lancaster count very rapidly at 50 miles an hour. that is back to the west we have another secondary push behind it. so that could impact us, possibly in the severe but another round of showers and storms after the first line goes through tonight. that is something we will be watching. let's zoom in on this area of thunderstorms just east of harrisburg right now calling attention to the shape of this line. you can see that hook and as we track it out we will see these storms continuing to move very quickly into lancaster county, berks county and eventually chester county here within the next half an hour to an hour. moving at 50 miles an hour but covering ground. that hook shape what does it mean? it means winds rushing out from the center of that line. that means a very clear indication have of straight line wind damage is possible as well as all that lightening and torrential downpours to slow you down on the turnpike and any of the roadways across our area number of watches and warnings have been issued with this area of storms. that severe then are storm warning for lancaster count that i does include lancaster oakwood, and up to the north as well and york county to the

west. we do expect these severe then are storm warning to follow that line. as line moves east, the the warnings will move east as well and eventually this will get in the city. the entire region is under a severe thunderstorm watch until 11:00 p.m. remember the difference between a warning and watch. warning means it is happening right now. watch means conditions are favorable for severe storms to happen and that includes our entire area, even shore points, all except southern delaware. lancaster county is under a tornado watch issued off the to the west. that area is under a watch as storms head that way. timing it out north and west lehigh valley between now and 8:00 p.m. is when we see stronger storms move through. philadelphia and a nearby suburbs seven to 9:00 p.m. hopefully most people are done with the evening commute and can stay inside because with the heavily wooded area in our near north and western suburbs you war which wind damage, trees can come down and block roadways tree branches if you get wind over 60 miles an hour. coastal new jersey and delaware between 9:00 and

10:00. we will see this move off the coast. tracking it out 7:00 p.m. north and western suburbs perhaps getting a head in delaware and south jersey. here is 8:00 p.m. thinks worst around city and suburbs, main line, montgomery county, bucks county and delco and portions of new castle county delaware. by 9:00 we will see it down the shore a squall line there. 10:00 o'clock moves off shore and by 11:00 by the time we go on the air things will be winding down and we won't have too much in the way of damage reports to bring to you. what to expect this evening. again, strong to severe storms downpours, blinding downpours on the road, damage wind possible and never rule out isolated tornado with warm front draped over the region. while that risk is low do want to mention it and threat for small hail. we will have more what happens once it moves out. you'll like forecast for weekend better than forecast for tonight guess contact. kate thank you. track storms in your neighborhood by down loading the cbs philly weather app

great tool for nights like these. you can get forecast, check live radar anytime that app is available for freon google play and itunes. a serious accident in new castle delaware causes delays on route 273 chopper three over that scene near intersection of the 273 and route one. this accident involved a box truck which overturned and mercedes benz. in word on injuries right now but we know three people were removed from vehicles. "eyewitness news" has exclusive video of smoke fire erupting from a manhole at philadelphia's olde city neighborhood. some were evacuated as crews worked to get things back to normal today. "eyewitness news" reporter syma chowdhry is live with more on what went wrong here, syma. >> reporter: jessica, problems stem from an underground fire, the official cause of that is still under investigation, but thee he affects was clear residents and businesses were scrambling after power outages, caused many issues in this area our cameras were only ones rolling when smoke

shot up from that manhole causing a pretty scary scene. >> time to backup. >> reporter: smoke shoots out of the manhole on the streets of the olde city, a scene you will only see on "eyewitness news". transformer reportedly blew up underground near walnut and second street around 10:30 thursday morning. >> i'm he in the sure we will get lunch today. >> reporter: workers at city tavern got a firsthand look at the chaos caused from the underground tavern. >> really, really black smoke coming out i mean strong. >> reporter: several buildings were evacuated and this building had smoke in it. police, fire fighters and peco crews were on the scene. several streets were closed and as many as 100 customers were without power. stylists at this salon near second and chestnut street quickly figured out a plan b when their power went out. >> we have clients in here, we had to ask them to go home, ones whose hair was still wet

had to go down to the pizza shop, use blue course in there. >> reporter: stylist and clients made their way to this pizza shop to use their outlets. >> yeah, so pizza shop and hair salon in one today. >> reporter: whatever it takes. new about 75 percent of the customers are back with power. peco officials would not officially confirm if, in fact a transformer exploded underground but they say that crews will remain here at the scene making repairs and assessing the situation. we are live, syma chowdhry for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". >> quite a scene town there thanks very much. philadelphia police are 31 year-old keith warren suspect gunman in the shooting on hilton street in kensington. warren opened fire with a shotgun injuring seven people. "eyewitness news" obtained this video of the june between the second shooting, and warren now faces several charges including attempted murder and aggravated assault. a teenager is charged with assault after police say he

set a child on fire in west philadelphia. officer say that this happened at 60th street and hazel avenue on wednesday. seventeen year-old rafiq tingle allegedly threw hand sanitizer on that 11 year-old victim and then used a cigarette light tore set him on fire. police say the the incident started off as a joke and then it went terribly wrong. >> our victim, doesn't have a shirt on and takes a squirt bottle and started squirting him on the body telling him he is dirty. mostly left side from his chest down to the waist. the way it burns he will always have some type of skin issues from that. he will never recover totally. >> police say when they arrested the suspect they found two lighters in his pocket. police in upper darby arrested an alleged squat inner connection with monday's pay less shoe store fire. police say james morris was living in the vacant second floor of the 69th street store when this fire started. it spread quickly damaging several other businesses. morris was charged with trespassing and theft. he allegedly took metal

shelving from that business and then gave it to another man as scrap. >> there is only one person that we're looking at for anything and he is in custody. the scrapper that we got just before this news conference is an excellent witness. >> reporter: the cause of the fire remains under investigation tonight. philadelphia police have launched an investigation into a you tube video that shows officers beating a suspect touring an arrest. the we don't know what happened before the camera started to roll role on locust in east germantown april 3rd a los angeles blogger posted this video yesterday and identified suspect as 22-year old khiry carol. officers are scenery petely punching and kicking carol. he is charged with drug and assault offenses. police department says officers were injured attempting to arrest that suspect, and in a statement police say quote the officers stopped the defendant, he began to fight with the officers biting one of the officers a total of three times, thigh hand, arms.

the defendant bit another officer on the forearm during this arrest. this entire incident is being reviewed for a departmental violations. the fbi has revealed multiple terrorist attacks were stopped over the july 4th holiday. >> i have hundreds of these investigations in every single state, and we have disrupted just in the last few weeks very serious efforts to kill people in the united states. >> fbi director comey could not give specific details but he did say american lives were saved. in the last month the fbi has arrested more than ten people allegedly inspired by isis's on line recruiting. a little bit of sizzle down the shore tonight and we're there for it, vittoria. >> jessica, with so many great barbecue vendors that are here in north wildwood this weekend for 17th annual barbecue championship you are probably wondering, how do you pick the best ribs. we will have, the answer to that, in a little bit kate?

very dark skies. that is a system that is moving through the area. take a look at storm scan three you can see it is getting closer and closer to our area those storms are on their way and kate bilo will update the forecast and timing in just about five minutes. at the new jersey shore population of black sea bass has dwindled and that is hurting business among charter fisherman but the fish are doing something unusual to combat the population problem. "eyewitness news" reporter cleve bryan explains. >> unaudible. >> reporter: camden joel milk gets ready for a trip out of atlantic city, he gives customer fair warning. they will have have fun but not to much bring home for dinner. >> this is worst lull we have ever had to put up with, two fish. >> reporter: he is referring to black sea bass, daily limit per person this july and they have to be 12 and a half inches long, tall order foresee see bass living close to shore. >> even when you air loud to catch them you have to throw back 90 percent of what you are catching.

>> reporter: experts say government regulators had trouble getting an accurate pictures of the black sea bass population so limits keep getting stricter. they are worried about the number of males but interesting thing about this species is lady fish can become men fish. >> yeah, we believe that this is mostly an evolutionary medic is in will where those individuals that change sex do so typically because there is some advantage. >> reporter: researcher ol af jenson says gender changes species of fish are not that rare but with black sea bass it happens in the fall after the male population has been caught. in other words if there are not enough guy fish to mate mate wish, the girls start changing. >> what our research shows those males removed are partially being replaced by females undergoing sex change. i think that the regulations should be able to open up a bit. >> reporter: sea bass fishing is a big part of the summer charter industry at the new jersey shore but unfortunately

because these storms are firing up and they are moving towards us very quickly at 45 to 50 miles an hour. you can see complex of heavy rain. what i'm looking at here overly high valley and poconos, biggest threat will be the heavy downpours. this is the line that i'm more concern about as far as strong damaging wind, although you could get strong wind as well but notice how this line has taken on that bow echo shape moving through lancaster county heavier rain around 81 and with to push into lehigh, northampton counties. frequent light he can around lancaster area, as crow flies that is about 07 miles or so from philadelphia, that will bring storms to the city, in the next hour an a half to two hours or so. track them out. they are moving now at 45 miles an hour to the east. reading 6:34. and, norristown in, to montgomery county, by 7:15 tonight. that area under a severe thunderstorm warning. those warnings will probably follow this line of the storms

and that they have done. reading, pottstown west vincent, down towards birmingham chester county under a severe thunderstorm warning. rest of the area under a severe thunderstorm watch severe storm could happen in this yellow shading right through tonight. timing wise we are talking between 6:00 and 8:00 to the north and west, that is new through 8:00 p.m. philadelphia and nearby suburbs seven to 9:00 and nine to 10:00 across south jersey. eight and 9:00. notice these cells with that hook shape that does have me concerns for damaging wind through the rest of the evening. damaging wind possible, small hail and isolated tornado or storm threats. downpours and win. very high. lightening is maryland rate. hail threat is low. tornado threat low as well. lets see if we can get out that seven day forecast. we are talking about these storms popping up, through the rest of the afternoon, they are talking about getting heating of the day when we will start to see these storms pop up and little trouble with the seven day forecast. we will put it upright now.
