temperatures in the 90s yes may feel like over 100 by tomorrow. so if you don't like the heat and humidity there is weekend a good weekend to stay in the air-conditioning. until then we will slowly increase the humidity through today, starting off morning dry. there are clouds outside. let's take you to the ben franklin bridge. overcast skies over center city. we will be tracking some showers, storms, later today. check out storm scan3 right now, and we do see just dry conditions over the region, currently. but cluster of some showers some storms, over north central pennsylvania, again, some of the showers could linger into our region, now later this morning into the afternoon. there are are the temperatures waking up, pretty muggy, low mid 70s, 74 south jersey, 74 palmyra, new jersey, low 70s quakertown it tells us the humidity levels on the increase. it was nights yesterday. forget about it today. mid to upper 60s, dover, delaware, indicates very sticky air mass, those numbers will continue to rise.

highway, between southern california and las vegas about 55 miles northeast of las vegas. ran from the scene as heat and smoke from the fire filled the roadway. >> everyone was trying to get out of their vehicle and just move upward away from the fire. >> was your heart race ago bit? >> oh, i was terrified. >> the california highway patrol reports up to 75 vehicles were left abandoned traffic backed up for miles as authorities shutdown several lanes while the fire quickly spread. san berdino fire officials reported at least five homes burned another 50 threatened by the flames. >> there you can see nice drop right on those carps they just dropped right down on them. >> jet helicopters dropped fire retardant firefighters sprayed water on the fire as desserts winds fanned the flames. chris martinez, cbs-3 "eyewitness news". and new this morning camden police are investigate being a shooting, the incident happened on north 26th street just before 2:00 this morning.

police received a call from a man saying he was shot in the chest, and when police arrived they found adult man, with gunshot wounds to his chest and his neck. he was taken to the hospital. >> also, philadelphia police investigating a shooting at adult book store over night, it happened just before 4:00 this morning. a man in his early two's, an attempted to rob the store 100 block of south 13th street. he then shot one of the employees in the back. that victim was taken to the hospital in stable condition. the robber didn't make off with any money and police are still searching for him. >> well, one man is dead, and another wounded after a shooting near a philadelphia playground. there were children nearby. it all happened just before 7:00 last night at 60th and columbia over brook neighborhood. police say 42 year old man was shot multiple times, including once in the head. he died at the hospital. the victim's 38 year old brother was shot once in the hand, he is in the hospital in stable condition. no arrest haves been made, but the get-away car was found with multiple guns inside.

"eyewitness news" reporter syma chowdhry will have a live report on this in about 30 minutes. >> a man remains in critical condition this morning after he was shot by a philadelphia police officer. that shooting happened at eighth and fairmount around 7:00 last night. a police department spokesperson says a fully uniformed officer observed a man with a handgun in his waistband. detective say that armed man was shot once, after refusing commands from the officer. the man was transported to hahnemann hospital with a bullet wound to the chest. >> detectives investigating the murder after race in drexel university graduate who says, and they say she likely new her attacker. police say there was no sign of forced entry at the 27 year old's apartment on south 50 street. autopsy result are pending but police say it appears she was beaten and possibly strangled. no arrest haves been made in this case, but police say they are making some progress and just last month that student graduated from drexel school of public health.

>> well, in you details are emerging about the gunman who shot and killed four marines and injured three other people at military facilities in chattanooga, tennessee. as cbs-3 jessica dean reports fbi launched a terror investigation. an eyewitness used a cell phone to record the gun battle between police and muhammad use he at the scene where he murdered four marines and shot three other. abdul died in the shoot-outment the fbi says he carried two rifles and handgun when elands thatched attack from his car at this military recruiting office. >> he was not wearing body armor. he was wearing what we consider a load bearing vest, meaning it was a vest that he was able to carry additional magazines of ammunition. >> investigators sent the gunman's computer to the f.b.i. lab in west virginia, analyze them to see whether he had contact with any terror groups. >> at this time we have no indication that he was inspired by or directed by anyone other than himself.

>> but the investigation may lead elsewhere. officials say he traveled to jordan last year and spent seven months overseas. they want to know who he met with, if any of his contact attempt topped radicalize him. also found two blog posts the author said, quote there is life is short and bitter and quote the opportunity to smith to al a may pass you by. it was written just three days before the shooting. the marines remains were taken to dover air force base where they will be prepared for their final honors. steady stream of people visited as the community grieves. jessica dean cbs-3 "eyewitness news". now, cbs news has also learned that he had at least one encounter local police back in mid april. he was pulled over for driving under the influence. meanwhile, delaware state police investigate a crash involving an s.u.v. and three mocks. this happened just after 9:30 last night on chapman road.

police say a 56 year old man was making a left turn and failed to yield to oncoming traffic. the suv drove into the path after motorcycle. that motorcycle hit the suv causing chain reaction, and in total three motorcycles were involved in that crash and three people taken to the hospital. all with non-life threatening injuries. also, last night vigil for the victim after hit-and-run in fairhill. family and friends gathered to remember 17 year old tyrone tillman. philadelphia police say he was killed, while riding his bicycle on the 4,000 block of north second street sunday. prosecute remembers deciding whether to charge the driver of that vehicle. it is 5:08. there are demands for justice this morning following the violent arrest after drug suspect, that was caught on camera in germantown. that video recorded in april shows philadelphia police officers beating tyree carol following a drug bust. now there is violent arrest took on national attention when the video went viral last

>> can't rule out shower or storm later this morning later this afternoon, but i wouldn't cancel the outdoor plans, maybe have the umbrella around. typical summer like stuff. hot, humid afternoon showers storms, it is mid july, what we can expect here across the delaware vale. average high is 87. we will do better than that, upper 80s to around 90 today. tomorrow that's the hottest day we will be touching the mid 90s but that's half the battle. a lot of humid toy deal with. outside right now still overcast skies over the region corks see few patches of blue this morning, but i don't think we see the sun probably until late morning into the afternoon, as there are a round of some showers, even few thunderstorms rolling through central pennsylvania right now, check it out on storm scan3 now if these hold, thee should probably reach the delaware valley probably in another three four hours or so. again, some light showers maybe again rumble every thunder, by mid-morning that's about it, then we should dry out then late in the day again, could be isolated or scattered shower or storm. it is warm, though, low, mid 70s, around philadelphia, surrounding suburbs, mount pocono the cool spot.

>> good morning, nicole. police are investigating an execution-style shooting that took place right near a playground filled with children. one man is dead, and another injured, but amazingly no child was hurt. but parent say they were shaken up. >> we're working out or normal work out we do. next thing you know, we hear gunshots. pop, pop pop. next thing you know we turn it around. we have our kids playing out here, we are frantic rush over make sure the kids are all right. >> we hesitate and just started taking cover. >> parent and neighbors are stunned to learn, a fatal shooting took place just feet from a with us i playground, in overbrook friday evening. it happened around 6:45, on the 1900 block of north 60th street. with the pleasant weather there were at least 40 people at the playground, when police say a 42 year old man was shot multiple times including once in the head. he was pronounced dead at the hospital. the victim's brother was shot in the hand, and taken to the

hospital as well. the playgrounds was shut down after police combed the scene for evidence. >> amazingly no children were killed or shot because the playground was open with children in the pool. >> no arrests have been made, but police have recovered a get-away car and multiple guns, right now, they are looking for two men they say they were masked at the time of the shooting. we're live at police headquarters, syma chowdhry, cbs-3, "eyewitness news". >> thank goodness those kids are okay, syma, thank you. for the second time in a week, delaware county man is behind bars for trying to lure a young girl in darby borough. police say six a year old isaac allegedly asked a ten year old girl to get into his van thursday night. well, he was arrested last week for allegedly trying to lure another 13 year old girl in that same neighborhood. the darby police chief has

they've investigated 20 pick pocket incident just since january. police believe the people in these pictures are responsible, and may be part of a national pick pocket ring. police say the thieves work in pairs, and often target purses on the backs of chairs and restaurants. police advise to never leave your bag unattended. well, pop up beer guard never point breeze that re-opened after being shutdown by l & i has now been shutdown again. l & i says, owner john longache did he not obtain a license from the city to operate that beer garden on the 1600 block of point breeze avenue. but, long acre tells "eyewitness news" he doesn't need approval from the city because state issued liquor license is being used to operate it. appeals judge will settle that dispute. well, the city now work to go fill a dangerous sinkhole on the 3400 block of keim street in kensington. it is now block off. resident complain to "eyewitness news" after woman fell into that hole, and then we contacted the city from there. resident say that hole had been there for about a month and a half and was getting

bigger and bigger. the city is now investigating the cause of the sinkhole. >> well, for the first time in more than 40 years tuition at penn state university will not increase for in-state undergraduates in the upcoming school year. now the move keeps the annual tuition at about $16,570. non-pennsylvania resident tuition, though, will rise by 2.8% on average. 5:36. cbs pharmacy is investigating a possible data breach of it photo website. the drug store chain says credit card information collected from users of cbs photo. com may have been compromised. now the site is temporarily suspended as well as its mobile app. purchases made on the cbs main site and also in physical storms were not affected. >> so, if you are going to be taking a train into philadelphia, during the pope's visit for any reason at all monday morning actually the first day to buy those train tickets on line. septa is putting special papal passes on sale next week, and of course, there is a limited number available.

afternoon, into the early evening hours. looks like the severe potential is low but could be stronger storm that does develop with some gusty wind. tomorrow mainly sunny skies just down right hot humid so what's it going to feel like? these are the feel-like temperatures, later this afternoon, mid to potentially upper 90s when you factor in the humidity. tomorrow it get worse. look at that. it may feel like over 100 degrees in some locations across the region. little bit cooler up in the mountains, but still humid day, really, throughout the entire weekends, talking about some shower and storm chances again today for the poconos. so forecast highs inland spots up around 90 degrees, shower storm, tonight, still muggy, warm, and evening storm possible, 75, low temperature maybe headed out to the phils game at any time against the marlins, watch out for scattered storm chance at first pitch. warm 84 degrees, by the end of the game, should stay dry muggy, though, at 80 when you're exiting the stadium. extended forecast 95 the high sunday, feeling like over 100 better chance for showers
