home, his barn and mobile home that he rents out were all damaged. after inspecting this area of honey brook township the national weather service confirmed that it was a ef1 tornado with a max wind speed of 95 miles per hour. >> it is a shock. never think something like that will happen here. >> it was like sky was dark and my dad got a message on his cell saying there was a tornado spotted. >> reporter: neighbors tell me weather change dramatically in a matter of minutes. it was just after 2:00 when tornado hit and cut through a mile and a half section of the township causing damage to five properties, as the storm headed north. >> just a lot of rain and real, real dark and like i said, it was an erie feeling. >> i could not believe it. i mean when you think a tornado went through i could not believe it. >> reporter: and now neighbors say that the women who was inside this mobile home at the time say it sounded like a freight train when this tornado came through here. fortunately that woman and in

one else here in honey brook was injured. live from chester county, todd quinones for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". >> thank you so much. national weather service is investigating whether a tornado touchdown in lehigh county yesterday. chopper three over hard hit white hall township where powerful storms ripped trees out of the ground, disaster declaration was issued for that area. for more on the tornado that touched down in chester county lets go to meteorologist kate bilo live on the sky deck. kate, nice and clear right now. >> it is indeed, jessica that is best news about today even though it is warm, steamy day storms missed us to the north. raid are is clear for now. let's show you a couple stats on the confirmed tornado in chester county. here's where it was near honey brook which is due west of philadelphia in chester county. we will zoom in and you can see the area this tornado hit rated ef1 95 miles an hour wind that touched down at two will 11:00 p.m. with the path length of one and a half miles

and width damage of hundred yard. incredible that length on the ground and that path, zero confirmed injuries, with this storm. luckily within a pretty rural area as we mentioned and nobody was hurt, at least nobody we know of as of now. we are assessing the damage. national weather service is looking at lehigh county to see if another tornado touchdown there in addition to the severe weather very wet day yesterday bringing our june total to 8.88 inches crazy eight's, very wet june, more than 5-inch's above normal for the month. now we're in july and things are quiet. you can see on storm scan three nothing happening on the radar picture. you have to zoom up in new york state and into southern new england where spots have had tornado warnings, today severe weather we had yesterday impacting them today. we are in the quiet phase at least for now. we don't expect any showers or storms this afternoon or this evening, it is tomorrow we will keep an eye on areas south and east.

lost control and hit a concrete barrier on the westbound side near montgomery drive, three people died in that crash. a fourth person remains hospitalized. police have have yet to released victim's identity. driver of the tractor trailer suffer only minor injuries when this truck overturn on the ramp on the new jersey turnpike to westbound i195 in robbinsville mercer county. it did cause issues for morning commute as traffic had to be divert todd i195 east, state police investigation is over now and highway is back opened. septa is on pace to meet a federal deadline to improve rail safety and today agency demonstrated it positive train control system as a system officials say could have prevented the deadly amtrak derailment. safety technology is absolutely imperative and today septa gave us a glimpse into what that is going to look like. it is called positive train control are or ptc and simple concept that a train goes too fast, it is automatically stopped, a septa officials explains. >> 13 miles an hour, 12 is allowed, engineer is way over it and it shut us down. >> reporter: technology we saw first hannan board a septa test track in frazier chester county. we saw what would happen if the train went in the curve too fast with the speed limit in place. >> basically decide ago this we were going to have a problem and so it gave some alerts and then shut the train down. >> reporter: this septa train stops, amtrak train 188 didn't. back in may that train went too fast in the curve and derailed ultimately killing eight people. positive train control technology wasn't installed and consequences were deadly. >> i don't believe congress

new jersey. you will see rescue crews are searching for a missing swimmer. we have a lot of activity on the shoreline. we know man marine and dive units are on the scene abe in the water. details are still coming in. we will have more information as it becomes available to us. the search is on for gang of thieves caught on camera robbing a pizza delivery man in center city. surveillance video shows victim being followed by six men near eighth and lombard. this happened june 19th. he was later knock to the ground and beaten by those suspects. they took victim's food and then ran toward eighth and south, that victim suffered cuts and bruises. police also searching for two gunman who robbed a 7-eleven store on the 5,000 block of frankford avenue in the northeast. they forced one employee in the storage area on monday another employee was forced to lay on the ground. they took money cigarettes, and then fled through the parking lot. last night pennsylvania governor tom wolf vetoed a republican back $30.2 billion

budget bill. this leaves the state without a budget at the start of the new fiscal year. "eyewitness news". state department officials say u.s. and cuba agreed to further talks about fugitives law enforcement and property claims. another predominantly black church burns in the south, fire ripped through mount size on ame church in south carolina last night. this is seventh black church to burn since charleston church shooting two weeks ago. authorities say this fire does not appear to be work of the arsonist but it still brings up painful memories for long time residents. >> the ride up there last night to see the church in flame, again because it gives you a ill feeling. >> two members of the klu klux klan pleaded guilty to torching that church 20 years ago. right now authorities say there is no indication that this recent string of church fires are related. greece's government is now signaling it may be willing to accept terms of a new bail out package. german prime minister says there would be no talks on the issue until a referendum scheduled sunday.

charities is in in need of help. their food pant try is running low and "eyewitness news" anchor ukee washington explains what can be done from the organization is called, bebashi it gives a week worth of food to as many needy people as we can but as we found out the demand is out stripping supply. >> right now i will just back a bag. >> reporter: dominic is doing one of her hardest jobs, rationing food, putting together a bag of groceries for a kline of bebashi food pant try on spring gander street. >> this is a last resort for a lot of them. >> reporter: ernest wilson is one of 500 people who get food from bebashi. >> this will help carry me through. i'm not sitting in the house with the empty stomach. >> reporter: many days this pantry does not have enough food to go around. >> you know, when i look around and hear my voice i hear my echo, empty shelves why. >> we cannot keep food on the shelves because people are coming in every day for food.

>> reporter: canned veggies the freezers run low quickly but there is not a place to distribute the pantry must close. volunteers sophia, says that is hard news to deliver to clients who are only about to get food from bebashi once a month. >> they are just really like, almost desperate for help, they are low income, they don't have have many resources, they do need us. >> reporter: bebashi executive director gary bell said they would love to be opened every day but several days between new shipments of food. >> we don't get a lot of donations either. we have to raise money to acquire food. >> reporter: money helps pay for discounted food from philabundance, bebashi hopes to bring in more non-perishables, cans of veggies, meat, bread fruits. they say as fast as those foods come in, it goes out. >> i can promise you it will get used and go home to somebody. >> reporter: monetary donations go to purchase food. donations can be dropped off right on site. to contact the food pantry, go

it is now officials, the national weather service say a tornado tore through chester county, this photo shows a funnel cloud in the area have of that confirmed tornado. good evening to you i'm jessica dean. officials confirmed that the twister touched down during yesterday's severe weather. "eyewitness news" reporter todd quinones is in hard hit honey brook where clean up is still underway tonight todd. >> reporter: and jessica pieces of this tin roof from a nearby barn can be seen, throughout this entire neighborhood. we have been seeing a lot of this pockets and clusters of trees that have been snapped in two and up rooted. the national weather service confirms it was an ef1 tornado that tore through chester county, force of the wind speeds that hit as high as 95 miles an hour lifted up this mobile home and moved it several feet away from the steps. woman who lives here was

inside at the time. >> she said it sounded like a freight train coming at her so she just stayed in place. she didn't want to go outside. then she experienced a trailer, rock and being pick up and moved. >> reporter: dave mcillhenie's home and his barn and mobile home he rent out were all hit hard by the tornado. he says his tenant was trapped inside after the wind blew through. >> so local fire company was able to come and help and assist ter getting out. >> reporter: it is lucky the woman was not her. >> i seen a lady sitting in the car because she has copd and could hardly breathe. she was a nervous wreck. >> reporter: just down the road two barns owned by an amish family had part of the roofs blown off. neighbors came by volunteering their time to rip the rest of the roofs off and help build new ones. >> i'm's glad the lord took care of us and our neighbors are fine too. >> reporter: neighbors say weather change in a matter of minutes.
