♪ tonight we have our eye on the storm. torrential downpours and gusty winds roll through parts of the region in limerick montgomery county the rain came down in sheets. a very ominous looking site tonight in exeter township berks county. drivers there had to take it slow as heavy rains made for poor visibility. >> these storms also packed lightning tonight. the skies over center city philadelphia lit up and we're not out of the woods yet. here's storm scan3. it shows plenty of activity remains at this hour. thunderstorms moved through the delaware valley and head east. good evening i'm chris may. >> i'm jessica dean. let's get right over to meteorologist kathy orr whose been tracking these storms all night. kathy, what can we expect as we move through the evening? >> well right now no severe weather but the threat will continue into the overnight a lot of oranges and reds that is heavy rain in excess of about an inch an hour. this is moving toward the northeast and more near baltimore and washington heading toward our northern and western

suburb. so definitely not out of the woods yet. you can see through south jersey glassboro vineland some heavy rain this is moving southeast at about 40 miles an hour down the expressway heading toward mullica, mays landing galloway and toward the shore. places we haven't seen the rain just yet. so more rain overnight and some downpours. you can see some of our storm reports poles down in mertz town with wind gusts in excess of 60 miles an hour. top ton wires down. skippack large hail and pottsville in schuylkill unconfirmed funnel cloud another one in berks county. so we'll continue to keep you updated on that. in the meantime overnight scattered showers and storms local downpours rain amounts up to an additional inch and winds gusting to 45 miles an hour. we are under the marginal risk for severe weather overnight with downpours gusty winds and the possibility of hail and even the threat during the day tomorrow we'll talk more about that with the seven day later in the broadcast as we continue to track these storms. jess, they're not going to let up any time soon.

looking for answers. >> i'm truly disgusted. >> reporter: claymont resident a meara green demands to know who scratched a swastika and the inform word into her car sometime early sunday morning. >> you would think in 2015 we still wouldn't be going through this. >> reporter: a mother of six told "eyewitness news" the repairs will cost at least a thousand dollars. but she's more concerned about the symbolism behind the vandalism. >> i stopped crying this afternoon early this afternoon. 'cause i was emotional wreck all day yesterday. >> reporter: a mirror green first noticed there was problem when five of her flower pots were stolen. she check the rest of the her property and discovered this swastika keyed on hood of her car. her husband brian's car parked just few feet behind is also scratched with a key along the body. >> it hurts. it hurts. because we get along with everybody in the neighbor. we don't have a problem with anybody. >> reporter: new county police detectives say what happened is a hate crime no doubt about it.

>> if he we don't know if the suspect or suspects is going to return and then will it escalate escalate. >> i'll get past it eventually. >> david spunt cbs3 "eyewitness news". a man is now in custody in a new jersey hit-and-run that left a teenager injured. 17-year-old kyle, was hit sunday morning on north hook road in pennsville. police say 23-year-old zachary mcdonough was the hit-and-run driver and that he used a relative's car cover to hide his damaged car. he's now said to be cooperating with investigators. as for pzsenny he was riding his skateboard when he was hit and suffered severe head injuries. >> to see him and the whole family all upset and i'm just in shock seeing him like that. >> he remains in christiana hospital in delaware tonight. his mother though says he is showing reaction to light. there will be a vigil held for his recovery tomorrow night at pennsville memorial high school.

today a fraternity expelled 38 members from its penn state chapter. former pledge turned whistleblower james filed a lawsuit against the fraternity and the university this morning. the suit alleges he and others were forced to drink a mixture of alcohol and bodily fluids. there were also allegations of sexual harassment which reportedly included a secret fraternity facebook page where members allegedly posted photos of nude and unconscious female students. >> there's an image maybe one of the more disturbing of a young man an young woman both of them passed out in a port o potty with her panties at her ankles. >> the complaint alleges penn state waited too long to take action. however the university says in a statement he would not file a complaint or pursue the formal disciplinary process when investigators first met with him him. a grand jury in south carolina indicts a police officer for murder in the

shooting death of a man there. north charles police officer michael slager caught on camera firing eight times as 50-year-old walter scott tried to run away on april 4th that. killing inflamed a national pee debate how black people are treated by white police officers officers. slager agree up in mt. laurel and graduated from lenape high school. mckinney texas police officer has been placed on administrative leave after a controversial encounter with a group of teenagers. corporal eric casebolt was recorded throwing a 15-year-old girl to the ground and using his knees to pin her do you think he also showed cursing at the crowd and at one important he pull his weapon. all of this happened during a pool party that got out of hand. the mckenny police department is now investigating. we're getting a look tonight at surveillance video of a bank robbery from montgomery county. take a look at it. authorities want your help to find this man who hit the bank of america branch on plymouth road in plymouth meeting last week. he actually fired a gun during

the search is intensifying tonight for two killers who broke out of new york's max numb security prison. convicted murderers david sweat and richard matt are on the run for a third day since they pulled off their daring escape at the clinton correct al facility in upstate new york. the killers useed power tools to cut through steal and brick. then they shimmied through amaze underground steam pipes and tunnels before they popped out of a manhole and made a run for it. >> there's limited surveillance tapes with the facility. we have taken a look. nothing has been fruitful at this time for our investigation. >> that prison is 20 miles from the canadian border and officials say those men could be anywhere tonight. 61 people arrested and 10

new jersey state troopers were hurt outside of a clash outside of a concert at metlife stadium in north jersey last night. that sold was showed out and fans without tickets tried to get and sigh. police in riot gear responded and blocked the gates which upset people who actually did have tickets. officers fired tear gas into the crowd then -- some through bottles back at them. concert organizers are offering refunds to any fans who tickets were not scanned. >> apple showcased showcased brand knew products and philadelphians will get an early look at one of the iphones new tools. philadelphia is among 10 launch cities for the new public transit feature on apple maps. it will give directions to and information for bus train and subway service. apple today also unveiled apple music which combines down loads streaming music and streaming radio. it will cost about 10 bucks a month. a problem with a parachute ended nasa's test of the system designed to last spacecraft on

we have more rain in center city philadelphia. it's still raining in the suburbs. those crews trying to clean up that mess getting wet tonight and we're seeing the showers everywhere. some heavy rain on storm scan3 it's moving toward the north and east. you can see the line through new england, through the i-95 corridor down through baltimore and washington, and cutting right through tennessee and kentucky. all of this moving toward the northeast. more showers moving in overnight and then a cold front swings through tomorrow morning. with a few more scattered showers possible in the afternoon. but this is the bulk of the rain for tonight. interior south jersey getting the hit down the shore we haven't seen anything but you will see rain overnight in philadelphia still moderate to heavy rains falling as well in our suburbs. in horsham and marple and chester still getting hit concord west goshen getting a little bit of break but more showers expected during the overnight hours. across the area, we've seen a good deal rain in many locations over an inch in reading near an inch and a half. honey brook which is in western chester county an inch nearly an

firm rat field and more coming down. downingtown .81 and ambler over a half an inch of rain. now temperatures rain cooled but it is so sticky out there you can really feel the difference. i can feel it with my hair. you can see the dew points sticky muggy overnight. dew points in the 60s means it will stay pretty muggy ununcomfortable tomorrow. that front finally moves through tomorrow morning. scattered showers and storms possibly in the morning again in the afternoon high temperature in the 80s. and then we'll watch more comfortable day for wednesday. in the wake of this front drier air builds in temporarily wednesday a nice day but then another front quickly moves in from the northwest squeezes the heat and humidity up the coastal plane. 90s for thursday. and even 90s for friday. overnight the low 70 degrees. with a few more scattered showers and heavy downpours. the high tomorrow going for 85. hour by hour a chance of some showers in the morning. again in the afternoon. heating up into the 80s. on the exclusive i wet weather seven day forecast, and shore
