breaking news from south jersey overnight. hit-and-run investigation is underway, and after teenager is struck and dragged by a car in salem county. we'll have the latest on the condition of the teen, and the search for that driver coming up. >> and american thorough -- pharaoh makes horse racing history, first to win triple crown in more than three decades. straight ahead we'll hear from local fans who watched that big win. and the best cyclist from around the worlds, gearing up for the philadelphia cycling classic, and we're live, as they get set to take on the grueling manayunk wall. >> but today is sunday, june 7th, good morning everyone i'm todd quinones. nicole brewer is off this morning. we begin this morning with a look at weather. that will bridges us of course to meteorologist carol erickson, who joins us in the eyewitness weather center.

>> i know you love golf. >> i love golf. >> this is your afternoon. >> great. >> but you can't go. >> no. >> your wife called. we are looking at some just terrific looking weather today. it is the best day i think coming up over the next seven weather wise, so i hope you have got some plans that you can get outside and enjoy it. we're looking at the ben franklin bridge, blue skies just really, really pretty look, as you head to the shore it looks little crazy here, just with the sun the way it is. but the sun is out there. and unlike yesterday when you pick up so much rain, through cape may county, you have got nice day coming up today. 54 degrees is the temperature out in reading at this point. and it looks lovely, there as well. storm scan3 reporting for duty but it has nothing to report. so it is just quiet we love that. we need that. we have 59 degrees, right now out at the airport in philadelphia. fifty-two in trenton 58 degrees in wilmington, it is 45 in the poconos so little bit cool they are morning, than it was yesterday morning. but, what a gorgeous day. we've got temperatures get to

go about 78 degrees, this afternoon, we should be dealing with basically full sunshine all day. now, there might be breeze out of the south as we hit the mid afternoon time period, ten to 15 miles an hour, but that's it. even so, just a perfect day and let's have our future weather confirm that. and it says, yes looks beautiful here at 11:00. beautiful here at six p.m. we could run this time line out, but i will be finding a point on it where you find some showers and that's coming up tomorrow. i'll show that you just ahead todd? >> okay, carol. breaking news this morning the search on for hit-and-run driver in pennsville, new jersey, a teenager is struck by car while riding his skateboard. the accident happened just before 2:00 in the 100 block of norfolk road at lee avenue. >> we found a part here on the side of the road. i ran it on the internet t came back to a hyundai al lan that. so we're kind of looking for

hyundai a.m. lan that with front ends damage. >> investigators tell us the victim is a 17 year old student from pennsville memorial high school. he is in critical condition. once again police right now are looking for hyundai alantra with front end damage. no details right now on the year and color of the vehicle at this time. >> in other neutral, this morning, the 37 year wait is over. american pharaoh wins the triple crown after placing first at belling month steaks. "eyewitness news" reporter steve patterson watched the historic win with fans, at parx casino racetrack in bensalem. >> it is one of the rarest points finally, a triple crown. >> finally. we're happy. >> saturday at the parx casino, would you think tim tebow himself just came off the bench to win the

wide all the way. >> a lot of folks cashing in american pharaoh, a heavy three to five favorite. now the 12th winner of the triple crown. reporting from the parx casino, steve patterson cbs-3, "eyewitness news". quite a day. hundreds of bicyclist getting ready for the international classic, will compete in 12-mile course it, runs through the rolling hills of manayunk, east falls fairmount park, kelly drive cherry craig from our sister station "kyw news radio 1060" is live in manayunk at the start of the race. good morning,. >> good morning, todd, i'm here at the corner of lie cup and manayunk in a fewer hours professional leg of the race will begin. but in about 45 minutes of course the amateurs will begin to test the route. as you can see organizers are making a final preparations, they just finished towing the last few cars near the course. they put up barriers, sign and, here near the top of the

iconic manayunk wall, when the race begins, hundreds of the world's best cyclists will work their way down kelly drive, along the schuylkill river near to strawberry mansion, lemon hill, before returning here to manayunk to close the circuit. i must point out that today's event is historic, it is historic event the first time ever that the women's race will be the featured race of the day. it is the first women's world cup event in philadelphia since 2001, it is drawing elite female cyclists from around the world. another fact to point out is that women and men's race winners are vying for equal prize money $30,000 and many races across the world women only get fraction of the prize money that men are competing for. now, the men's race kicks off at 8:00 a.m. they'll go nine laps. women's race starts at 12:3 for six lance of course the race just part of it, there will be thousands of spectators parties, set up

all along the route as well as road closures along main street now. of course, the manayunk wall is right here, as you can see it is very steep. it is what made this race course famous across the world. so we will be live all morning, as folks begin to set up. people are going to begin testing this race right around 6:45 we'll talk to some of the folks the cyclists, some of the organizers, and talk about how this race has become a mainstay in philadelphia. live in manayunk, cherri gregg, cbs-3, "eyewitness news". okay thank you. on saturday, final farewell for beau biden president obama delivers emotional eulogy at his funeral the former delaware attorney general and the son of the vice president died after battle with brain cancer. three year old girl who fell three store frist a window has been ruled accidental. it happened on the 700 block of turner street in allentown late friday night. authority have identified the little girl as tamara arnet. the five year old sister who also fell out of the win remains hospital in the critical condition. police are working to determine what led to that fall. >> a suspect wanted for killing his exgirlfriends is found dead in a apparent suicide. police had been searching for 45 year old michael itell since thursday for allegedly stabbing 39 year old carol bone to death, found unresponsive in her berlin township driveway. police said bone had protection order against itell.

he hung himself in the garage of another ex-girlfriend's home in west berlin. >> and now to a developing story near the canadian border, the search is on for two killers who broke out after maximum security prison in up-state new york. cbs chang reports on how they did it. >> more than 200 law enforcement agents served around the correctional facility hunting forest cape east from new york largest maximum security prison. thirty-four year old david was serving life in prison without parole, for murdering a broom county sheriff's dispute any 2002. forty-eight year old richard matt serving 35 years to life for kidnapping, murdering dismember ago businessman in 1997. he fled to mexico where he stabbed another man to dead, was in press orthopedics for ten years then extradited back to new york. new york governor cuomo briefed at the prison seemed awed by the daring escape. >> no doubt it is an

extraordinary act. you have a facility opened in 1965. think about it, the first escape from the maximum security portion of the institution. ever. >> according to the governor in law enforcement, two inmates were discovered missing during 5:30 bed check there was hole in their sell wall. manhole found uncovered, and prison uniforms left nearby. governor cuomo tweeted photos of himself inspecting pipe. prison officials believe the inmates crawled through to escape underground. it is suspected the inmates used power tools to smash their cell wall, and stuff clothes under bed covered to fool guards. >> we want to find out exactly how it happened, suggestion that they needed power tools to accomplish this how did they get the power tools from who, how. >> spokeswoman says the royal canadian mounted police are on alert, as well, it is 25 miles from the boarder. >> law enforcement warns the public they should not approach these men if they

see them, and they should contact police, immediately. >> well, resident across the central planes are bracing for more wicked weather today. several tornados touched down in eastern colorado over the past few days leaving behind a path of destruction. in one denver neighborhood, motorists had to dilling out from piles of hail, more than a foot high. flooding is also a big concern, as several cars are stranded in high water. >> and storms brought lots of rain to rahwood yesterday. several inches of water flooded the streets. viewers also sent us photos from around the town. remember, of course, do not attempt to drove through flooded or high water on roadways. >> no such problem with that though today carol as we have a gorgeous -- that's a gorgeous view, by the way your halo is back. >> oh, you probably mean the sun, anyway, yes. yesterday, lots of complaints through cape may county, where wild is of course, and cape may, it was a downpour, front

came through and we had seen some rain that was going to be happening in those areas but really came down. and it marreed a lot of plans. today, full day of sunshine, this is beautiful, down in the margate area. so, just waiting for you to go there, and the weather trying desperately at the shore to make up for what was at least in that section not a good beach day. 59 degrees, right now out at the airport in philadelphia, we have 52 in trenton 58 degrees in wilmington, 45 in the poconos and you get that fall-like feel up there this morning and then, as you head down to wildwood, it is 54 degrees. so little cooler start today. because of the cool front that came through here. storm scan3 nothing to track today. we will probably have nothing to do today at all. it will be hard press today finds a cloud even. so we're going to be looking for beautiful day. high pressure to just the right place to do just the right thing for us. temperatures in the upper seven's today. we add to it tomorrow, though,

we get into the 80s tomorrow, in advance of another cold front. and this one is going to be adding to the humidity for us on monday, also, chances of showers, thunderstorms especially as we head into the afternoon hours. and maybe specially off to areas to the north of philadelphia. and then by tuesday still not completely out of here until we continue with chances of picking up a shower or thunderstorm. let's see with this computer, see if it did point out yesterday there would be some problems right along the shore. it over performed. but, still you are going to be left with better weather today. we will keep looking forward. we've got future weather going on and we've got some sunshine going on, at is 1:00 this morning and by 6:00 this afternoon we are still looking at sunshine, and by the time we get into the overnight time period, clear skies, tomorrow, maybe few more clouds, starting the day humidity definitely starting the day. and then you notice the showers, that start to break out, 5:00 tomorrow afternoon few showers some of em --

them cents you can tell by bull's eye look, get heavier. move through the philadelphia area. then as we get to monday night, 10:00 still dealing with some of the heavier showers to the north. and by the time we get to tuesday, we may still be dealing with some showers around here. soap, we can't totally rule out dry couple of days, because we will get a section of it, but then the rest of the day on monday, tuesday especially the second half, on monday, and maybe to begin with on tuesday and in the afternoon, chances of some showers. so just unsettled again we've seen that before, the rainfall amount doppler is estimating, in advance of this system, that the heaviest amounts would be off to the north, and maybe even off to the north of allentown. but still some rain through the philadelphia area. and if you get thunderstorm, obviously, that can change, because that will definitely add to your totals. 78 degrees, in philadelphia today. no rain here. sixty-eight at the shore. no rain. seventy-two in the poconos, no rain. just beautiful looking weather, moderate risk of rip current, very careful on the beaches, with the ocean

temperature now about 60 degrees. so, not great to get in the water at this point anyway. 78 degrees today. beautiful. 62 degrees tonight, mostly clear, to partly cloudy skies. next couple of days, 85 tomorrow, again, remember, the shower thunderstorm, as we move into the later half of the day. then on tuesday we may be finding that again 86 degrees. by wednesday thursday, friday saturday, we are close to the 90 degrees mark. and the humidity also coming up. how summer like of it. todd? >> indeed, carol, looks pretty good. thank you. the first official photos of princess charlotte have been released. you can see the newest member of britain's royal family in the arms of her big brother prince george. the photos were taken by their mother the dutchess of cambridge, in mid may adam err hall. charlotte was born may second, and is fourth in line to the thrown. very cute indeed. so coming up next, the best in broadway, get ready to shine at a big award ceremony

. from the cbs broadcast center in philadelphia. this is cbs-3 "eyewitness news". today is sunday, june 7th, good morning i'm todd quinones. nicole brewer has off today. we are in store for a gorgeous sunday. here's meteorologist carol erickson with eyewitness weather. just about perfect today. >> i don't think it does get better than the weather we will be finding today. it is a sunday. it is living up to the name, and the billing, and if you get a chance to get outside try to do so. because, this will be the best day probably over the next seven days. and, it looks gorgeous out there. jack frost big boulder look at. that will you can almost just see little campers rowing by that sort of thing and screaming and yelling and pushing one another out of the canoe. ocean city lots of people running around on the

boardwalk, beautiful start to the day unlike what you ended up with yesterday especially, through cape may county, when we saw a lot of rain. otherwise, we have another just beautiful boardwalk and this is down in rehoboth beach, 59 degrees down there and lovely start to the day. our storm scan3 will have nothing to do today. maybe track a cloud but that would be it. otherwise, looks like sunshine, no precipitation temperatures that start on the cool side, in the 50's, 59 in philadelphia, we have 51 allentown, dover 59 degrees, wildwood 54, 45 up in the poconos. but, look at this nice and steady warm up. we don't get too warm. we should be around 08 degrees this time of the year. we'll stop about 78 degrees. you will find the mid-afternoon temperatures, full sunshine, the winds if you see much, it will be maybe ten, 15-mile per hour wind, that would be coming say from 2:00 to 5:00 today. future weather put in motion, things look lovely here. right through 6:00. and beyond that. but not a lot beyond that.

because we've got more rain in the forecast, when i come back we will time out when we, and where we, expect to find some showers and some thunderstorms over the next couple of days, but not today todd. >> carol, thank you. hundreds compete today in philadelphia's international cycling classic the 12-mile course runs through the rolling hills of manayunk, east falls fairmount park, and kelly drive. cherry greg from sister station "kyw news radio" 1060 live in manayunk at the start of the race. good morning cherry craig. >> good morning todd, yes i'm here at lycum here at the starting and finish line at the philadelphia race in manayunk. you can seep, it is really getting busy here, they've already put up the clock organizers are making final adjustments to the stage. and as you can see people are already staking out their primo spot to watch the race. now, it just is couple of hours, the professional part of the race will start in at 45 minutes, amateurs will test the route. there are hundreds of the

world's best cyclists, they'll work their way down kelly drive, along the schuylkill river, through strawberry mansion, lemon hill, before returning here to manayunk to close the circuit. now, back out here live, big part of the race of course is making sure that the cyclists stay within the rules and that the spectators are safe. so i'm here with henry, he will be driving consair one the chief of the race will be in it. >> like you said, they make sure that the road, that the riders stay safe, that they stay healthy they get their food, they get their equipment repaired, that the streets are safe to everybody, make sure everything is fair. >> so this car is equipped with all sorts of things to make sure that in case someone has a flat tire, what do you guys have going none here? >> actually contact all the race supporters behind us, hey, this person has a flat tire, or this person needs a repair, whatever there is person radios back to them in

english and in french. >> two languages. now, in this car i understand consideration go pretty fast if you look at it, it is really cool. it has all kind of sign and. how fast does it go? >> we don't usually go that fast. we like to have our colonial gave us a loft hyundai's to use, and we like to have them out there so they give us the car, sun roof, official stands out of there so he can see everything going on, motorcycles, cars, that type every thing. >> so out of the roof, is that safe for them? >> yes, we don't go very fast. and he sort of holds on. he does this pretty much every weekend, he is an international official, he came from canada. so they do this all the time. like i said, we don't go that fast. we just kind of go down the hill. we try not to speed or anything like. that will we don't really, you know, just looks fast because it is a cool car. >> it is a cool car. of course the manayunk wall, has made this race extremely famous, folks sort of coming up that wall.

it is very, very tough. of course there will be parties, spectators, a lot more as the race begins shortly. live in manayunk, cherry craig, cbs-3, "eyewitness news". >> all right cherry, thank you very much. horse racing's greatest drought has come to an end. american pharaoh wins the belmont steaks and the triple crown. wendy gillette has the details from elmont, new york. report report american narrow made it look easy. american pharaoh made it look easy. american pharaoh has won the triple crown. he led the entire race, won the bell months steaks to clinch the triple crown. thrilling the sell out crowd of 90,000. >> we just watched history. it was beautiful. amaze amazing. i have chills. it was awesome. >> last affirmed won the last, back in 1978. >> thirty-seven years in the making. it is incredible.

because who knows when the next time somebody is going to win. >> since then, 12 horse haves been in the winners circle at the derby and preakness but fell short on mile and a half track here at belmont. >> all of the horses in saturday's race were fresher than american pharaoh, having skipped the derby preakness or bolt. >> it wasn't just a win. he blew them away. so, to me, it means he's a real horse. this guy should keep running. >> but that's unlikely, american pharaoh's breeding rights were sold late last month, and it fees now at premium. of course industry experts predict he could make his owners as much as $100 million. in elmont, new york, wendy gillette cbs-3, "eyewitness news". american pharaoh is 12th horse to rink the triple crown, and victor espinoza also the first his upon i can jock toy win the triple crown. >> we now know the identity after woman hit in the face by a broken baseball bat friday night at fenway park. she is identified as tonyia carpenter, the back struck her in the head and caused major

bleeding. initially, her injuries were described as life threatening. this morning though, she has improved. but remains in serious condition at a boston area hospital. two people are in custody after a car crashed into a house in blackwood, camden county. the house on spring ridge court suffered structural damage. investigators say, voorhees police were pursuing the vehicle prior to the crash at around 2:00 saturday morning. the driver and passenger were arrested after a brief search. no word though on why police were pursuing that car. and one man is dead after being shot multiple times in the point breeze section of philadelphia. it happened shortly after 2:00 in the afternoon, on the 2300 block every oakford forward street. police say the 43 year old victim was pronounced dead at the hospital. no arrests have been made. >> still to come here on "eyewitness news" easy ways to save on your home insurance premiums.
