a manhunt is underway this morning in south carolina police are searching for person responsible for shooting and killing a pastor and eight others at a charleston church. why police are calling this a hate crime. and, heavy rain is expect to move through the area this morning we will tell you how it could affect your morning drive. good morning i'm quarter von tiehl. i'm nicole brewer. lets get started with the check of the forecast as it is just coming down, katie. >> it is coming down heavily enough to slow you down anytime we have wet weather we always have a story. as soon as my name disappears here what you will see down below that is reflection off the surface here at camden ball yard.

it is going to be heavier in some spots then others and you can see on storm scan three as we put things in motion the last few hours some heavier pockets of the rain currently falling across chester county for example and shore points in the last few hours. that first batch is now moving out to sea. there is not a clear even point just yet but we do think by this afternoon things will dry out across the board. for now we are stuck with this. even if it isn't raining when you leave the house you may run into pockets of rain and see spray off vehicles. it is slowing everyone down regardless. visability, not horrible right now we're down to 4 miles at the airport. 4 miles wilmington. 3 miles ac airport. you don't have fog necessarily but with that wet weather again that will reduce your visibility and because it is wet outside, would i suggest that umbrella if you are going out the next couple of hours. expect to see these temperatures rebound in the 70's even though we should dry

out with just some clouds. do expect that because of the cloud cover temperatures won't have a chance to climb that readily. we're talking upper 70's at best nicole, back to you. an accident caused big problems on i-95 in chester. it happened right after 11:30 near exit six. several vehicles were involve in the crash and for a while police shut down all north bound lanes for that investigation. we will get an update with vittoria she's standing by with more on that, vittoria. >> thanks very much, nicole. right now traveling on i-95 has been all cleaned up, but with the setbacks it has caused you may notice that there could be some construction activities in and and that area as far as clean up goes because that is what happens when you you have something so severe. northbound i-95 even though it a has been cleared be mindful it may set you back a tad this morning. in regards to the majors we

are moving well with the exception it is damp a and wet outside. taking a look at the vine street expressway difficult to see in this shot here but eastbound on the vine is opened westbound however right and left lane are closed because of construction between area of broad street, and schuylkill expressway. traffic on both sides or at least you noticed it was on both sides. we're doing okay, access both schuylkill and i-95 between vine street expressway with the construction out there this morning. schuylkill right around girard, traveling in either direction here again no delays majors are very quiet. no major delays for mass transit but call ahead at the airport, erika. back to our breaking news in south carolina police are still searching for gunman who shot and killed nine people in the historic, black south carolina church. pastor, state senator clemente pickany is among those kill. police say suspect opened fire in the emmanuel a.m. e church during a prayer meeting last

night. they are calling the attack a hate crime there were some survivors but unclear how many. suspect is described as a white man in his early 20's. >> i can assure thaw we are going to do everything in our power to find this individual, to lock him up, and to make sure that he does not hurt anyone else. >> reporter: church's congregation is predominantly black and it is one of the oldest largest african-american churches in the south. back here in our area search is on for a man who attacked a woman in the septa station. >> "eyewitness news" reporter justin finch at september's 13th street station where commuters are on alert this morning, justin, good morning. >> reporter: on alert for good reason because by all account this was a random attack which adds to the urgency to find the razor wielding suspect this morning. we can also tell you that some 4700 people are estimated to go through the market orthodox station where this attack took

place, some 2,000 in the morning alone and let's show thaw suspect at this time. this was taken by septa a surveillance just before the attack at 9:30 wednesday morning at margaret orthodox station. that suspect here is described as a black male, medium build it is perhaps in his 20's. the victim a 50 year-old woman who had 9:30 yesterday america just paid her fare and on her way from her commute when this man suddenly derailed her day lets take a listen. >> she approached the fair line. a man began speaking to her. an argument ensued. the man punched her. she does not know that man. had never seen him before. she tea fended herself, for the back, at which point the man drew a razor and cut her on her forearm. >> reporter: she suffered a 5-inch gash to her forearm. she was treated for that and is recovering. she should be okay. we are told this man is still

out there again a a black male in his 20's, medium build seen around that station. if you are in that area keep an extra eye out police want to find him as soon as possible. we are live in center city i'm justin finch for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". new this morning gunfire damages four cars in north philadelphia, bullet casings littered 600 block of west tioga around 11:30. police have two men in custody, one considered a person of interest. investigators say they have recovered a gun and no one was hurt. police are searching for the man who allegedly killed mother of his three children in north philadelphia. family of brittany green mourned outside her home where her body was found. police say jarill hall stabbed green to death before fleeing with the couple's three young children. they were later dropped off at her mother's house

unharmed. he should be considered armed and dangerous. we have new information in the manhunt for two escaped killers in upstate new york. these are so-called progression photos of the david sweat and richard matt. they depict what the future killers may look like since their stunning brings on break. both men with grizzly beard and shag i hair. prison worker charged with helping them escaped had discussed having then killed her husband who was also a prison worker. law enforcement agents are asking the public for help in finding these escapees. >> if there is one word, that i thought of, throughout this investigation, it is relentless. we are going to pursue every lead, and we are going to locate these individuals and they will be apprehended. >> fugitives have been on the run for two weeks. police say they are expanding their search areas to new areas in the prison near clinton county. happening today top name republicans gather for a conference in philadelphia.

here's a camera lens for you here with some rain drops on it, it is taken from our rooftop here in center city. obviously low hanging cloud hovering over center city sky line as well. we will throw these current conditions overtop and it is certainly plenty of humidity to work with which makes sense since we have moisture out there. 67 degrees, at philly international. thinks a warm front related but what is interesting is this end up being the coolest day of the next seven dau we are stuck under cloud cover. regardless of whether it is a warm front or coal front we are not warming up all that much from it and it is all going to be lifting out of here as time progresses. got to touch on what is going on with what is currently tropical depression bill. spin continues to be obvious with this system. it will be trackable as we move forward in the forecast and get swept up in the rest of the flow, and eventually we will think it will have an impact on our area let's bring you back to what is going on out there right now. we will look to future weather

updating breaking news, one people are dead. police say a white man walk in the emmanuel church a historic african-american church and then opened fire. authorities are calling the violence a hate crime that shooter remains at large. philadelphia police hope you can help them identify this person of interest in slashing attack on market frankford line. fifty year-old woman was slashed with the raiser 9:30 at the margaret orthodox station after an argument. and police are searching for gerald hall in the stabbing death of the mother of his children, 28 year-old brittany green. authorities say that hall took the couple's three children and dropped them off unharmed at his mother's house. all right. how much do you love chick-fil-a.

let's get traffic and weather together. good morning vittoria. >> good morning, erika good morning everyone. if you are traveling out and about we are not dealing with many problems. our biggest problem and hurdle will be this morning will be the weather causing dampness and slickness we have right now. traveling on the vine street expressway. it is wide opened. i have to shout out to sam clever at kyw news radio 1060, our sister station because he did let me know that traffic has, is now free to go in either direction. they were, doing some construction but they pick it up early because of the weather, however tomorrow they will be blocking both lanes, on the vine street expressway between the schuylkill and broad because of construction. shout out to sam i appreciate it. moving to the 42 freeway, 42 moving well. we have headlights coming toward us on the northbound side on 295 slow out there because of the weather but we are not dealing with many problems this morning. mass transit is in the clear

but probably good idea to call ahead, right katie. >> absolutely this wet weather will slow you down. even though you may not have the heaviest pocket of rain, in your area, it is a affecting everybody. you will get slowed down by reduced visibility, of course, wet road, spray from the vehicles and on storm scan we have activity to track here right over philadelphia, heavier pockets of the rain, currently falling at this hour. a along major roadways we are getting hit at this hour. meanwhile today is not a total wash out with the heavier of the rain is going to linger until 9:00 a.m. and tapering off around noon time. there could certainly be poor drainage flooding because of this. it is coming through in heavier pockets but good news, at the afternoon although cloudy should dry out. second half of the day probably better than mess of you. brighter by comparison, saturday in the bad but sunday a fresh round of something iness with tropical moisture heading our way nicole.

morning. >> we need the umbrella this morning. soggy start for the day. >> katie, how is sit looking for the rest of the day. >> we like to be specific about do you really need an umbrella. i say go for it. if you leave the house any time this morning, it is not the worst idea because this rain is coming through pretty widespread in coverage and pretty steadily at times too. so you've got that going on. it will slow you down. eventually we will be stuck with cloud but for now looking at storm scan three the brunt of the moisture, you can see across the southern most portion of the del marva in the last hour or so but here at home, we have had our fair share of soggy conditions here, and thinks all a warm front related but we're generally watching this moving from west to east and sort of start to dry out with time. there will be eventually some more moisture that fires up outside our viewing area into central pa but overall cloudy afternoon, wet start. so that is what you are looking at here. sixty-seven is the current temperature at the airport. we will not see
