big smile from jordan. as he was walking through the crowd, he was high-five agriculture -- high-fiving everybody. relaxed. something tells me tom gillis does not feel the same way. ian: he's already got that spot for the open championship next week. jordan already exempt, obviously, looking for his third major in a row. but tom should be proud of himself the way he's played this week. he'll be disappointed that he didn't birdie 17. bill: his last 18 starts, eight top five finishes, including the masters and the u.s. open. ian: and he just looks so relaxed and comfortable. >> congratulations.

absurdly nicely, yeah. just looks extremely quick. he's had three of those jumpers already. ian: advantage tom gillis, even though he's 15 yards farther away he's in the fairway. he can control the flight of his ball from the fairway so much better. matt: a perfect 209 yards all the way back to that hole location. we had 222 and we -- yeah, we probably hit it about 200 about 12 short. 210.
6:13 pm
matt: well, he has pulled a 4-iron. going right at a 210-yard shot. ian: should be a perfect number for him. matt: it starts off right trying to draw but more in line with where he ended up in regulation. ian: and a good 50 feet short. just didn't want to let it go. water to the left. kind of easy to do. david: jordan has pulled 6-iron here. 192 yards. that's about right. if it doesn't jump. keeping it left of the oak tree here. >> same shot we just hit. >> yeah, exactly.

ian: when he did win here, he wasn't even a member of the tour and now he's perhaps just one more win away next week of being number one in the world currently number two in the world behind rory. if he would win next week, he would jump to number one. just an incredible two years for this still-21-year-old. david: it's an indication of just how good rory mcilroy is if you can play as well as jordan spieth has and not be number one. ian: true. we wish rory well with his injury. we hope to see him at the open championship. matt: he's on the green but it's still about 55, 60 feet. goes down the hill and cruises to the left, so it's -- you know you don't expect to make this. but it's not out of the realm of

thanks to met life for today's unique perspective tps deere run from above. the met life client group invites you to see their unique perspective. and that is where tom gillis ended up off the tee. well to the right. matt: the good news is that behind the ball, there's not a whole lot of grass there. bad news is he's going to have to decide if he's going to shoot it through the trees or just pitch it out and try to get up and down in four. bill: what do you like here ian? ian: with water all the way up the side, it would be silly to try to cut it over the water. he's got to decide between going through the trees like danny lee did, but i would prefer he laid it up. it's hard from where jordan is to expect a three.
6:28 pm
it's still a 6-or 7-iron for the green. matt: i've got a 198 gillis. he's going to have to play first and show the cards. ian: i was surprised to see tom's ball as far up as that. it normally lands into the people there and doesn't get any roll. matt: i think he's pulling out a 5-iron which means he's going to try to hit it through the trees and hit it low.
6:29 pm
ian: low punch 5-iron, little back in the stance, try not to let it turn over too much. matt: it's allow but it's headed toward the water. we've seen this over the years. it's going to make it to the hazard. ian: it grabs the hosel and turns the face over. that's why i like the pitching out. that was a tough shot. bill: he's explaining how thick that rough was. and now green light for jordan. ian: yeah. middle of the green. david: he has 6-iron. beg your pardon. he has 7-iron.
6:30 pm
it's 197 yards. ian: he can go at it hard and release its with seven. david: that would work. ian: smart play, david. bill: that really forces tom gillis to hit a miracle shot. david: that was a big boy shot there from jordan, too. he just took the right back bunker out of play there with that. bill: we talk about his golfing skills but he just thinks his way around the course just so effectively, which is surprising for a guy just 21 years old. ian: i agree. and david he looks relaxed and confident just like he belongs in this position. david: he has the most perfect attitude i think i've ever seen.
