neighborhood is on edge following a frightening attempted break in that's all captured on camera. quick thinking homeowner prevented what could have been tragic situation. >> good evening everyone i'm ukee washington. >> i'm jessica dean. natasha brown is live outside northwest detectives where police are now searching for the four men scene in this video. natasha? >> we can tell you terrifying video shows the actual moment that four suspects armed with guns tried to storm a west mt. airy home and neighbors in that area who are seeing this video for the first time are rattled and on guard. the home surveillance video is crystal clear showing the actions of four suspects trying to make entry into this house in the 500 block of burn numb road the first suspect knocks on the door at 10:30 tuesday night. then looks right up into the camera overhead. another knock the homeowner quickly open the door before hustling back inside seeing the sawed off shotgun in the hands of one man. hand guns in the hands of at least three others. >> it's kind of scary because i

was actually sleeping down in my living room last night because the ac down there just to keep cool. and i saw the cop cars out front front. i didn't -- i had no idea what was going on. >> reporter: rob steal has lived on the block for seven years right across the street from the attempted home inn vague the suspects ran away never entering the house. we found no one at the home hours after the terrifying footage surfaced. >> i felt sick hahn neverly. >> reporter: this neighbor is still too shaken to show her face describing a normally quite narrow tree lined street. >> nothing like this has ever happened before. very safe street part of the reason i live here. this is shocking. >> reporter: rattleed nerves and frightening images that are hard to shake. >> i think that it will always be in the back of my mind now. >> reporter: the images of these suspects as you can see there in that video are very vivid. police say if you have any information about any of these men, please contact them right away. we're live at northwest detectives to night, natasha

brown cbs3 "eyewitness news". all right, natasha thank you. fire forces the evacuation of a popular philadelphia restaurant. "eyewitness news" in the 600 block of north broad street outside ostria around 9:00 o'clock tonight. it broke out in to top floor apartment above the restaurant. three people had to be rescued from the apartment but no one was injured. >> the rain is finally moved out and big changes in store as we get ready to wind down the work week. meteorologist kate bilo out on the sky deck right now. kate i think i hard before you the show in a little break a little nip in the area. >> slightly cool out here ukee this is crazy because the past couple of days have been so warm, so steamy and so inn suffer rabble with the humidity. now, humidity is dropping it feels completely different right now than it did even just a couple of hours ago. there's a nice cool breeze and you may even need to throw on sweater if you're taking the dog out for an early morning walk tomorrow. let's take a look what's happening on storm scan3. not a whole lot. you can see the showers are now moving out to sea. the showers and rain that impacted the area all morning

and into the mid afternoon hours now finally gone. but in their wake we did have some flooding rain went do have a flood warning to tell you about for portions of the cumberland county that does include the maurice river at norma in a flood warning right now the river and creeks and streams in this area running high so if your travels take you adjacent to any of those creeks and streams watch out. roads are flooded turn around don't drown head back the way you came. temperatures right now feeling really great. we're down to 70 at the airport look at the north and west suburb in the 60s. 64 in allentown. it's 57 right now in mount pocono. and down to 70 in millville the dew points are dropping as well. dew point now in the 50s in philadelphia. this time yesterday we were in the mid 70s. so complete difference as that dry air work its way in from the north and west. as you wake up tomorrow, 68 degrees mostly sunny. feeling fantastic at 7am and warm up into the mid 70s by 11 a.m. hahn on our way to highs in the low 80s which is below average for this time of year. beautiful thursday then heats up again for the weekend. i'll have your full forecast

coming up when i join you inside inside. we'll zen it back to you. >> torrential downpours earlier today leaves streets in our region u water. police in brigantine patrolled water log streets looking for any problems caused by the flooding. youngsters had fun rideing their bikes through the flood waters. public work crews picked up the garbage around the shore town. authorities believe a lightning strike sparked a house fire in dayton street in phoenix phoenixville chester county. two families were inside the twin home when the fire started this morning. two volunteer firefighters driving by sew saw the smoke. they pulled over and told our todd quinones they started knocking on the door. >> reporter: you guys were getting ready to break the door down i heard. >> if she wouldn't have an the the door within the next couple of minutes we were going to kick the door in. >> reporter: when she answered the door did she understand what was going on? >> no, she did. she kept asking who it was. we kept saying your house is fire. >> neighbors are calling the firefighters angels forgetting the families out of the burning home safely.

residents are outraged tonight over rising water bills in gloucester county, new jersey. a new rate increase has water and sewer customers in monroe township seeing record high water bills. "eyewitness news" reporter david spunt has this story. there's something funny going on here. i want that noted i feel shares something funny going on here. >> reporter: nobody in monroe township is laughing. especially after opening record high water bills for the month of may. >> my usage 43,000 gallons of water. $371. >> neighbors packed the utility authority meeting to express outrage. the high bills are a popular subject on the streets of monroe township. >> they said i used 35,000 gallons of water in may and i don't understand how i would use 35,000 gallons of water. i don't have a pool. >> karen, says she was shocked when she opened may's water bill a few week ago. >> we're not really getting any straight answers.

george h.w. bush is in the hospital after falling at his home in maine. a spokesman says the 41st president broke a bone in his neck but that the injury is not life-threatening. george hw bush is 91 years old. president obama is making his case for congress to support the international nuclear deal with iran. the president took questions from reporters during a white house news conference today. republicans say the deal does too much to help iran by lifting economic sanctions without getting enough oversight in return. but president obama says walking away from this deal which most countries support would unravel any sanctions. >> this is the most vigorous inspection and very are you indication regime by far that has ever been negotiated f we don't choose wisely i think future generations will judge us harshly for letting this moment slip away. >> congress has 60 days to review the deal and vote whether to approve it.

joaquin el chapo guzman slipped through a 2-foot hole just out of site of the surveillance camera rahs. the drug kingpin dropped into a ventilateed tunnel equipped with electricity. and there was even a motorcycle to help him speed away. the international manhunt for guzman continues tonight. president obama addressed the topic of comedian bill cosby when questioned today at his press conference. sexual assault awareness group asking the white house to revoke cosby's presidential medal of freedom following claims by dozens of women that cosby sexually passion sauled them. >> with respect to the medal of freedom, there's no precedent for revoking a medal. we don't have that mechanism. >> president obama says cosby can keep the medal he received in 2002. the president did not specifically address the allegations against cosby. got movie news for if you night. director kevin smith posted this

catch big brother three nights a week right here on cbs3. >> nasa showing photos of pluto and its moons. the new horizons probe captured the images during historic fly by on tuesday. it took the probe nine years to get there. scientists say the photos show us the terrain on the dwarf planet. mountains as high as 11,000 feet can be seen on the surface and some images also showed details about mut tow's moons. more photos will be released later this week. technology that takes us to far away planets is also changing lives here on earth. there's a global challenge underway to find new inn know vagues to help people with dissables. >> health reporter stephanie stahl joins us now to show you some of the inventions and how they're paying off for delaware county mother and son. >> that's right. most of us can't live without our phones it makes a whole lot easier technology for people with dissable social security more than just a convenience. if you can't see or talk or move, new innovations really are life changers. to night we have a story about a

paul is hoping the at&t connect ability challenge will come up with new technologies that allows him to communicate quicker. innovations from around the world are being submitted. not just to help possible with communication disorders. the new technology could help people with a variety of disabilityies. a few examples for the blind there's an indoor navigation device. >> restroom 35 feet ahead. >> for people with movement disorders their tongue can control technology. and this. >> one tall cappucino please. >> for people with paul with trouble talking there's wearable device that speaks customized phrases when a button is pushed. >> new technologists can be a big part of helping people like me to communicate our thoughts, feelings and needs. >> paul tested some of the innovations and so did others with dissables. they will vote on the best inventions the winner gets $100,000. >> i hope to see some great new tools and spread the idea of designing with empathy.

fantastic out there for tonight. it's been a busy couple of week. the last few weeks thousands without power starting in the last weeks of june with that straight line wind event recording a 72-mile per hour gust in philadelphia. numerous flash floods over the past several weeks. including today, of course, and three confirmed tornadoes in the past two weeks berks county, new castle county, and chester county. the good news is, this weather pattern is moving out and we've got better conditions moving n can't rule out a stray leftover sprinkle around the batch edge through the first part of the overnight down the shore the rest of us are seeing those cool conditions start to push in from the north and west and it feels great. 64 in reading right now. it's 57 in mount pocono you need a light jacket up there. 70 degrees in philadelphia. 71 at the atlantic city airport. you can see the cool air pushing in from northwest to southeast. high pressure sitting overhead tomorrow will bring us a cool north wind. temperatures in the low 80s which is actually four or 5 degrees below normal for this time of year. not very often we get a mid july day like tomorrow. so i you were to you enjoy it if
