a school ripped apart is damaging storms sweep across pennsylvania, new jersey, and delaware. the destruction was widespread. good afternoon everyone i'm erika von tiehl. is there a big clean up job ahead for people living in several communities and yesterday's big storm left behind a lot of damage. check this out, one area hit

hard was new castle and new castle county, delaware. right now national weather service personnel are determining if a tornado was there. cbs-3 "eyewitness news" reporter jan carabao shows us the extent of the damage. >> new castle mobile home village and apartment turned upside down friday morning. after a strong storm rolled through, and left destruction in its wake. >> it only lasted like two minutes, so it was crazy. >> everything is destroyed carries destroyed, you know, our roofies on top of their trailer. >> reporter: the howard's and five families in neighboring apartments here of to find somewhere else to stay, high wind ripped the roof right off of their homes. >> it happened in a few minutes. we cannot go back in. >> reporter: storm damage was the spotted all over new castle will near new castle and ryan avenues many power lines, left limp, others with debris, caught in between. still del marva power work around the clock replacing

broken utility poles and restoring power to hundreds of customers. flying objects caused a lot of damage. the as this storm moved through it blew blue debris all around, some smashing this cars window and even moved this trailer home off of its foundation and on to its front steps. >> all have of a sudden all of the light bulbs were busted and then, i ran outside to check on my car. >> reporter: it turned out her neighbor's motorcycle blown into her car from three spots away. >> by that evening it was in the top of their car. >> reporter: string of bad luck and the hits just keep coming. dino says thinks all he has left. in new castle will delaware, jan carabao for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". another area hit by yesterday's storms, berks county chopper three their life right now over severely damaged blue mountain academy. wind there tore the roof off the will school. you can see inside there school's principal was inside but was able to escape unharm but so much damage, into the

inside of the classrooms. national weather experts are checking to see if this was a tornado, as well. well, more damage in the city of philadelphia, surveillance video here check it out, do you see that a huge tree comes crashing on to a car. neighbors say that tree had been on the street for decade. it also rested against the house, now fortunately there were no injuries but here, like so many other places in the region, so much cleaning up to do. and also this storms led to power outages in the region. right now peco reports more than 1100 outages, del marva 600, ppl about 200 and pse&g reports more than 100 outages. but katie at least we are getting a break today calmer, cooler and a whisper of the breeze too katie is outside. how does it feel. >> so much more comfortable that is the thing here. temperatures have definitely, have have had a little bit of the hit a against them here as cooler air comes from the north and west but more than anything it is just how dry it feels. this is a great air day.

modest breeze isn't enough to throw your had hair out of whack but we have full sunshine here. barely a cloud in the sky. the just beautiful. lets go out to storm scan three which at the moment is not showing any storms. hint of ground clutter nothing more as tri-state sweep is made. we can see what has gone on here out to sea you still got retreat of the cloud cover and, earlier this morning certainly still have a lot of left over heavy rain but it had has all been long since pulled away from the area, high pressure has taken its place and we are left with just comfort light breeze, out of the northwest temperatures flirting with 80 at the shore and here in philadelphia, it really does feel phenomenal outside. we should tack on another 8 degrees for those daytime highs, resort towns are talking low to mid 80's at best but everybody gets in on that sunshine and i have good news for your weekend. if you have plans to be outside you pick a good one warmth, low humidity, sunshine, those are the keys here and that is your story

about, you know, history and know that it happened but there is another thing to live in the moment. >> reporter: flag now heads to the museum, flagpole will also be eventually removed but there is no time line when that will happen. debate over the flag, kicked into high gear last month when a gunman seen posing with the confederate flag killed nine black parishioners at a church in charleston. south carolina governor nicki haley used nine pens which signing the bill ordering the flag's removal. >> nine amazing people, that forever changed south carolina's history. >> reporter: many of the south carolina hope friday's flag removal will be a unifying moment for the state that will bring people of all races closer together. don champion for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". a big celebration is underway in new york city for team u.s.a. u.s. women's soccer team is being honored with a parade down the canyon of champions.

"eyewitness news" reporter alexandria hoff is at that historic event. >> reporter: i was reading on social media some people wanted this parade down route 130 and delran but i think new york city has been a pretty good host. >> u.s.a., u.s.a. >> reporter: for the first time in the history a woman's sports team, none of which are new york natives have joined the likes of charles limbberg and apollo 11 astronauts behind the canyon of heroes. things are just wrapping up now but this a has drawn hundreds of thousands toss lower manhattan to watch the the procession down broadway. we met people from all different countries but philadelphia and south jersey is truly represented here to cheer on our girl, carli lloyd. >> she has become such a role model because of the way she plays sports and the energy and confidence that she gives girls it is great powerful. >> love our country love soccer love everything. >> reporter: we will have a full wrap up at tonight but reporting from the u.s.

without being injured. they just barely escaped that back draft in arkansas. the back draft and explosion blew you insulation from the attic of the home all the way in the street. that is the white stuff the insulation. a mom and toddler were treated for smoke inhalation but they are expected to be okay. meanwhile chaos for travelers trying to leave the popular resort island of bali, a volcano forced four air ports to close this indonesia. that spewed hot ash almost daily for the the last week. more than 10,000 villagers live in that a area that volcano was dormant for 400 years until 2010. zoo keepers are keeping a close eye on a monkey sleeping in the storm drain of all places after she escaped from her home at the zoo. they called this little monkey zen, there she is, cameras show the three-year old's a step ahead offhanded letters and could not catch her. experts do in the know how she got out of the enclosure but they moved visitors from that

>> oh, go on. >> i love giving you forecast like this with the timing like this whole weekend looks phenomenal and eventually we will have to deal with wet weather but we will get a well deserved break if you ask me. >> yes. >> exactly. >> i do want to take you back in time and look at wind damage reports. this is far from a full list but it does give you a sense of what went on yesterday with that solid line of thunderstorms that came through not only did they bring very, very heavy downpours but we have had numerous reports of roof damage, trees down, wires down new castle delaware a couple buildings partially collapsed. and then we reported earlier a roof was blown off of a school. they are out weather service folks doing surveying to see what the damage looks like so they can make a final judgment as to what actually happened here. that is how the process works. in the meantime storm scan three we have high pressure on our side. it is a phenomenal day. if you have not stepped out take a breath of fresh air. we can do that literally and

figuratively with the weather pattern here just so quiet. this little disturbance looks like it is making a a beeline to the delaware will valley. we will look a head to future weather and take new into tonight and tomorrow morning. it looks like it will come right through delaware but at the last second we think it will make a curve off to the the south east here. so unless you are down in through maybe some of the maryland beaches perhaps that is where your travels take you this weekend you should be in the clear and everybody has got nice weather to look ahead here to tomorrow. sunday also looking good, atmosphere starts to moisten up a bit but humidity still should not that be bad for us on sunday evening and then in the meantime these dew points are nice and low. do you remember bench mark? 65 degrees to start to be noticeably humid. everybody at the shore point is now below. that we are at the 58 degrees for dew points specifically in philadelphia. at international airport. such a great hair day. i say that when we have these dew points because we don't to have deal with the frizzy factor or fact that makes your
