a gruesome attack in the olney neighborhood of philadelphia overnight a man was stabbed and then shot before he was robbed. why police are hopeful they can find those responsible. good morning i'm erika von tiehl. i'm nicole brewer in for ukee this morning. we have summer paving underway in philadelphia where crews are starting and how drivers will be affect, katie. nicole, we are looking to a much more pleasant day when it comes to just your sheer comfort out there today expect dew points, humidity levels moisture in the air is dropping off. you can't get too used to it but enjoy it while you got it. we will take you outside to sky cam three where things are off to a quiet start

skies have cleared and this goes for everyone and we are expect to go keep that nice clear sky for better part of the day. problem is it does not last forever. make the mess of the pleasant weather while you've got it. we will talk tropical moisture on the way as we look ahead to the full forecast, all coming up, erika back to you. new this morning, three people accused of shooting and stabbing a man before robbing him in philadelphia's olney neighborhood mr. now police are looking for the suspects. "eyewitness news" reporter justin finch is live at police headquarters, good morning. >> reporter: good morning. at this point victim is a joe dough, stabbed in his back, shot in the thigh and he has puncture wound to his face. he told police before passing out he was robbed of his wallet cell phone ape watch. lets go to video of the crime scene in olney at sixth street. the calls came into police just after 11:30. police arrived to find that man on the sidewalk, stabbed in his back, punched in his

face and shot in the left eye. all they know about the victim is that he is in his 20's or early 30's. that victim did tell police he was attack by two men and one woman who stole his wallet, cell phone and watch. he was taken to einstein medical center as police, set up their crime scene and began their investigation in olney. >> we do have several witnesses in this mainly residential neighborhood who witnessed not only the the assault ape robbery but also the shooting. they are being interviewed by northwest detectives at this time. >> reporter: police potentially have witnesses in this case and they are scanning that area for surveillance video in hopes of getting a a look at the people three people in the a attack. as for that victim he is believed to be in extremely critical condition and is now under going operations. we are live at police headquarters i'm justin finch for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". coming up at 4:33.

we better enjoy today. >> if you are not a fan of humidity because that will be building once again and we are expecting a more active pattern to move back in the delaware valley looking forward in the forecast. today we have a nice break. make the most of it. storm scan three is completely quiet and empty. not even a hint of ground lover. but we are in the looking at any wet weather today. later tonight that does all change again as a warm front lifts back in. we can see the cold front from yesterday, moving on through to the south. it drops off to the south and then we will see a new cold front or i should say a warm front into the overnight and lead nothing to tomorrow. pattern remains active for us but today is a bright spot. high pressure in place and a lovely day setting up here. let's talk comfort, shall we. dew point measures moisture in the air. current dew point is comfortable already dropping to about 60 degrees right now. pretty much when you hit 65 or high other you will net is the steaminess but we expect those

zone. if we are traveling on the 42 freeway we have an active construction zone on the 42 freeway southbound making your way at creek road. majority is on the shoulder but it is compromising a rain or two. traffic is moving beyond it, ever so fine, because there is in volume to speak of at this hour. really all majors even with construction are moving well, so i cannot deliver too much bad news, which is a good thing for us all. we have construction in the northeast on the northbound and southbound sides of the roosevelt boulevard between rhawn and strahl, inner lanes are closed so just stay to the outer lanes and bypass it without a problem. we have construction on i-95 northbound at 476 blocking the off ramp, nicole. a major repaving project is underway in center city. construction is much needed after long winter took its toll on area road. work began monday night tearing up asphalt in olde city. crews will try to make road like these better. >> it makes the street safer

the cities mass transit plans on our web site at cbs philly.com and click on papal visit. just an fyi mayor will be among a delegation heading to the vatican to finalize plans surrounding our papal visit. our jessica dean will be traveling with them and she will have have reports starting next monday on "eyewitness news". right now philadelphia police are searching for a man whom they say stole ten taxi cabs in one week. they believe those stolen cabs are being used to commit other crimes including a recent shooting and robbery in west philadelphia. so far five of the taxis have been recovered. they are 2007 through 2009 crown victorias that were ones used as police cars. suspect has been the disabling the tracking systems inside those cars as soon as they are stolen. man who robbed a pharmacy and carjack a priest in camden county is still on the loose this morning. that man got away with with prescription drugs from the rite aide in haddonfield last night.

he pulled a gun inside that store, carjack the priest and abandoned the car and ran off. he is described as a white man, 6-foot two and 200-pound. if you have any information you are asked to call police. rachel dolezal says her racial identity is more complex then it seems. she resign as a head of the naacp spokane chapter after her parents said she's a white woman passing herself off as black. her story fascinates philadelphia civil rights leader todd bernstein president of the global citizen is white. bernstein says he had has no problems leading a civil rights group as a white man. >> there are a lot of people who work as a allies of the civil rights movement, like myself being white but i certainly don't pretend to be something other than who i am bernstein says dolezal may have been more effective as a

leader if she came clean years ago. erika. in campaign 2016 donald trump wants to go the from the board room to the oval office. yesterday, the will real estate mogul and reality tv star host announced he is running for president. trump is joining the president race and says his goal, it is to make america great again. donald trump has been flirting with running for president in the past but this is first time he has officially thrown his hat in the ring. and trump may have entered the race but made pretty clear many people just don't see him as a serious contender. democratic national committee jokingly said trump's entry in the raspberries some much needed seriousness to the g.o.p. field. comedian jumped at the chance to make fun of the donald for his colorful speech. >> as you know donald trump announced he is running for president, true or false, the following will were actual lines in his speech. now please keep in mind that the answer will always be,

tropical storm bill has been downgraded to a tropical depression as its dumps rain on texas. center of that depression was located 40 miles east of austin just before 1:00 this morning. windy creased to 35 miles an hour and it is expect to weaken over next few days. still inches of rain are expect in texas and neighboring states as well. tropical depressions can dump rain. >> absolutely. that is what we have to remember here is that they have gotten downgraded they measure this by wind strength and central pressure. the rain will be a concern here guys. as we look forward. this is something we will track in our area believe it or not by this weekend. fathers day specifically looks like it could get dicey here.

philadelphia police are searching for three people in connection with the armed robbery in olney. a man was stabbed several times and then shot once. they say two men and one woman got away with cash, a watch and a cell phone. that victim is in critical condition. the city of philadelphia is getting road ready for september's papal visit. more than two dozen road repaving projects will be underway in center city over the next month some several blocks long. work started monday night in olde city. speaking of the papal visit, the city announce the transit plan to handle millions of people expected to

time for traffic and weather together with vittoria, good morning. >> good morning everyone. right now we are traveling very well, on all of our majors we are starting first in center city, traveling on the vine street expressway westbound commute no problems there. earlier construction for the most part has been lifted on

the westbound side, folks every day they have been switching between west and eastbound closures of the vine because of construction. right now trying to head in the eastbound direction you can now access vine street expressway from the schuylkill. that is an improvement. i-95 no delays at all beautiful ride in and out of the northeast. this side southbound traffic taillights, north bound your head lights and it doesn't matter if you are traveling center city, south philadelphia, delaware county it is all good. we have an accident on the eastbound side of the pennsylvania turnpike between willow grove and bensalem, left lane is block. because we are not dealing with so much volume would i say it is not causing too much problem but something to be mindful of. katie, two things. one, i like your dress. not that i don't love it all the time but today is exceptional and two how are we looking weather-wise. >> thanks, first and foremost. you are so sweet. you just made me morning. we are looking ahead to great weather. i think sun glare may be an
