this is cbs-3 "eyewitness news". another tuesday of strong storms leaves behind damage across, lehigh county, state of emergency remains in effect. damaging storms, uprooted trees, and brought down power lines, leaving thousands without power. hello, good afternoon i'm ukee washington. >> i'm pat ciarrocchi.

while we are not expecting any severe weather like yesterday we could see some rain today. meteorologist, katie fehlinger out on the "cw" three skydeck with more on what we can expect. katy? >> and guys, tell you what, really the story here is that granted our wet weather issues not necessarily over but the severe weather potential widespread coverage of the storm seams like we saw yesterday, that most certainly is, but we do still have an unstable atmosphere here to work with. so let's explain by starting off where else, storm scan3 good place to check in, when you are tracking active weather, and at the moment i wouldn't say terribly active, but see the billowing clouds, few signs of life on the radar, as well, across north and central portions of pennsylvania, some of that, what we are spec to go survive as it tries to roll little further off to the southeast with time here. soap spotty shower, thunderstorm is still in our forecast, as we struck the noon hour, also struck at least 08 degrees, going through at least millville philadelphia, at the international airport these temperatures are expected to continue their climb in the next few hours so that we

eventually end up at a pair of eight's, spotty the key word here, god shot, one of you don't see one raindrop today worth a mention since we're cleaning up from yesterday's storms and even heck, from last week ' storms at this point. meanwhile, there is a frontal boundary that will be nearby. in other words bothering us potentially for tomorrow friday, but i will become -- i will be bringing you some pretty nice weather news looks like for the upcoming holiday weekends if you want to stay around for the all-important barbequing forecast, it will be around in the show. >> thank you not clear if weather was factor in serious crash that happened on the schuylkill expressway, early this morning. three people were killed, and another is in the hospital right now. >> the crash happened in the westbound lanes of the schuylkill about 2:30 this morning, near montgomery drive. police are telling us that the driver of a kia lost control and hit a concrete barrier. and then that car rolled over, and burst into flames. the name of the victims and names.

victims have not been released. the driver of tractor-trailer suffered only minor injuries, when this truck overturned, on the ramp from the new jersey turnpike, to westbound i195 in robinsville, mercer county t caused some issues for the morning commute as all traffic was diverted to i195 east. the state police investigation is over the highway right now. >> the fbi leading the investigation into a recent string of fires at predominantly black churches in the nation's south. fire destroyed mint sigh on ame church in south carolina last night. it became the seventh black church to burn, since the charleston church shootings two weeks ago. authorities say this fire does not appear to be the work after arsonist. the coincidence left one pastor uneasy. >> i went to bed sleeping at a white pastor's home, which is unique, out here, and then i get a text this morning that this ame church has burned down.

my first thought is i don't believe god is striking down black churches by lightning or every electrical problem is right now just happening. i believe we have to look at this in a very suspicious way. >> so far there is no indication, we're told, the string of fires are related. >> pennsylvania democratic governor tom wolf is inviting legislative leaders to meet in his office today. a day after the governor vetoed a state budget, pushed through by republican lawmakers, governor wolf wants to restart negotiations, the republican budget includes plans to privatize state stores, and pension benefits. full state budget vetoed in decades. >> us stocks opened hire on deal that deal could be reached between greece and it creditors, the greek government appears to be caving in to demands in a desperate attempt to get more

international aid. large crowds formed at greek banks this morning as depositors struck told get their cash out. greece is the first developed country to de fought on international loans, and there are fears that greek banks could collapse before a solution is reached. european finance ministers meet today to way the latest on the proposal. >> the united states makes historic step forward in diplomatic relation was cuba. have agreed to open embasy their cities. craig boswell at the white house president obama just made the announcement. >> the us will be sending an ambassador to cuba for the first time since 1961, two years after fidel castro's revolution. >> you can't hold the future of cuba hostage to what happened in the past. that's what this is about, choice between the future and the past. >> to re-establish embasies following surprise announcement in december, that secret talks had led to an agreement to restore diplomatic relations.

>> this is a historic step forward in our effort to normalize relations with the cuban government and people. >> there are still some challenges between the two countries that need to be negotiated. the cubans want trade embargos lifted and president obama has acknowledged that sanctions haven't worked. the us wants to talk about cuba's human rights violations top for american properties seize in the havana and us fugitives taking refuge on the islands. >> nobody expect cuba to be transformed overnight, but i believe that american engagement to our embassy, our businesses and most of all to our people is the best way to advance our interest in support for democracy and human right. florida senator gop marco rubio, says until those concerns are adds dressed he'll block the confirmation of any us ambassador to cuba. craig boswell cbs-3 "eyewitness news". >> well, it was a fantastic night for the us women as they advance to the world cup finals, they beat germany two-nothing, and their defense has been amazing.

a big moment. she scores on the penalty kick here, to give the us a one-nothing lead. it was her third goal in six matches, she also assisted on the us second goal. lloyd joins cbs this morning and said, that she told all her family to stay home. >> kind of told my fiancee brian, to stay home, and nobody else is coming, nobody will be at the final. i told them that, you know, this is the most important thing to me, i need to focus and i would rather come home with hardware and not have them in the stands than vice versa. so they all understanded. they are all on board. and just got one moran then i can do all of the celebrating i want with them at home. >> that's the plan. yes indeed. us women will take on the winner of glands and japan who play later tonight. >> do you think they'll have a big party at the delran house where she from. >> yes indeed. i'm just hoping no let downs just go in, do their thing and win. to beat the number one team, oh the energy is all gone, come on, they can do it, ladies? ladies, you can do it.

neighborhood network going next to another camera here, outside kutztown area middle school, lush green grass, from so much rain that we've had as of late. you can see some of the puffy clouds beginning to bubble up. and here is why. on storm scan, we showed this to you earlier in the show, the clouds starting to bill owe in here, a larger system, really, all of the heavy thunderstorms that might have woken you up in the overnight well off to the north eventually we see cold front move on through relatively weak front bring with it shower or thunderstorm later today. now watch what happens off to the south. this wider view on storm scan, rather future weather forecast, looking ahead to tomorrow. so there is your spotty shower, thunderstorm tonight. look ahead to tomorrow. see how the moisture starts to bubble up here off to the south? that's a stationary front. setting up. so allowing for some showers from philly on south tomorrow, and then, this is just one model's interpretation whatever goes on by friday, so, there is still a chance for shower at that point. but for now, it is looking good. beautiful beach afternoon. nice high uv index sun block
