"eyewitness news" obtain the video that shows michael nutter and security detail being confronted by a man and how the mayor helped subdue him. todd quinones has this exclusive story tonight. >> reporter: confrontation begins with what poop appears to

be homeless man yelling at the mayor. things get heated, he then confronts an officer guarding the mayor and then pulls the officer down on the ground. things don't end there. mayor michael nutter was with some of his staffers and other city officials here at concourse of the municipal services building directly across the street from city hall. the mayor spokesperson tells me they were talking about issues related to the concourse a place where the homeless tend to congregate. the mayor phil physically gets involved helping pull the man off the officer on security detail and then he tries to calm the man down. >> stop it! stop! >> the amateur video was shot by eyewitness monday afternoon he happened to be recording people skateboarding he heard a man cursing at the mayor and he kept rolling as mayor nutter got face to face with the man to try to diffuse the altercation. then about 20 seconds after it all started philadelphia police officer let gov the man's throat and after cooling off the man then walks away and he wasn't

arrested or charged. >> and the mayor and police officer both were not hurt and tonight we went back down to that concourse there to try and talk with that unidentified man but both he and some other people who were under the steps appeared to be inn company hernia. reporting live tonight in the sat center todd quinones cbs3 "eyewitness news". >> i talk with the mayor tonight and he told me it was no big issue no needing to on camera and to talk about it. did he tell me this person came into this face and started shouting obscenities and the mayor felt he was not in his right mind he did his best as you saw to calm him down. frightening situation. this person could have been armed. but once again everyone is okay tonight. >> best out come for the situation. >> no question about it. >> no one was hurt. >> let's turn to the weather right now it's warm and muggy across the region and the heat could be firing up some storms over the next couple of days. meteorologist kate bilo joins us now in the sky deck tracking the timing of these storms. kate? >> reporter: thanks ukee it feels pretty nice out here right

now to the sky deck a light breeze brogue and temperatures are seasonal for mid july but through the next couple of days we'll be dodging showers and thunderstorms they'll be around all day tomorrow and again all day on wednesday. take look at storm scan3. we've had a line of very nasty storms that started in portions of illinois moved across the ohio valley. that line is now down in north carolina as you can see some very strong storms still it is starting to weaken frequent lightning and wind damage really traversing many states here tonight. luckily that area of storms has missed us to the south war getting a few pop up showers notice drifting from south to north and that will be the case as we head into tomorrow as well. so a few stray sprinkles in south jersey right now watching a couple of storms headed toward eastern maryland an few showers could pop up all across the area through the overnight hours for the most part things will be quite tonight but we do expect showers and storms through the day tomorrow. notice you wake up tomorrow morning at 8m to cloudy sky and maybe a shower especially up tour the lehigh valley and during the afternoon same story. 1:00 o'clock scattered showers.

candidate to enter the race and a new poll shows him leading in iowa. tonight the naacp national convention in philadelphia is getting ready for a presidential visit. earlier today pennsylvania congressman chaka fattah and new jersey senator cory booker participateed in panel discussion discussion. members talked about reforming the criminal justice system and other issues. pennsylvania senator bob casey also addressed the convention. he says lifting wages for the american worker is a priority for him on capitol hill. president obama will deliver the keynote address tomorrow at convention center and of course we will have full coverage for you here on air and on cbsphilly.com. former president bill clinton will also speak. >> also tomorrow nasa probe that has been flying in outerspace for nine years will give us a never before seen view of the planet pluto. this fly by is a rare feat and new horizons probe is expected to get within 7800 miles of pluto's orbit.

getting the worst of it this evening. let's take a look at storm scan3 you can see nasty storms moving into portions of ohio tornado watch in effect for this area. we've got this line storms this line has survived from portions of upper midwest all the way into the carolinas luck luckily it has missed us off to the south but we have a couple of spotty showers here and there drifting on in. we'll have to keep an eye on these in maryland. they could fry to lift into the region as they get into you are area really falling apart. that's actually good news. we're not seeing too much in the way of nasty weather here tonight. here's that moderate risk for severe weather it's been a rough day across the upper midwest still that tornado watch in effect for tomorrow we have we have marginal risk for severe weather but it's mainly off to the south. kent and suss connect counties in delaware you can get a strong storm. not a great threat for severe weather i think most of our storms tomorrow are just heavy showers that will pop up here and there during the course of the day. so 75 right now at the airport. not too bad for july night. 74 in wilmington. 73 degrees in reading at the moment. here's the way the neck few days

start to shake out a warm front is draped across the region tomorrow. a few heavy showers maybe a thunderstorm. highs in the 80s. on wednesday that cold front comes through with another chance for storms. these storms could get locally heavy as well on wednesday. then that front clears high pressure builds in we get drier, cooler air. less humid conditions on thursday. so the way it looks again showers and storms pop up especially in afternoon tomorrow tomorrow. there they are. they're scattered. another round with potentially heavy rain but watch what happens to our comfort index here's how it will feel over the next few days. steamy tomorrow and wednesday. dew points in the 60s up toward the 70s. but then we're pleasant thursday and friday as we slice down that humidity and things get a whole lot better. i do want to show you quickly tropical storm claudette going to move through the north atlantic and stay away from us. will not be an issue. we call that fish storm. our third storm of the atlantic season. overnight mainly cloudy with that spotty shower tomorrow warm and humid. showers and thunderstorms at 86 for the daytime high.
