t, if you see standing or rushing water on a road don't try to drive through it even if you see other folks driving through it, just stay off those roads because it can lead very quick to a potential technological life-threatening situation. turn around don't drown. find an alternate route tonight. through midnight we have showers and thunderstorms over portions of new jersey. here comes the cool front by four william showers and they will linger into early sunday morning. notice how the clouds try to erode. i think we'll get some sunshine back by sunday afternoon just a few lingering wraparound showers. so, for the rest of tonight still some locally heavy showers and storms maybe an additional inch or so in spots. watch for flooded roads well 32 toy clear it out early south on this you'll be able to salvage a little outdoor time. natasha back to you. >> thank you. the storm did pack plenty of high winds enough to bring this tree down on hatfield street in southwest philadelphia. luckily no one was hurt but the road was shut down while crews dealt with that mess.

and thousands more or in the dark tonight because of the storms. right now atlantic city electric has 31,000 outages. peco is reporting nearly 16,000. and pse&g has 7,000 customers in the dark tonight. the severe weather, it is causing more and more frustration for families still trying to recover from this week's damaging storms. "eyewitness news" reporter steve patterson is in gloucester county with more. >> reporter: in the middle of a saturday rainstorm cleanup kept up from a wednesday wind storm. in gloucester county the only noise deep enough to cut through sheets of rain hitting the ground is this. hard earned money burning away with a low hum. it's day four here without power. >> like cabin fever right now. >> reporter: retired residents carl nagler has been hold up in his own home since the storm hit. he's learning just how different the world off the grid.

>> i haven't heard television, i haven't heard radio so we don't really know what's going on on the outside world here owner for the paper that just started coming four at a time. >> reporter: he's not alone. south jersey outage estimates remain in the tens of thousands. whole communities like large swaths of mickleton and east greenwich in the dark for days. >> we haven't seen anything like this in this town for quite some time. >> reporter: without power of their own neighbor mark hendrix and his son jack helped a neighbor. one of dozens of homes on their street that had tree damage. tough for mark, incomprehensible for jack. >> four to five days. how has that been. >> not good. >> it was like thousands of rocking the wall. >> reporter: neighbor to a 200-year-old oak tree until the tree came over uninvite. >> i couldn't believe that tree came down but, you know, it's life. it happens. >> reporter: well thankfully

the family here has power it came back on last night, one of the few places that does in this area. meanwhile, though they've been trying to locate or find tree company that will help them clean this mess up but they told me with so many they have the companies in this area are so busy because the damage remains so widespread. reporting from mickleton steve patterson, cbs3 "eyewitness news." >> authorities believe they're closing in on the second escaped killer still on the run in upstate new york. officers are searching for david sweat in a heavily wooded area in malone, franklin county near the canadian border. that's where fellow escapee richard matt was shot to death by officers yesterday. residents are very concerned for their safety as this manhunt intensifies. >> we never lock our doors or windows. now we kind of have to because you don't know where he's going to be. >> i'm glad one is down i hope they get the other one very soon. >> the manhunt is happening about 30 miles west of the

prison that the pair escaped from in clinton county three weeks ago. also in camden, police are looking for a killer tonight. two people were shot shortly before 5:00 this morning near the 1400 block of rose street. the victims were rushed to the hospital. 31-year-old jevon boyd died of his injuries. the other victim is expected to survive. police have not named any suspects just yet and anyone with information should call camden police right away. a woman is out of jail after taking matters into her own hands today amid calls for south carolina to remove the confederate flag from the capitol grounds, she climbed up a 30-foot flag pole and took it down herself. cbs news correspondent wendy gillette has details. >> ma'am, ma'am. >> get off the pole. >> reporter: bree newsome ignored police orders early saturday and kept climbing a 30-foot flag noelle front of the south carolina statehouse. the 30-year-old from charlotte reached the top and unhooked

the confederate flag. >> oppression and violence. >> reporter: then she climbed down with the flag. >> i'm coming down. i'm prepared to be arrested. >> reporter: as soon as she reached the ground she was arrested along with a man helping her charles tyson. both were charged with defacing a monument. about 45 minutes later a new confederate flag was raised once again flying in front of the statehouse. the controversy over the flag ignited last week following the massacre of nine people attending a bible study at a charleston church. south carolina's governor has called for the flag to be removed from the statehouse. >> ♪ >> reporter: on saturday, three more funerals were held in the same church where the victims were killed. the first was for 54-year-old cynthia herd, a long time librarian in the city who was remembered as a tireless public servant. 87-year-old susie jackson and

26-year-old tywanza sanders williams laid to rest. wendy gillette for cbs3 "eyewitness news." >> back here at home dozens marched in memory of the charleston church massacre victims. alexandria hoff has that part of the story. >> can you see the pattern. >> reporter: sadness and anger brought dozens out to the corner of broad and erie. emotions prof soaked by the racially fueled killing of nine church members in charleston. >> we have to allow this space for people to deal with their feelings in a progressive way. >> reporter: titled the philly charleston solidarity march the event focused on highlighting injustice and combating racism. >> and unless we are willing to fight for what we want then we don't truly want it at all. >> reporter: from there participants took their message to broad street which was shut down for nearly the entire afternoon for a parade of people led by photos of the charleston line. >> i'm standing in solidarity with the families and the victims of charleston nine.

>> back now on "eyewitness news" with an inferno at a water park in taiwan. the fire started on a music stage. it quickly spread into the crowd of a thousand. more than 200 people were injured. 83 seriously. many of the wounded were rushed out of the park on inner tubes. investigators say the fire started with an explosion. also a montana family had quite the close encounter when some bears decided they wanted to hitch a ride with them. a grizzly latched onto the families car just outside of cook city. the driver david peters actually jumped out of the car to take pictures. >> tried to plan which way is he going. five seconds of inattention that was -- that was really not good. that could have been a disaster if that bear had can come straight for me instead of going to the front of the

vehicle like he did. >> scary peters says the bears were not aggressive just a little curious. his kids were in the car with him at the time end says they were more excited than scared. now the work it does couldn't to get momma duck back in action for philadelphia's tall ships festival and this is a tall task certainly. "eyewitness news" was along the philadelphia-camden waterfront today as crews continued to reinflate her after fixing a tear. thursday she had to be pulled to shore after she somehow got damaged. momma duck weighs in at 11 tons and measures a whopping 61 feet tall. today kicked off the annual welcome america festival in philadelphia. the shops at liberty place hosted family day. young people enjoyed activities celebrating the 150th anniversary of the first reading of alice in wonder land. they let their creativity shine with tons of arts and

here's the cold front. a line of storms developed over central portions of pennsylvania. the warm front is lifting north into portions of coastal new england. that's where the heaviest rain is now. so we're in a little bit of a lull. you can see the heaviest rain has started to push out. we'll get a couple of hours of drying but we still have the cold front to get through the we don't expect the rain to be as heavy with that but still gusty storms even as you wake up tomorrow morning. what are we looking at right now? the one heaviest shower we have is over portions of burlington county and up into portions of northern ocean county as well heading into north jersey just lingering showers behind that. one of our flash flood warnings the one overcome land county has just been allowed to expire but we still have a few more extending through portions of atlantic county camden and gloucester counties into burlington and ocean counties as well. anywhere you see a florida warning that means flooding is ongoing, it is occurring and some very dangerous conditions are in existence out on the roads outside tonight. take a look atop blear estimates. this is from last night,.

watch how today las developed. heavy rain across portions of all of our western suburbs but tonight the worst of it has been in central and south jersey where you can see that orange and red shading from vineland right up towards toms river, that's about three to 4-inches of rain in pockets. as you can see the heavy rain really lines up with where those flash flood warnings have been issued. temperatures right now rain cooled. 65 at the airport, 60 in al town it's a cool 59 in reading. it was a cool almost springlike or fall-like day but tomorrow after the morning showers we'll have some afternoon sun. can't rule out a wraparound shower in the afternoon. going to be breezy as winds come around the back edge of that storm. monday mostly sunny with highs in the 80's. for the rest of tonight watch for rain, even a thunderstorm even overnight into the early morning hours watch for those flooded roads. we're at 69 overnight. tomorrow looks a little better. morning showers, maybe even a thunderstorm early. then some sun 81 degrees will be our high. again can't rule out a stray

church on cheltenham avenue for the second annual colorful too. the event celebrates cancer survivors and honors those who have lost their battle with the disease. i had the pleasure of beeping the mistress of ceremonies again this year and i spoke to eynon's pastor who tells us why events like this are so important. >> it is a celebration and a memorial. celebration of those who are surviving and who are survivors of various types of cancer. it's also a reminder to us of the work and research that's yet to be done because there's some forms of cancer that we just ought not be dieing from today. there are things that we can know and do to change that. >> the day was filled with motivational speakers and healthcare professionals teaching the importance of living a hea

then flips. in the 76th minute maurice adieu with a goal. the game ends in a two-two draw. now the flyers meantime finishing up rounds two through seven of the draft today. selected four forward and three goalies. they announced they hired tim biloba as their goalie coach. they announced a major trade. the flyers traded nick grossman and chris pronger's contract to arizona for forward sam gagne and a draft pick. the flyers clear out some major cap space here with this deal. if they keep gagne they'll save about $5 million. if they buy him out, which is the rumor, they can save almost $8 million. gagne is 25 years old scored 15 goals had 26 assists last season for arizona. now to the sixers with draft night on thursday, today they introduced their newest players to philadelphia. here they are. jahlil okafor, richaun homes
