dip in the pool. morton, delaware county, the aquatic swim club, popular place for cooling off, a long season ahead for a lot of these swimmers. >> kate perfect day to be in the pool, or down the shore

margate. still few kids enjoying the evening. i love the evenings on the beach when you walk the surf and pick up the sands the shells, and the sand castles of course there for the viewing, as you walk with the kids. storm scan3 a-okay. clear skies across the region see warmfront off to the north, this area every rain here, and some pretty nasty storms in portions of the deep south today. but as far as we're concerned we're under ridge of high pressure, that will be overhead for the next couple of days, so whoop tap into the southwest winds, what will really heat things up. some moisture from the gulf of mexico, and we will be feeling that, quite a bit here, the next couple every days it will start to feel lilo press i have. 84 degrees in philadelphia, 84 trenton, 79 atlantic city, 83 reading. you can really, see where that front is, the warmfront to the north, that's the green shading where the cooler temperatures r but really the entire eastern half of the country is warm, on this memorial day, eight a st. louis, little cooler in nashville, birmingham, have the showers moving through that area, but it has been warm it, has been dry all weekend long.

weekends, maybe take in little baseball? >> phillies were on roll for little while. and, they're trying to get back on track. three-game sets this afternoon in new york. unfortunately, the mets play very well at city field going into the contest yes tough test for the fighting's. phillies down a run in the thirds. chase utley, delivers a two-run single, to right field. revere and gal vast will score thon one, chase went two for three in the game. so marino gonzalez got the start for the phils. mets use the the long ball. shot to right field, ties the game in the thirds. then, in the fourth, michael with the solo blast going to give the mets the lead. gonzalez went giving up three runs. tied up in the sixth. on the mound for the phils flores hits a three run homer so the met beat the phillies for the 19th time in the last two years six-three the final. phillies have dropped five out of seven after a six game winning streak. the cubs hosed the
