storm scan three shows us mother nature is in the done with us just yet. a funnel included touchdown in the lehigh valley national weather service plans to check out damage after that warm weather knock out power to hundreds of customers. a serious crash on the schuylkill expressway when a car slams into a wall and burst into flames. it is wednesday, first day of july, good morning i'm ukee washington. i'm erika von tiehl. those nasty storms still impacting your nasty commute katie and vittoria has more. >> traffic is serious as ukee talk about that extent on the expressway weather severely

impacting and katie will break it down. >> absolutely, it is still out there. we are tracking thunderstorms rain at this point for most of our area, when we take you back out to storm scan three what i want to show you is brunt of the severe then are storm that woke you up in the last couple hours to the overnight, those are now pushing up toward new york city so severe then are storm warnings are quickly and surely going in and out of effect here. what we're left with is a vertical line up and down basically the northeast extension and down in through delaware. this is moving quickly looking at a three hour loop, it came all the way from washington d.c. to wilmington in a matter of just a couple hours and quickly retreating and you can see quickly starting to fizzle, which is good to hear. just a very short list of the storm reports lehigh valley, up toward poconos got slammed, yesterday, and we're talking my neck of the wood

here so i have family and friend giving me reports that they have. sister in law lost a couple windows because of hail. it was a miss. coplay cars were trapped in flood waters. 61 miles an hour gust in allentown and list goes on, funnel included were spotted. so that is where this national weather service survey will come into play. in the meantime still a flash flood watch posted for counties in the green until 6:00. we have flood advisory in effect right now across southeastern pa and central new jersey and we are not totally out of the woods just yet. we are going to see sun and heat up here but we have showers and then are storms in the forecast. thankfully far less coverage of the storms and far less of the severe threat as well. it is getting better, vittoria. >> thanks very much, katie. >> myself driving in the studio this morning it was pretty serious lots of slick spots and with all a of the rain wetness causing low visibility. we have to address an accident

on the schuylkill expressway. we will have tons of emergency personnel on the scene indicating severity of this incident. this is westbound on 76 as we try to make our way beyond montgomery. this accident occurred around 3:30 this morning. you can kind of see vehicle involve up ahead that earlier slammed in the guardrail and engulf in flames. as they continue to work on this incident you will notice lane blockages in and around this area. anytime we have something this serious this will take a while to clean up. we will give yourself some more time this morning. we will see if this will impact your morning rush hour commute but as of right now it is causing a slight gaper delay in this area ape lane blockage but just not volume. we will keep you covered on that for sure as we continue to talk about the vine street expressway, you will notice traveling on the vine we are still dealing with the blockage of the vine street expressway due to construction on both side between broad street and schuylkill.

you can take notice of the damp slickness on the road itself. definitely a very serious and dangerous, traffic morning in regard to the weather. best thing is to just take it easy erika. more on the accident that fiery accident on the schuylkill expressway. >> and just moment ago we have learn there are fatalities. "eyewitness news" reporter justin finch is near the scene right now justin. >> reporter: ukee and erika good morning. we're on the montgomery drive side approaching schuylkill ease wound. we saw the the wreck early. it was a gruesome wreck. car unrecognizable. it was a kia sedan that rolled over on its side there. accident on the far right-hand corner of the car struck a barrier there. we have learn there were two people inside that car who were killed, one person taken to a nearby hospital, and vittoria mentioned it is an intense police scene at this time. pennsylvania state police are there on the scene tending to that accident.

i can see the carries still there on the scene turn over, again traffic there appears to be restrict to about two lanes. they have one lane where it happen restrict at this time but as we have mentioned there are now two people reported dead in that crash back out here live and one person taken to the hospital. at this time traffic is moving as best as it can no major slow downs but that could change as morning continues of course and as weather continues to get more hairy out here as well. ukee and erika. >> justin finch thank you very much. later today the national weather service will investigate a reported tornado sight nothing chester county and funnel cloud in lehigh county. a few hundred people still without power in lehigh county. white hall township took the brunt of the damage from yesterday's fast moving storms. winds toppled trees and ripped off roofs of several homes. power outages made for a slow evening commute due to traffic lights that went down. one home owner tribes her

experience as that storm rolled in. >> wind were stronger so we ran down into the basement and a few seconds later heard a loud crash of the roof coming down. >> white hall township remains under a state of emergency this morning. township officials report in serious injuries as a result of the last night's storms. fire fighters in south carolina are trying to determine what started a fire at a black church. last night call came into a fire at mount zion am e church in greenlyville when thunderstorms were passing through and that means lightening could have spark it but 20 years ago the kkk burned that very same church to the ground. several other recent fires at black churches in the south are under investigation. pennsylvania is starting the fiscal year without a new budget. governor tom wolf has veto a republican version of the spending plan that boost spending by more than $1 billion without raising taxes. wolf says the budget just does not work. >> the math doesn't work, it

it is sipping right along here. even storms that popped up yesterday they were quick movers but when they hit you, boy do they hit you. >> yes. >> in a big way. >> we have downpours, we have everything but kitchen sink in that forecast yesterday and as we said in the national weather service crews out to see if we in fact had a tornado or two yesterday. we're going to have the answer later on today but definitely already a lot of impact from this particular batch of thunderstorms and the latest of which you can see starting to pull away, off to the north. we do still have lightening being reported with this but most of those strikes, they are now moving into new york state and new york city and long island. we have showers left but there is a distinct back edge to this as all this lifts north. so today this is a warm front interesting how severe weather was with the warm front that is in the most typical thing but we will see humidity climb. we will see temperatures climb.

we will see some sun. are we out of the woods with the wet weather? unfortunately not. this is an unstable atmosphere, no well define storm system moving through. we will not see noticeable breaks necessarily but you will still see some sunshine today. it will be a quieter day would i say by comparison but there will be a sure or then are storm around. upper 80's. steamy day this front is stalling to the south for tomorrow and friday. so we're allowing chance for some showers especially south of the city but i would say generally it looks promising that most of us end up with sunshine and quieter weather for both thursday and friday. we will catch a break on the humidity those days too. outside palmyra cove nature park it is still raining in the city. you can make out the city indicating clouds are higher up in the atmosphere but we are seeing reduced visibility in any wet weather. seventy-one at philly international. we will give you a check on the eyewitness weather seven

here's the latest on the breaking news two people are dead following a single car accident on the westbound schuylkill expressway. we are told that vehicle will flipped ape caught fire near montgomery drive. one person was taken to the hospital in an unknown condition. several hundred residents remain without power in lehigh county following yesterday's damaging storms, state of emergency remains in effect in white hall township. no serious injuries were reported from the storms. pennsylvania governor tom wolf vetoes a republican backed version of the budget. proposal spends more than a billion dollars and does not raise taxes. wolf says the budget was full of gul innings. lets get time to business. >> money watch's jill wagner has some good news, markets rebounded a little bit despite

we will get a check on the road with vittoria, good morning. >> good morning, erika good morning everyone. as of right now we have a fatal accident that occurred on the westbound side of the schuylkill expressway, as you make your way beyond montgomery drive. you will notice, part of the cameras trying to push along here. it is stalling a bit but this is still an active scene on the westbound side of the schuylkill and compromising two lanes and two lanes of traffic are getting by on the left-hand side. as of right new due to low volume and no rush hour it is not causing too much problem but it is causing a gaper delay and anytime we see something this serious when it

involved fatalities there will be an investigation and it will be out there for quite a while. plan accordingly this morning and do keep it here to cbs-3 in philadelphia as we will let you know fit clears out of the way soon enough. moving to the 30 bypass right and 340 where we have a down tree on the westbound side. you will net is flares have been set up. we have down trees and power lines and still some areas recovering from that storm that we had quite sometime and even some that could have happened overnight. make sure you take it extra careful because this weather is something serious katie. >> it won't give us a break will it. we have seen pretty fair rain amounts to go with it up what were just clusters of then are storms short list of those rainfall totals. we pick up just shy of 1 inch total in chesterbrook. norristown just shy of three-quarters of an inch. list goes on here. a along with the heavier downpours we have had frequent lightening with this particular batch, that is new visible on storm scan three.
