. from the cbs broadcast center in philadelphia. this is cbs-3 "eyewitness news". more rain moves through the area overnight after many areas saw flooding from the heavy rain yesterday. we are still tracking rain through the morning but hopefully some drier weather is on the way. good morning everyone, i'm ukee washington. >> i'm erika von tiehl. right to ever kate which your forecast, track that rain for us. will it stick around much longer what do youy? >> heaviest stuff, no, but very long day of soaking rain, we really just made up for any casino of drought status we may have actually had. the month of may we told you about this yesterday only pick up just under 1.2 inches of rain for the entire month. yesterday we had almost 2-inch. this is specific to philadelphia. there were places where you ended up with even more than

that, did just show you storm scan3, we'll take you right back out there where we continue in fact to find some additional rain rolling through. but we're looking right now at three hour loop moving through. you can see how things are starting to fizzle away little bit here. so while aren't necessarily going to totally dry out today, we are still going to have some lingering rain, showers out there. the brunt of this is starting to fade. the bulk of the moisture is starting to get out of here. and at this point you pretty much are dealing with just the aftermath issues, residual showers through the southern tear of the area. really through the overnight the brunt moved very evidently in through our southern most counties. flood advisories posted until 5:30 specific to portions of cape may atlantic, central southern delaware, last us until 5:30 this morning but flashflood watches are still in effect for most of the region until 6:00 this morning, then they're actually going to be allowed to expire, then again there will still be clouds certainly some showers around, but we're not going to be dodging the kind

of heavy drenching flashflood rain that came in yesterday. here is a look at your region as a local. it is cooler the not only what i still suggest the umbrella, even though again it is not as heavy as rainfall as yesterday, i also suggest extra layer. actually on the cool side. certainly by comparison, mid upper 60s at best for you here, even up in the poconos probably don't even break out off the's today. noticeably cooler out there today. justin? >> good morning, that's right many step out notice the drop in the humidity, little more of comfortable ride into work or school this morning still tracking wet weather specially cecil county, maryland, around dover, delaware, not as heavy as yesterday. seventy-six around girard, both directions looking okay. leaving the city few more cars coming in, but at least moving pretty good. see the wet roads 95, cottman, still battling some rain. you need the wiper blades at times with the lighter showers rolling through, but hopefully we won't find any additional flooding but still few flood problems to deal with, chesilhurst, new jersey, white

horse pike, westbound right lane block due to flooding from the treacherous storms. further south in franklin, route 40, harding highway westbound near tuck hoe road left lane also block due to flood zone, and up in berlin, white horse pike, off ramp remains closed due sing home. alternate crosskeys road. area speeds looking good. so far so good this morning that's a look at your ride, erika, back to you. >> thanks so much. severe storms bring heavy rain for hours overwhelming many storm drains. for debate tonight at the national constitution center. two attorneys for and two attorneys again same sex marriage, will discuss whether it would violate the equal protection clause. it is part of series presented by intelligence squared us, which sponsors debate. supreme court expected to make decision this month. meanwhile, the u.s. supreme court has overturned the conviction of a northampton county man who was convicted of making threats on facebook. anthony ilonas of freemansburg posted have i lengthly messages about his wife, said they were therapeutic rants not threats. prosecutors argue the comments would strike fear in reasonable person. but the court says that alone did not meet the standard for criminal conduct. >> and campaign 2016 news, hillary clinton has now set a date for the first major speech of her presidential campaign. on june 13th clinton is scheduled to speak at a park on new york's roosevelt

>> new this morning, families of passengers on board a chinese cruise ship have anxiously awaiting news after the ship capsized. more than 450 people were bonn order the ship when it went over during a storm. at least five people are confirmed. so far 18 people have survived the accident, as crews continue to search for the missing. most of the passengers on board that ship were elderly. >> and, an american woman dice in south africa after she was mauled by a lion. >> it happened at a popular wildlife park in johannesburg. the woman was ride willing in the passenger seat after car and was trying to take a picture of the lion, when the big cat jumped in the window and bit her.

>> stopped immediately rush over, to chase the lion away. the gentleman that was driving, he sustained some injuries to his arms trying to get the lion out as well. >> park officials say the woman had the window all the way down, which violate park policy. they do not plan to put the lion down, but may move it to another property where the animals do not interact with the public. >> right now 4:43, man, i heard those storms all through the night katie. >> lot going on. still definitely some rain out there at this point. some of it coming down pretty steadily too. flashflood watches posted at least for another hour and change, and you have also got couple of flood advisories for 45 more minute, as well, but cup ill of records got broken yesterday. >> i bet. >> i feel that's obvious. it rained so hard, ended up with easily in one single day in philadelphia than the entire month of may. such a soggy day. we'll explain why this is happening and also walk you back in time here show you rain and the that came n these

are impressive. look at millville 3.83 inches fell over 3 inches in dover trenton pick up interestingly shy after he inch, but this is still as of yesterday. we are still expecting some additional rain today. so, from this one and only system it spans couple of days may end one a little more in trenton and cape may by the time all is said and done. storm scan features moisture, brunt every which at least off to the northeast at this point, in terms every widespread coverage, but yes we really got clobbered here yesterday. as we look at a bit of a wider zoom here, what you are going to notice, remember how we had so much flooding out in texas then just the deep south recent days? now the axis of this trough that's dugout little more removed to the east. and that's why all of the moisture is getting funneled into our area, as opposed to out west, where it had been for so many days. so that's why we're essentially looking at several days worth of wet weather. yesterday, was definately the sog yes, sir but still in for some additional wet weather

here as the days progress. looking forward in future weather, so the heavy bulky batch of rain starting to wind down. but you are still going to find some showers out there. call it occasional rain or showers, because some of these pockets could come through somewhat steadily at times. and then even have some to deal with later tonight. so, you know, one of those situations where i would keep your umbrella at the ready. 65 degrees at best for the high. probably means you also want to keep extra layer at the ready, because it is going to feel noticeably cooler to you. 58 degrees the expected low. with this front sort of stalling out nearby, it looks like we've got at least keep in clouds, chance for showers wednesday, thursday, as well as friday, saturday, though, we start to heat up again. ukee back to you. >> and katie phillies host the cincinnati reds tonight in south philly, weather permitting. reds have won three straight phils have lost seven in a row. the phils were winners last night, though, without playing a game. the phillies annual fanfest val raised over $786,000 for als research. the phanatic was there in all.

>> just past 4:53, let's get a look at the wet roads. >> better news this morning the rain that we're seeing much lighter. so looking better travel conditions also, humidity levels really dropping. so comfortable, as well. vine street expressway, 24th street, looking westbound here with the headlight all is good, again those roads just little wet right now. looking okay in the 42 freeway, northbound, are the headlight, volume, slightly increasing but both directions are looking good this hour. we do have an accident, though, out in marlton route 07 westbound between 73 and cropwell road. vehicle did strike a pole. so be aware of that situation early this morning. then, still some flooded areas down into new jersey, chesilhurst, white horse pike westbound, before hendrix road. right lane blocked. then farther south also, in franklin route 40, westbound near tuckahoe road. we have flooded area conditions those spots about five, 6 inches of rain yesterday. where the rain is not let's

sends it over to katie in the forecast. >> some rainout, there but thankfully a lot lighter by comparison. you're not looking at the same situation that you saw yesterday here, giles. just not going to be that casino of i have, drenching widespread rain. but, we will still have some showers, and occasional rain to dodge. at the moment, storm scan, i mean, you can see what's happening. we look at the three hour loop here. things have really started to sort of taper away here. but, unfortunately, not tapering away completely. we will, again still have some showers to dodge throughout the course of the day. with this very slow moving frontal boundary, just sagging south. in the the winds direction not so much the wind speed but the direction. as it turns more on shore out of the northeast or the east, that's going to mean that you end up with cooler conditions out there. so through this morning watch for additional showers on the roadways, sprays from vehicles, flooded roadways definitely still concern. we do still have flood advisories through southern delaware, new jersey, flashflood watches at least for another half hour to hour for many of you. ukee,. >> kate, thank you. quick look at some of the

>> first though, threats' check in with katie for updated forecast. >> i come bearing better weather knees today. in terms of the fact, giles it, won't be anywhere near the excessive rainfall we had yesterday. soap while we do still have a number of watches and advisories to tell you about. they start to expire, pretty soon, and we will not be dealing with anywhere again near the widespread coverage for one thing nor the rainfall intensity that we had yesterday. let's go back out to little bit more of localized zoom on storm scan3. looking at three hour loop. you can see what's happened. we went from such a heavy rain, through the baltimore area out to southeastern new jersey to now at this point things that are fizzling away, to the point that you don't even have anything actually falling from the sky in most of atlantic county, for example, gloucester, camden county, so it is get being better with time. the storm in it entirety really frontal boundary, actually still needs to sag south. so, we are unfortunately still stuck with additional showers additional, you know, pocket of rain throughout the course of the day here. but they'll come through much more scattered in nature, as far as
