>> we certainly do. >> seems that way katie. not looking forward to it, probably going to impact the morning rush hour, it will be a no fun zone. >> pretty much. actually unfortunately, it looks a lot of times you started morning wolf very much, very minimal issues out there on the roadways, but starting to seat weather already impact some of the major highways, and we should full screen view of storm scan3, going right back out to it, very heavy batch of thunderstorms now currently moving right up i-95 out through maryland. not only do you have torrential downpours, wind is peaking, frightening lightning, few. lightning strikes and what we're seeing on the area radar almost any time today. these little pockets that show up. so, there is not going to be just a giant swat of rain that moves through necessarily no, that is little different than that. scattered variety of showers and storms, but there will be embedded heavy downpours lead to go ponding on roadways,

lead to go slow travel. that's what you need to be worried about here today. >> umbrella absolutely good idea but again you won't be dealing with a widespread wash out necessarily just these pockets of heavier rain that will be rolling through the delaware valley. meantime, our comfort index isn't all that stellar current dew point 67 degrees, so you're sort of inbetween the border of steamy and oppressive at this point. but we are tracking a warmfront. so along with that warmth comes the moisture, that's where the dew points start to peak up. meantime wacking you through the course of the day hour by hour, we should hit the mid and upper 80s as the day progresses, don't expect heck after lot of sun we'll see very limited sunshine, but that said, with the clouds and with the showers and thunderstorms edge in the forecast here today definitely need to be ready for some slow travel out there. and again vittoria, i think it might be something you see little sooner than usual in time around. >> you agree? i am not looking forward to. that will because it is that middle period of the week, where it is just like we don't want it to feel like a drag even though it might be inevitable.

commander in chief takes the podium at 3:05 p.m. this afternoon, it will be the highlight after switch. and substantial visit to philadelphia, and the naacp convention let's get you now video of that event which began saturday, and is set to close out tomorrow. over the past several days, they've engaged their members the public and lawmakers on several pressing issues to the black community including voting right education equality, economic opportunity, as well as criminal justice reforms. these have all been hot button topics among panelists which included senator bob kacie previwed his own education reform legislation and remarks from the white house president obama hinted that he too would address those issues and more head-on but specifically that of criminal justice reform. take a take a listen. >> reporter: i'll layout some ideas for criminal just tips reform, many of whip are already getting bipartisan support. together we can make our communities safer. we can spend our taxpayer

mcknight are charged in the 2013 beating of rivera, captured on surveillance cameras. investigators say the two officers knocked him off his scooter, then beat him before arresting him. they also declared rivera was innocent. >> man from south jersey is facing animal cruelty charges accused of leaving two puppies in a hot car to die. authorities say that kevin conquest from sicklerville, left those puppies in a mt. laurel parking lot while he worked on july 4th. the puppies were a four month old husky and four mobility old golden retrieve earl. authorities say the dogs which were in a crate were already dead when they arrived on the scene. >> do not leave dogs, any animals in a car doesn't matter whether the air conditioner is running the windows are down, you may get tied up in a store or where ever you are and it will take you longer than you intended, but these animals actually cook from the inside. they die. it is a terrible, painful way

for these dogs to succumb. they should not be treated like that. >> conquest has a court date scheduled for next month. philadelphia archbishop charles chaput publicly support ago local catholic school's decision to fire a gay teacher in marion. saying the school was just following church teachings. in a statement written, chaput thanks the leaders of wald ren mercy academy for quote taking the steps to ensure that the catholic faith is presented this way fully in accord with the teaching of the church. chaput went ton say that character and common ends at a moment when both seemed to be uncommon. marge i winters said she lost her job at wald ren troubles director even though she had disclosed her same sex marriage in 2007. many parents are upset by her dismissal. they are asking for her to be reinstated. that will letter to parent, the sisters of mercy say they quote reaffirm the principal's decision as final although very painful. they add when a school is called to make a decision such as this, it challenges us as a

years, it will give us some never-before seen views of the dwarf planet pluto. the fly-by is a rare feat, and expected to get within 7800 miles of pluto orbit. atlantic city test is -- scientists know very little about the orbit. it will take photos only 1400 miles wide. keep in mind that's about half the width of the united state. the probe is nearly 3 billion miles from earth. and a little bit later right here on "eyewitness news" we'll speak to a nasa scientist to learn more about what we can see in these new images almost ten years in the making. and every time you hear this story, one roof your cat's names is pluto. >> taking it out of context and just what you just said when it is a cat. >> makes you chuck. >> i it is just goofy. but this really is one of the most fascinating stories. incredible to see. >> what we can do these days. >> love it. unfortunately our forecast? >> back here on planet earth. >> storms today? >> actually pretty heavy

clusters right now of thunderstorms even as we speak, so we'll get you right on out to storm scan3 give you idea what's going on, warm and cold front duo guys. so sort of classic summer weather, classic summertime system, here moving through with warmfront first and for most see that warmth build in heavier thunderstorms already coming through in again clusters. it is not a wall of water that's headed our way. but when you zero in on some of these specially outside the new castle county right now some of the storms are very drenching, so if you are traveling i-95 perhaps, coming into the city from delaware, take it easy out there. and also through salem cumberland counties, we have heavier batch of thunderstorms, as women. meanwhile, at wider zoom, there was moved through portions of the midwest, still brinking in very heavy rain, definitely some wind driven storms but that thankfully completely bypassing us, meanwhile, going through the rest of the day today just stuck with those showers and storms courtesy of warm and moist your air building in.

as a result, right on the cusp of where we may end up with locally severe weather here, so for the most part, talking -- talking marginal risk heavy downpours gusty wind, frequent lightning out of the storm thus far. please keep that in mind, be coo keep the umbrella at the ready. our current area temperatures generally into the low and mid 70s, little cooler by comparison depending where you reside. but that said, it is just a typical summer day when it comes to the warmth and humidity really. high of 87 degrees where we should be, there will be showers, storms, in scattered variety, any time pretty much today. even into tonight. we drop it down to 72 muggy degrees, looking forward in the forecast, today's the warmfront, tomorrow the cold front. there will be heavier showers thunderstorms, again have to rumble on through here, but by thursday friday, almost like we wiped the slate clean here, humidity goes away, back to the mid 80s sunshine, nice way to wrap up the week. back to you. >> looks good. getting a look this morning of video of donovan mcnabb dui arrest last month in arizona

bridges, we take a look at the ben franklin bridge, it is a smooth ride from new jersey into pa. no matter how you cut it, in and around this area here, every center city, maybe taking the walt whitman maybe taking the burlington bristol all good this morning. moving to 95, this is 95 right at the vine, eastbound ramp to 95, traveling southbound, we do have construction, gets you down to one lane, but not causing too much after problem. roads are still sleeping. no delays for mass transit. so hopefully it stays like this for quite some time. but throughout the rush hour, katie, do you think that we'll have some rain at least around maybe lie 6:15 into 9:00? >> probably, one of the days you ends up with pockets every thunderstorms, sort of pop up out of no where, it is triggered by something and triggered by warmfront more than anything, but if you look around our region right now yes, you have some clusters of showers, thunderstorms, very heavy rain, continues to move off to the southeast here through portions of the virginias, and eastern kentucky but we don't have to worry about. that will meantime, hey guys, we have tropical storm on our hands thankfully

right now so right over for the timing. into the day to forget the umbrella. >> the thing here i would say more than anything is the fact that you know these showers come through in clusters at times, pretty much any time, to earn the day today. we start thing off with just a view of "skycam 3", at the moment, if you look real close, see right up at the top of the screen here, little glimmer of some daylight trying to peak over the clouds here, but overall, we definitely have more clouds than anything, start the morning off certainly we just showed you on storm scan3 some heavier thunderstorms, so at the moment in ac, looking good, doesn't mean it stays that way. let's go next to storm scan. we take you to the loop mode of the area radar where we are finding definitely some heavier clusters of thunderstorms here. now salem cumberland, i95 within the last half hour or so perhaps if you are traveling out of new castle county toward maryland, you ended up with real heavy rain, some embedded thunder torrenti
