complete. the golden state warriors are the 2015 nba champions. captioning funded by cbs this is the "cbs morning news" for wednesday, june 17th, 2015. good morning. good to be with you. i'm anne-marie green. this morning tropical depression bill is losing strength as it moves inland over texas, but the threat of torrential downpours and dangerous flash flooding remains. bill is headed north with maximum sustained winds of near 35 miles per hour. bill slammed into the gulf coast yesterday as a tropical storm. up to 8 inches of rain is expected to fall into parts of texas and oklahoma. wendy gillette has our story. >> reporter: tropical storm bill weakened to a depression overnight, whipping up waves along the texas coast as it continues to move slowly inland. many residents in the area who

voluntarily evacuated yesterday are not happy about with threat of more rain. >> my biggest concern is just for everybody who has property here. >> reporter: bill blew ashore as a tropical storm late yesterday morning packing 60-mile-an-hour winds. the system is losing strength as it moves over land but it's still likely to bring 4 to 6 inches of rain over eastern texas and up to a foot farther north. in grand prairie, people have already received evacuation orderers. >> reporter: the severe weather comes after it left 30 people dead and thousands of homes destroyed in zlas. they're not taking any chances. >> to have all of the decision-makers in one room so if anything that needs to happen can happen very quickly. >> reporter: bill is expected to bring more severe weather to parts of the south and midwest as it moves east. wendy gillette for cbs news.

investigators are trying to figure out what caused a fifth story balcony to collapse in berkeley, california. six people were kill and seven others seriously injured yesterday morning. the apartment house see located near the university of california campus. the victims were attending a 21st birthday party. investigators say 13 people were crammed onto the small balcony when it gave way. people who were killed were five people from ireland. >> i was absolutely devastated to hear the news particularly when one things of young lives with an age of so much looking forward to the future. >> the victims fell 50 feet to the ground. investigators will look at whether the balcony was built to code or whether it was overloaded. new york state police plan to expand the search area for

the escaped murderers. they broke out of a maximum security prison in northern new york. prison ploem joyce mitchell may have aided them in escaping. she may have been used for a de-kroy and someone else picked them up. the psychiatrist for james holmes is speak publicly for the first time. she said she didn't have a reason to order holmes hospitalized before the massacre but she was concerned enough to reach out to campus security and to call holmes' mother. >> she said essentially that he had always been like this meaning very shy and socially awkward. >> holmes has pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity in the 2012 attack that killed 12

people. a new york city college student is in custody this morning accused of plantsning a terror attack. court documents describe him as a fervent supporter of isis. he had recently researched pressure cookers and new york city land marcs. he was arrested after seen walking on the george washington bridge in march. he is a u.s. citizen enrolled in aeronautics school. in court tuesday they called abdul malik abdul kareem off the charts dangerous. he allegedly provided guns and helped plan the attack at a prophet muhammad cartoon contest in texas last month. two teammates were killed in a shoot-out. now a baseball story about alleged hacking and it has

nothing to do with a bad swing. one of the most storied franchises, st. louis cardinals is being investigated by the fbi for hacking into the computers of another team the houston astros. both teams say they are cooperating. major league baseball says subpoenas have been issued. >> obviously any kind of allegation like this no matter what it turns out is of concern to us. >> they first reported that someone broke in last year. >> there was an illegal activity and we're going to pursue it. >> he said hackers published months on internal trade talk. >> it's a very unfortunate circumstance when somebody illegally from the outside breaks into the proeprietary
