rocks a high school down the shore. 20 young people are facing criminal charges for sharing private pictures of students. good evening i'm chris may. >> i'm jessica dean. police seized dozens of cell phones in their investigation. the scandal happened at a high school in lower township, cape may county, and "eyewitness news" reporter diana rocco has more now on the investigation. >> reporter: 19 students and one adult now charged after a sexting scandal rocks lower cape may regional high school. police say the students were sharing naked photos of other female students. >> i'd be devastated. >> it breaks my heart. >> reporter: parent and student involved who didn't want to be on camera and now have an attorney tell "eyewitness news" this started last month when soft more and junior girls sent inappropriate photos of themselves to boy students. the boys then began sharing the photos with friends on social media. police say they were notified when another student told a teacher. 27 cell phones were confiscated and police began a criminal

investigation after finding quote numerous nude and partially nude photos of female students. the student involved who we spoke to is a freshman and didn't want to be on camera. he says he was suspended for one day but has since returned to class. the 19 juveniles and one adult have now been charged with third degree invasion of privacy. >> it's just wrong. like, i really hope they get all sorted out as quickly as possible. >> reporter: students say phones are still being confiscated and most of the school either knows who is involved or has seen the photos. >> you shouldn't -- this shouldn't be happening. >> it's sad for them and their families. >> for the boys involved. >> for the boys involved as well it really is. it's a shame. i would like them to get counseling. i think our school should make the parents more aware of how to check the kids phones. >> reporter: cape may county prosecutor call the prevalence of sexting among high school and middle school children concerning. their offering free seminars on

the cyber bullying and second ting. in lower township, cape may county i'm diana rocco cbs3 "eyewitness news". this isn't the first sex tipping scandal in our area. back in march it came to light mail students at north penn high school traded photos of female students using drop box that's a file sharing sap. no charges have been filed in that case. and last year, authorities investigated sexting at neshaminy high school. eight students there were issued citations. a penn state fraternity is kicked off campus for three years after posting inappropriate photos on facebook facebook. university investigation found that members of capita delta road did up load photos of nude and semi nude women to private facebook page. the school also uncovered instances of sexual harassment and hazing. at fraternity has immediately been dropped as a campus organization until may of 2018. penn state officials say such behavior will not be tolerated. police are looking to night for a man who pointed a cell

continue right through the overnight tomorrow a repeat performance of today with a few additional storms. take look at the chem rears note now we're still looking at the 70s through most of the region. 75 in philadelphia. 78 in allentown. it is 70 in the poconos. at the atlantic city airport 69 degrees. but still mild for this time of day and this time of year. temperatures are going to continue to tumble overnight tonight into the 60s. here's a look what you'll wake up to. 69 in philadelphia. 68 in allentown. 65 in the poconos. still well above average for this time of year. we do have hazy, hot and humid weather to look forward to again tomorrow more like summer but that line of showers and thunderstorms will be marching our way. that is a cold front and it is going to provide us the threat of severe weather especially as you head north through the lehigh valley and the poconos in our northwestern suburbs. strong winds heavy downpours even the possibility of hail. so coming up, we'll talk about how long we'll be staying sticky

sticky. we'll time out the storms and also talk about drought concerns throughout the region. believe it or not, we are well below rainfall for the particular month of may. and the year for that matter. i'll have more on that with your seven day forecast when i join you inside. >> all right, kathy thank you. there is no end in site for water logged parts of texas and oklahoma where even more rain is on the way. at least 17 people have died as a result of the flooding sips friday. more than a dozen are still unaccounted for tonight houston houston's normally traffic clogged highways are clogged with water. about 11-inches of rain fell overnight in houston in just eight hours. that rain even unearthed a casket. in the tourist town of wimberley the riff record ever it's banks. lauer ran her two young children are among the missing swept away in their vacation home. >> she called me. she said i'm in a house. i'm floating down the river.

tell mom and dad i love you and pray. >> so far an estimated 700 homes in the houston area have been damaged by flooding. new at 11:00 o'clock tonight, we're taking a closer look at children's bounce houses after this frightening ordeal on a florida beach. three children were hurt here. they were thrown out of that bounce house after it was lived high into the air reported by a waterspout. it's not the first an accident like this has happened with at least two others in just the last year. tonight "eyewitness news" todd quinones with what you can do to make sure your kids are safe. report. >> totally deflated. this thing how much does this weigh right now. >> probably about 250 pounds. >> reporter: 250 pounds. >> yeah. >> reporter: there's no way i feel like this is going to fly away. >> it's pretty heavy when there's no air in it for sure. >> reporter: that obviously changes once you start pumping air night right. >> once we turn the compressor it blows up. that's when it starts flying

around. >> reporter: let's do it. >> they're quick to set up fun and popular. especially during the summer months but as we've seen recently, these bounce houses can also be dangerous at times. dustin woods sets up these attractions for betty's bounce in woodland. >> people aware just about how quickly these things can take off? >> no. generally people just think the bounces are heavy and set in their place. what happened in florida is a bit of anomaly weather wise. even if the winds were like 25, 30 miles an hour that's strong enough to lift one of these? >> absolutely. 15 miles an hour this thing will be flyer hire than this tree right here. >> the weight of an inflateed bounce house gets dispersed making it easier to live. make sure you weigh down the corners. wood uses eight, 50-pound zapped bags but if that's not an option option -- hammering 32-inch stakes at 45-degree angles can do the trick in tethering a bounce house to the ground. >> if i were to straight down i

changes are being made. but it's too late for those people who lost their lives and who also were so horribly injured in this derailment. >> attorney tom klein does represent victims. amtrak 188 crash. eight people were killed that night. nearly hundred were injured. a northeast philadelphia man is sentenced after pleading guilty in the murder of his wife. a judge sentenced christopher murray to between 20 to 40 years in prison for strangling his wife connie while she was walk walking in penny park last august. murray cried in court today and apologized to his family. he originally reported reported his wife missing but then admit mitted to the crime four days later. philadelphia police are investigating whether the same suspect is responsible for two different assaults on women. latest attack happened monday in point breeze a woman woke up to a suspect standing over her bed at her home on rosewood street. he demanded money and sexual sexually

assaulted her. police believe the same suspect may be responsible for an assault nearby on chadwick street in march. >> the individual may be from win that neighbor. >> this is a composite sketch of that suspect. and both cases police say the suspect wore red or orange gloves. police are also looking for a pair of teenagers in a string of robberies that happened near tim pell university. six different times the suspects approached victims with a handgun and demanded cell phones and other valuables. the two suspects are both described as black teenagers with medium build builds. if you have any information on who they are you're asked to call philadelphia police. inside the mind of a gunman cued in the movie theater massacre. >> tonight we're getting a look at the frightening entries made in a notebook by james holmes before that rampage. what he says he was dedicating his life to. that's coming up. also ahead tonight there's new hope for victims of super

jurors now more about what was going through the mind of the gunman in the colorado movie theater massacre. the jury shown the notebook james holmes mailed to a psychiatric shortly before attack. 12 people were killed in that attack. 70 injured. some of the notebook's excerpts were chilling. holmes wrote quote the obsession to kill since i was a kid with age became more and more realistic. he also said he had to quote decided to dedicate live to killing others so that i can live. holmes has pleaded not guilty by

reason of inn san nat. >> two children of the blues legend bb king now claim their father was poisoned. the lavas gay homicide division is looking whether foul play may have been involved in king's death. his daughters karen williams and patti king say that their father's business manager and his personal assistant were the only people around him in the week before his death. and the daughters 11 those two were administering medication. be bb king died nearly two weeks ago in las vegas. >> after super storm sandy some victims of the storm are looking to congress to help. homeowners who took out disaster relief loans from the small business administration right after the storm now find themselves ineligible for government assistance. new jersey congressman tom mcarthur is sponsoring a bill to help those homeowners so you'll have access to government grants.

75. 74 in trenton. 69 in millville. ac airport 69. you can see little bit cooler down the shore. avalon we have that sea breeze at 64 degrees. the same in ocean city. cape may at 72 but look at that ocean water temperature. 57 degrees. the water is going to stay cold right through the end of the week. now, right now we're looking at dry conditions a few clouds. but this is a cold front and it's going to get little closer each day. as it does it will push up warm humid air up the coastal plane and we will be feeling it during the day tomorrow. now, during the heat of the day we'll see some showers and a few thunderstorms pop up. especially north and west of the city. the risk of severe weather the best chance of severe weather will be in the lehigh val and the poconos by about five, 6:00 o'clock in the afternoon we'll see the storms firing up. they'll move through the suburbs through philadelphia and then by the late night hours they will will be gone. once again on thursday, during the afternoon a few showers imbedded thunderstorms popping up. the front is finally through and

then we dry it out by friday. now, as far as what to expect tomorrow some scattered showers and storms mainly in the afternoon and evening. some with locally heavy downpours. the possibility of hail and even some gusty winds. so please be aware of that. otherwise we're looking at really dry conditions for the month of may. and you can see normally dry in yellow in southeastern pennsylvania central and northern new jersey and where you see the tan color through reading, berks county lehigh valley and the poconos that's moderate drought conditions. that means we could be seeing some voluntary water restrictions soon if this dry weather continues and we're at least 2.5-inches below normal in rainfall just for the month of may alone. overnight low temperatures will be in the upper 60s with warm humid conditions. during the day tomorrow, hazy, hot and humid the high 88 degrees. the normal high is 78. so 10 degrees above normal. hour by hour starting off at 8:00 o'clock. it's 74. by noon, 87. pretty sticky at lunch time. 5:00 p.m. 86.
