this is the "cbs morning news" for monday, june 8th, 2015. good morning. good to be with you. i'm anne-marie green. new york governor andrew cuomo calls it a crisis situation. this morning a massive manhunt is under way for two convicted murderers who used power tools to escape from a maximum security prison in new york state. prison fills realized richard matt and david sweat were missing this morning. a $100,000 reward has been posted for their capture. the lincoln correctional facility is just a 45-minute drive to montreal and the men may have crossed into canada. hena daniels has our report. >> they could be anywhere. >> reporter: hundreds of law enforcement agencies and state agencies are combing the area.

the convicted killers left behind decoys in their beds saturday as they used power tools to cut their way through prison walls. >> we presume they may have had access to a vehicle and may have received assistance. >> governor andrew cuomo who toured the facility over the weekend calls the plan sophisticated. the men managed to crawl through a series of manholes and steampipes. >> no doubt to execute the period of time. the period of time could have been days. >> reporter: officials believe the dangerous fugitives could have crossed into nearby canada or traveled southwest. authorities have also alerted agencies in mexico to be on the lookout. matt who was serve 25g years to life for a murder conviction fled to mexico in 1997 before he was extradited back to the states. sweat was serving a life

sentence for murdering a deputy in in 2002. no one was injured when a united express commuter jet went off the runway as it was landing in buffalo, new york, last night. there were 69 passengers and three crew on board the twin engine jet as it arrived from washington. united said the flight landed in high winds and ended up in the grass next to the runway. passengers were bussed from the plane to the terminal. another round of strong to severe weather is on tap today from the southern plains up to the northeast. there are flash flood warnings posted this morning in the midwest, particularly in central illinois. in pea yore ya yesterday, high winds snapped trees and power lines. one large tree took out a number of power lines. the wind was so strong it even caused a few auto accidents. at one point 12,000 people were without power. and there is heavy flooding in northwest louisiana.

the red river is expected to crest today at 37 feet. more flooding is expected. nearby residents are preparing to leave. homes are already covered by rising water and some neighborhoods could remain flooded for days. meteorologist eric fisher of our boston station wbz has more on the flooding and severe weather. the story of the record rainfall we say in may continues as all that water continues to move downstream in the red river. shreveport has flooding from the red river. cresting toward thursday and minor flooding as the water continued to move downstream later in the week. but we're watching. high pressure is centering around florida. looks like a big flume of tropical moisture could move in and cause an enhanced risk. in the short term it extends west of new york city and d.c. watching the storms all the way back to nashville and memphis.

could see large hail damaging wind gusts. could see some tornados. moving off toward the east. we could expect to see it move as we start into the week. blanca will weaken into a tropical storm and then into a depression. i'm eric fish for the cbs news. this is the second day for the summit in germany. the crisis in ukraine has dominated the discussion. the president wants europe to maintain economic sanctions against russia that are due to expire next month. mr. obama says the g-7 must stand up to russian aggression in ukraine. >> i think there can be a dip peaceful diplomatic practice but the world will need to stay vigilant. >> the leaders discussed trade. world leaders are watching

events in washington to see if u.s. lawmakers grant the president the authority to move trade deals through congress quickly. and before he left for germany saturday, president obama had the sad task of eulogizing vice president joe biden's eldest son beau. >> beau biden was an original good man man of character. >> biden the former delaware attorney general, died from brain cancer a week ago at the age of 46. more than a thousand people attended saturday's service in wilmington. and a stunning defeat for the turkish president. his ruling party failed to win an outright majority in parliament in surntd's vote. he had hoped a big victory would allow him to consolidate power. now he must seek coalition partners for the first time since he came to power almost 13 years ago. chaos at a new jersey music festival as concertgoers clash

with police. the hot 97 summer jam at metlife featured some of rap's and pop's biggest names. some crushed the gates as some without tickets tried to get in. don rutherford is in new jersey with the very latest. good morning, don. >> good morning, man re. tensions boiled ore when police say what started as a crowd control problem quickly turned into chaos. >> watch out, watch out. >> it's very dangerous out here. >> reporter: new jersey state police locked in a vie legislate struggle music fans outside of metlife stadium, some throwing bottles at officers police using riot gear and military-style vehicles to disperse the crowd, many overcome by fumes from tear gas. police say they were called in to keep order after people began

climbing ore fences to get in. they told everyone outside the gate complex even if they had tickets. >> they had everybody standing outside a mob of people. they would not let us in. when i asked what was going on, they said there was some sort of riot but they wouldn't elaborate. >> reporter: the stadium was put on lockdown but many outside were upset how the police handled the situations. >> people were standing out here for over three and a half hours to get inside for paying for concerts. the way they treat us is like animals. i'll never do this again. >> reporter: the new jersey state police have not said how many people were arrested here. at one point extra officers had to be brought to the scene. anne-marie we're told one trooper was injured during those confrontations. >> don champion in east rutherford new jersey. thanks a lot, don.

since memorial day. and a texas police officer is on leash this morning after an incident at a pool party in a dallas suburb. the friday night confrontation was captured on a cell phone. mark albert reports. >> get on the ground. i told you to stay. >> reporter: this cell phone video shows officers responding to a disturbance call friday of teenagers refusing to leave a community call near dallas. ann officer can be seen pulling a 14-year-old girl in a swimsuit on the ground and then pulling a gone on a group trying to intervene. the officer then kneels on her back. greg conley is the chief of police. >> it's something we're going to have to look into as far as the training and the officers and their reaction on the scene. >> reporter: police say they made one arrest on an 18-year-old man. he was released sunday.

this girl had seen the girl pushed to the ground. >> this wasn't right. >> reporter: residents were split on whether the believe targeted mostly african-american teenagers. >> these are children. they've got be able to handle things better than this. >> i do believe he was trying to restore order. i don't believe this there was anything malicious r police did not say how long their investigation would take. mark albert for cbs news. almost a thousand bikers staged a protest against police in waco, texas. the motorcyclists were staging a protest against police in the bloody aftermath of the incident in may. more than 100 bikers are still behind bars. and a woman hit by a broken bat at fenway park is recovering from her injuries. the bat of brett lawrie broke and flew into the stands. she was hit in the head.
