speaking out. residents in one philadelphia neighborhood say they're fed up with the recent rash of violence, good evening, i'm natasha brown. thanks for joining you. 11 people including three kids shot in just a matter of days. the latest attack happened just last night during a block party and tonight "eyewitness news" reporter matt rivers spoke with a woman who jumped into action to help one of those victims. >> reporter: the gun shots still echoed in the air as the victims stumbled towards her door. >> he was bleeding. i was telling him to come in the house. >> reporter: yvette sanders was sitting in her backyard saturday night watching the block party wind down when two suspects walked up and one of them fired a shot gun into the crowd. what did you jeer. >> you know, at first it sounded like a car crash. >> reporter: one of the victims a grown man came to her door. she did what she could and called 911. that man one of 10 shot in total including a 12-year-old an 11-year-old and an 18 month

old child. >> this is just ridiculous. last week and then this week. innocent people got shot and the children. >> reporter: she's referring to a shooting on june 9th, 1 block away where a man shot someone jumped into a stolen taxi and drove away. the shooter remains at large as to the two suspects from saturday night. police say a fight last week is likely behind this late of the round of violence. yvette sanders doesn't care. >> i'm nervous and upset because you know now children can't even play, you know, i'm scared to go to the store. so actually i'm trying to pong and get out of here. i can't live like this. >> reporter: police say at this point they're not sure if those two suspects fled on foot or by car but they are asking for the public's help. they say these two suspects are likely known to that neighborhood and so if anyone has any information on who they might be they're asked to call police. we're outside of southwest

"eyewitness news" out in mount ephraim camden county for a nice cool treat and we'll be looking for ways to keep cool tomorrow. meteorologist justin drabick is out on the cbs3 sky deck with a first look to the forecast. justin is it still muggy out there. >> it is natasha. water ice would be great right now. you you can still feel a lot of humidity, you'll probably need your air conditioners tonight as we're sitting in this hot and humid air mass as we kick off the work week. check out storm scan3. we have one isolated storm system that did develop along a cold front moving through our region. the storm is moving into gloucester county and here as you look south from the sky deck you can see a little bit of lightning in the distance but heavy rainfall around mullica hill heading over glassboro pretty much traveling to the east at about 40 miles per hour right along 32 so just abwear that of if

you're traveling through the gloucester county area eventually into atlantic county new jersey. this is the only isolated storm we're dealing with right now. everybody else should stay dry through the overnight hours. the big story the temperatures. very mild outside right now. we're talking about numbers in the mid 80's still. it's 86 at philadelphia international airport, 78 in wilmington. you factor in the humidity this hour, it still feels like almost 90 in philadelphia, 89 is the heat index low to mid 80's in south jersey. it's a warm start tomorrow morning. we'll be waking up with temperatures in the lower 70's so a little bit on the muggy side and another hot afternoon. 91 for the high for philadelphia mid 80's at the shore with a breeze coming right off the land. in the poconos temperatures still pretty warm in the sunshine in the low 70's. now coming up in the full forecast we'll talk about how long the heat and humidity lasts and our next best chance for storms coming up in a few minutes. natasha back to you. >> justin thank you. a very scary scene in delaware county where a train

collided with a car. it happened on turner road near the wallingford station on septa's media elwyn line. a man in his 90's was taken to the hospital in serious condition. the 37 people on the train including the crew members were not injured. the accident remains under investigation. a show of strength and solidarity in south carolina tonight. hundreds of people formed a unity chin in honor of the nine victims killed wednesday at the emanuel african methodist episcopal church. as marlie hall shows us it was spent honoring the leaving lost. >> we want to remember the families. >> reporter: worshipers black and white were arm in arm during sunday's suffer at the emanuel ame church in charleston. the overflow crowd heard messages of love hope and forgiveness. >> there's a time and place for everything and now it's a

time for us to focus on the nine families. >> reporter: the faithful prayed for the nine parishioners gunned down during bible study last wednesday night. >> we are minded this morning about the freshness of death comes like a thief in the night. >> reporter: sunday service here at emanuel ame has ended but the praying has not. religious group have been stopping by in solidarity to pay their respects. >> it's very very hard and tearful. i wanted to come here and unite with everybody as a whole. >> reporter: hundreds marched across the arthur ravnel jr. show of support. since the deadly shooting anger has grown against symbols of the confederacy. two senators say they'll introduce bills to remove the

sightings of richard matt and david sweat in allegany county, new york. that's more than 300 miles southwest of the maximum security prison. they broke out of more than two weeks ago. the u.s. marshall's service has added the pair to its 15 most wanted list and a $50,000 reward is currently being offered for information leading to either man's capture. now, police in new orleans have arrested a man suspected of killing a police officer. investigators say 33-year-old travis boyce was handcuffed early saturday morning. he allegedly managed to get his hands out from behind his back and somehow got ahold of a gun. there was a struggle and holloway was shot. the officer's weapon was not used in this case. investigators recovered two other guns. one believed to be the murder weapon. holloway had worked for the police department since 1992. he was the father of three children.

>> you couldn't be around him for longer than a minute without becoming his friend. we're all going to miss him and new orleans will miss holloway. >> the suspect is being treated at a local hospital and he'll face murder charges once he's released. at least 200 people are still out of their homes tonight in bucks county because of a gas leak. this leak was discovered late this morning at the chesterfield apartments on the 1300 block of veterans highway in levittown. the red cross has set up a shelter for affected residents tonight and peco estimates service will be restored by midnight. a dramatic rescue in camden county. police say a driver careened into the cooper river at about 8 o'clock this morning on south park drive in collingswood. rescuers were able to pull the man to safety. he's a father. he was in that car. he was alerted to the accident by a man who lives nearby and

saw the whole thing happen from inside his home. >> i was having my coffee just looking outside of the window and i saw that guy is stopping on the other side of the street from my house. the driver started to have a seizure. i wanted to go help him when all of a sudden he step on the accelerator and ran right into the river. >> police say the man was taken to the hospital. there's no word yet on his condition. a delegation from philadelphia is on its way tonight to the vatican. they're heading to rome to participate in planning meetings for pope francis' upcoming trip to philadelphia in september. and thank you. >> medals earned in war decades ago now in the hands of the u.s. navy veterans. wenzell's daughters presented him with the victory medal and american campaign and asiatic pacific medals at his home in hatfield. the mission to request the medals began a year ago during an emotional trip to the world war ii museum in d.c. with their father. >> i'm just so happy that he got these before he leaves this world because i just -- it was something that i felt he needed to see. this is what you earned. this is was did for our can country. >> i just never bothered going after them. i didn't think they were that important. like i say, where. i going to wear them? down the middle of broad street. >> wenzell served his can country humbly and admirablely, no need for flashy medals he said. no time to worry about accolades when memories of the

this track and speed they'll take it through chisel hurts bass river just after midnight and stafford coming in around 12:15. again this storm racing off to the east at about 40 miles per hour could drop some quick downpours, maybe even some hail. the temperatures are on the rise. 85 is where we should be for this time of year. tomorrow forget about it, low 90's, mid 90's on tuesday. that's going to be the hottest day. if you're waiting for cooler weather just wait until the end of the week into next weekend. friday and upcoming saturday, sunday we'll take those temperatures a little below average for this time of year. for the month of june it's been warm averaging 2 degrees above for the temperature. highest temperature so far 95 degrees. we may break that on tuesday or at least come close to that and the precip, some good news we need the rain, we're now over two and a half inches of rain for the month above

average. 70's to our north and west so it's a little bit cooler as you get behind the front. looks like 71 we're not going to see that moving into the delaware valley. just the humidity levels come down a bit. monday still on the humid side but you'll notice a difference compared to today. tuesday back up to steamy levels. we get another front through. looks like benz is the most comfortable day of the week. it will feel pleasant but still warm. by the end of the week we bring back the humidity levels just a little bit. cold front moves through overnight. back to sunny skies but it's hot. low90's for the afternoon temperatures. watch out for late day showers and storms as this next cold front comes through. what that does it pushes out all the humidity once again for wednesday so it does feel more comfortable but still warm wednesday afternoon. temperatures in the upper 80's. so, overnight isolated storm into south jersey by 7:00 a.m.

tomorrow morning we're waking up in the sunshine so not a bad commute. into the afternoon, mostly sunny skies. tuesday most of the day does stay dry. watch what happens. say, 4, 5 o'clock here comes the next front. temperatures waking up tomorrow it's going to be warm again, near 90 degrees for the inland locations and then look at tuesday's high temperatures inland spots well into the mid 90's. even near the shore i think we get close to 90 degrees with an off shore wind so again overnight a few clouds around 73, maybe that isolated storm in south jersey. hot day monday, mostly sunny 91. your shore forecast a lot of sun, 86. ocean water has dropped to 67 degrees. here's the extended forecast. we'll go to the mid 90's on tuesday. back to the 80's wednesday thursday, a little bit more comfortable. by the end of the week upper 70's with a chance for

>> a cool treat for dads this father's day courtesy of camden county police. officers helped hand out ice cream and other frozen favorites to fathers in camden. they made several stops with the ice cream truck and as we suspect it wasn't just dads dipping into the cones. >> of course not. everybody should have ice cream especially on a hot day like today. >> you'll need it the next couple days. summer forecast for sure. tomorrow 91 degrees, humidity backs off a little bit tomorrow. but still very hot and then it just creeps back on tuesday. look at that. 94 degrees. record high on tuesday is 97. so getting close. watch out for some late day showers and storms but by the end of the week, look at that, friday 80 degrees, showers and upper 70's for next week. just got to get through the next couple days. >> thank you justin thanks for joining us tonight. we're always on cbsphilly.com.
