"eyewitness news" reporter steve paterson is at police headquarters with that story steve. >> reporter: video you where to see was taken in early april depicting at rest of 22-year old tyrese carol but as you mentioned it was released in recent weeks leading to internal police investigation. today we spoke to terrell's supporters and police department both who argued the context of what you where to see lets take a look. two minutes of screaming pleading. two minutes of a police arrest caught on cameras until

someone yells, stop. >> stop, stop. >> reporter: eyewitness video taken april 4th shows at rest of 22-year old tyrese carol it starts with three officers struggling to subdue the man and end with officers, striking carol while yelling obscenities, until he is taken into custody. >> it is excessive. for multiple police officer to beat and kick and threaten and curse, somebody. >> reporter: the the video was released earlier this month and it has since spurred an internal police investigation. carol supporters including friend and attorneys spoke out the demanding his release in punishment for the police involved. >> there is no justification for this excessive brutality. >> here we are. >> reporter: police disagree. >> moment these officers stopped, stopped this individual, he began to fight with the officers. >> reporter: their account carol was a arrested with more than 5 grams of crack cocaine while on probation, and violently resisted arrest, including biting two police

officers. lieutenant john stanford says the investigation will bear out the facts that were not captured in those two minutes. >> there air lot of factors that you do not see on that video and that is the whole purpose of an investigation. >> reporter: so, again that video taken april 4th in east germantown. showing carol's arrest. he is scheduled for an arraignment july 21st and then police say their findings in that internal investigation are set to follow. coming up at 6:00 we will speak to carol's attorney who speaks about what he believes are the legal ramifications of that video. that is at 6:00. we are live at philadelphia police headquarters, i'm steve paterson for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". >> we will see you at 6:00, steve. fbi is looking in the background of the man they said killed four marines during a shooting rampage in chattanuga, tennessee yesterday. mohammad youssef abdulazeez, was killed by police in a gunfight. latest on this, todd. >> reporter: jessica, there are growing questions about the shooter's motive and if he was inspired by isis but during a press conference late today, fbi says that right new there is no indication that he was inspired by anyone other than himself. >> this matter continues to be investigated as an act of terrorism. >> reporter: federal investigators return to the scene to gather clues from the thursday's shooting rampage in chattanuga, 24 year-old mohammad youssef abdulazeez, a naturalized u.s. citizen from kuwait carried out attacks on two military facilities. >> he did have at least two long guns which would be considered rifles or shotguns and he did have one handgun. >> reporter: four marines were killed and three others injured at a naval marine reserve center. police officer shot and killed abdulazeez ending his 30 minute rampage. the tragedy cuts deep for this tight community as they laid flowers at a growing memorial to show their respect for the victims.

drexel university graduate found dead in the west philadelphia apartment likely knew her attacker. investigators say that no forced entry was found at 27 year-old jasmine wright's apartment on south 50th street. autopsy results are pending but police say it appears that she was beaten, possibly strangled. no arrests have been made in the case. last night wright graduated from drexel school of public health. philadelphia police and fbi investigating a bank robbery in center city. chopper three over 16th and chestnut. police say hold up took place around 11:00 this morning. they say robber handed the teller a note and made off with an undisclosed amount of cash. take a look at these surveillance pictures police are searching for a man who robbed a td bank on third and market streets this morning. authorities say this man handed a teller a threatening note and then ran away with cash. this same suspect is wanted for another robbery at td bank on south 11th street last night. police say this suspect is

considered armed dangerous. and egg harbor township police made two arrests in an alleged counterfeit currency scheme. michael lotsey and erika mitchell have been subject of the a year long investigation they have accused of passing fake $50 bills. they face charges for counterfeit cash crimes in somers point. it is a disturbing video to watch, two softball dads fist fighting at a girls softball tournament. police arrested both fathers as a result and this video has gone viral in the last 24 hours. today "eyewitness news" new jersey reporter cleve bryan spoke with neighbors who know the men involved. >> reporter: parents in the video are from a ten year-old and young are traveling softball team out of mays landing called south jersey maniacs but it is the dad gone wild. it started as an argument and soon became a bloody brawl. forty-eight year-old michael barbella drove to salisbury maryland to pick a fight with another father from his

daughter's former softball team. according to police reports the girl is no longer part of the team because of her dad. >> i have never seen mike at a game aim's not sure how he acts. >> reporter: he and his family lived across the street in ventnor for three years. >> nothing to be proud of from either side, i heard about something about his daughter, and mike's daughter is a wonderful young lady. she's very active in a lot of sports and excellent academics. >> reporter: police say barbella wouldn't cooperate and said his yours came from falling on concrete. they said second father michael duffy told officers he was sorry forgetting involved and showed a text showing that he wanted to fight. we went to both houses and neither family was home. >> it is a bad influence. >> reporter: jim berk is a veteran umpire from atlantic and cape may county. >> younger the children playing the more the parents become involve in the game. >> reporter: he says yelling and screaming at umpire is a bad example.

a scare in the air in upstate new york. >> a propel ler falls off a small plane and slices in the roof of someone's home. authorities say the the pilot encounter engine trouble as he flew over a rural village northwest of albany yesterday. the pilot was able to flied back to a private landing strip even after losing a very important piece of that small plane. eyewitnesses describe, what she saw. >> it is just like right over that way and kind of just like a put put noise and i looked and propeller is falling out of the sky.

>> i came home and there was a big hole in my roof. not a pleasant thing to see. >> reporter: no one was hurt but propeller sliced in the home's attic and damaged the walls. the federal aviation administration is investigating. this is just an unbelievable scene pieces of someone's life the scattered on the streets in st. louis this home exploded last night as fire fighters rescued two people from underneath that ruble. they are now in critical condition. investigators have not determine the cause but they have to shut off gas to the entire area as they secured this scene. dozens of cars are destroyed after a parking garage collapsed near binghamton, new york. no one was injured in all this but officials say the upper level of the lot came crashing down in the medical center parking garage. investigators don't know what triggered the collapse. summer is in full swing we know that but before you throw the steaks on the grill for your next bash key listen up for this. >> three on your side reporter jim donovan tells us about a process that used to make meat

tastier but it is important with the the way meat is cooked. >> reporter: this has to be meet met that is mechanically tenderized. is there no rules in place to let consumer knows what they have been buying had been tenderized. report i gault stacks up whenever they are on sale but she didn't know that some of the steaks and roasts on store shelves have been mechanically tenderized during processing. >> i had no idea. >> i don't mind meat being tenderized but i need to know about it because it does bear how i will cook it. >> reporter: experts say terry has the right idea. when beef is mechanically tenderized needles or blades are used to break town connective tissue in the meat allowing for a more tender products. the potential issue according to the usda. >> basically the process is such if there are pathogens present it will drive them into the the inner muscle and you cannot tell by looking at products whether they are mechanically tenderized or not. >> consumers need to know if this is untilcally tender ice sewed they have to cook it differently.

it has to be cook more thoroughly for sure. >> reporter: starting next year usda will require labels similar to these on all beef mechanically tenderized. >> it will have two things on the label. number one it will have a cooking instructions, along with the rest time and then it will have the process in which it can mechanically tenderized. >> reporter: consumer advocate chris walldrift said labels are important but if you see one it doesn't mean you should put the package down and avoid something else. >> they just need to cook it properly and, the labeling and the the strip oxes will help them do that. >> reporter: labeling rules, go into effect next may. in the meantime all steaks and roasts should be cooked to an internal temperature of 145 degrees work a three minute wait time before cutting into them. >> what about until then is anybody putting this information on the label. >> costco has been voluntarily putting this information on their labels for two years now. it initial to law next may but in the meantime ask when you are at the deli counter and just check you want to make

storm chasers captured this inn wentible video of tornadoes touching down in illinois yesterday. severe weather produced three funnel cloud in warren county before sweeping into one massive tornado. the powerful twister tore up debris as it ripped apart a field. in the town of cameron. authorities say had despite the damage no serious injuries why reported, and crews planned a very busy weekend of storm clean up. that is for sure. >> yes wow incredible. >> yes. >> it is, you know, we have seen severe weather here this season but nice to have a little break. we see our heart go out to them. >> no doubt about that. >> when you see it in tornado alley, when you see those massive tornado and just can't even imagine that coming toward us not at all. >> you just really just wonder. we have things coming our way as well as look at what is heading out side.

we've got some more heat, humidity heading our way. we have a few thunderstorm to tell but for saturday. take a look at storm scan three you can see showers heading in our direction and mainly, staying off to the north for today as warm front lifts across portions of the north east and into new england as well. what we have to watch are showers associated with the tail end of this system that are moving through portions of indiana and ohio. same system that caused that tornado in illinois. they are producing severe weather across portions of indiana and now moving in the ohio will valley. these showers abe storms will head our direction overnight and could hold together enough to give us a shower, maybe a rumble of thunder to portions of our region tomorrow morning. i will show thaw in our future weather model. temperatures right now 82 in philadelphia. seventy-eight in reading. eighty in millville. atlantic city airport is sitting at 78. look at this big dome of heat over central and southern portion of the country here. it is 94 in little rock. ninety-four in oklahoma city. here's how it feels like 100

in little rock. 102 in oklahoma city. it feels like 104 in nashville. this is heat lifting to the east as we head in the weekend. heat intensifies starting tomorrow. we will get up to 90 degrees. watch for an afternoon then are storm. maybe a stray shower in the morning in a few spots as well. sunday looks generally dry just a chance for a stray storm in the afternoon but sunday looks like the hottest day of what could eventually be a five take heat wave, feels like 100 degrees here on sunday. we have had that heat advisory, for philadelphia and surrounding suburbs. on monday humid with a thunderstorm, highs in the 90's. once again cold front trails through the region. here's what it looks like as we go through rest of tonight. things stay quiet. overnight couple showers may sneak in, you can see off to the south tomorrow morning here's 7:00 a.m. portions of delaware and into south jersey could pick up a shower early. by 11:00 a.m. we will see sunshine and more sun in the afternoon but better chance for these scattered showers and storms, some of which could produce locally heavy rainfall. 8:00 o'clock saturday. sunday a a mainly sunny day

now a local police chief is outrage, the suspect was even out on the streets in the first place. "eyewitness news" reporter syma chowdhry has this story from darby boro. >> i'm he frustrated, no. angry. >> reporter: darby boro police chief robert smyth wants to necessity why the same suspect was arrested for the same crime twice in one week. >> why was he on the street. >> reporter: police arrested this man last tuesday after a 13 year-old girl told them he was trying to lure her in his white veneer the area of summit and main streets. the bail department recommended that the judge set bail at $50,000. >> but our judge for whatever reason, i don't know, reduce that had to $10,000 at 10 percent. and put him back on the street. >> reporter: he was arrested again, thursday evening after police say he tried to lure a ten year-old girl. police say he was in the white van, again, in the same area, this time, on the 600 block of darby terrace. chief s in myth is pointing

follow-up, charlotte. >> reporter: ukee, this former caseworker is just one of six people, who have been charged in a far reaching case, to strip new jersey senior citizens of their life savings. william price was supposed to be helping the elderly but instead, he set them up, to be ripped off. if you are a caseworker and you are tasked with looking after the elderly do your job, protect them, look after them. >> reporter: today price admitted he used his job to bee friend an elderly couple, and then referred the couple to three women whom authorities say posed as caregivers in order to scam them to the tune of $800,000, of which price admits he earned a 125,000. >> it is just one case in a ten year long conspiracy to steel 3.8 million-dollar from at least 16 atlantic county victims. >> they named themselves power of attorney, heir to the estate and most of these

koran tuesday. he later died at a hospital, and authorities believe that the cobra bit the 18 year-old on the wrist and then went away from the car. thompson's family owns a pet store. and today new video surfaced on the one year anniversary of the crash of malaysia airlines flight mh17. it shows russian backed rebels sifting through rebels and belongings of the passengers at that crash site. the plane crashed over eastern ukraine near the russian border killing 298 people. it is believed that the missle fired from the ground took that plane down. well scientists now say mountains of ice cover parts of the pluto's surface. new horizons spacecraft team revealed close-up photos of those discoveries today. the craft buzzed by pluto three days ago and scientists have named the plan it after disputenick the world's first manmade satellite. >> have a look at the icy frozen planes have of pluto. who would have expected this kind of complexity.

by their peers later in life. new study followed children from birth to sixth great. researchers say they may be more vulnerable due to poor social skills by watching a a lot of television. it was published by the journal of development and behavioral pediatrics. on the cbs-3 healthwatch losing weight and keeping it off might be harder than we know. >> health reporter stephanie stahl joins with us more discouraging research. >> reporter: for lots of people this isn't a good one. two thirds of americans are overweight or obese which can lead to chronic health problems. well, this new research says many of them will be fighting, a never ending battle. if you are obese researchers say it is unlikely thaw will be able to slim down to a normal weight. that is according to a new study published in the american journal of public health but research actually came from the health records of nearly 300,000 men and women from the uk. and researchers found that people were more likely to lose 5 percent of their body weight, but most put it back on within five years.
