the humidity making it feel so much worse outside. we have live team coverage this evening and we begin with meteorologist justin drabick in our weather center. justin. >> all right natasha looks like we have about another 24 hours of the high heat and humidity to deal with. the official high temperature today so far coming in at 95 degrees in philadelphia. so, this is not factoring in the humidity but it did feel a whole lot hotter. this ties the hottest day in 2015 at 95 degrees but it's not a record high, set back in 1930. reading saw a high of 94 degrees, 93 in allentown. millville at into. delaware coming in at 93 degrees this afternoon and here's where we stand right now. current temperature still in the lower and mid 90's in some of the warm spots. a little bit cool intersouth jersey now. starting to see some upper 80's return but the humidity sticks around. it really goes nowhere any time soon. this is what it feels like when you factor in the

humidity. still upper 90's to around 100 degrees. in philadelphia 98 and wilmington. excessive heat warnings for the areas in red philadelphia and suburbs. continues until 8 o'clock monday evening. areas in orange will be under a heat advisory until monday. heat indices 100 or 101 or 102. tomorrow mid 90's. high heat indices. avoid strenuous activity. try to stay indoors if you can. we talk when when the relief arrives in the seven-day forecast. natasha. >> thank you justin. live coverage continues with steve patterson at drexel park in west philadelphia. how are you doing out there? how are you holding up. >> reporter: you know natasha you heard justin we got all these technical fancy ways to measure temperature and humidity and barometric pressure but how do you measure misery? it is brutal

out here. feels like a oven. we found several people trying to escape this heat and their plan to not only stay outside but also to avoid the brutal temperature and to cool down their body temperature. look at this. shocking stifling, suffocating, sunday for these kids reprieve from mother nature's chokehold came in the form of shooting water. >> it's brutal. it's taxing. you're in the field and all you want to do is run for the shade. >> reporter: julio said it didn't take long for his son julian to make an executive decision. >> i think he spent 10 minutes in the play ground and then decided to come in here and cool off. >> reporter: more than 50 families decided to enjoy the park. over in west philly marvin is leading 12 volunteers at blackwell regional library to save the overheated as one of the city's cooling.

sources tell cbs3 a guilty plea may come as early as next week in the deadly center city building collapse of 2013. according to sources close to this case, crane operator sean benschop may enter a plea at a hearing tuesday morning. six people died when a brick wall toppled onto the roof of a salvation army thrift store. because of a gag order neither benschop's attorney nor prosecutors can comment on this case. also police are look for two suspects in section with a suspicious fire in south philadelphia. it happened about 3:00 this morning when a home under construction caught fire forcing more than a dozen to evacuate. cherri gregg from our sister station kyw news radio 1060 has the latest on the investigation. >> i was shocked. first of all i never seen a fire like that in my life. barry says he's still

traumatized after witnessing a fire here near juniper and snyder avenue. when fire officials arrived on the scene the three story building was engulfed in flames. >> once it caught on fire it had a collapse from the second floor to the first floor so we established collapse zones right away. >> reporter: it took firefighters nearly two hours to control the blaze but not before it damaged four homes and forced the evacuation of the entire 1300 block of snyder avenue. >> it was so hot in my apartment that i could not touch the door handles of the doorknob and from there i just walked out the house. >> reporter: now investigators are looking into possible foul play. he told police he saw a person wearing a hoodie go inside this building moments before it caught fire. >> first i heard broken glass. then i seen him enter the building that caught on fire. then i seen another gentleman on the roof. >> reporter: he said both left the scene and a few minutes later. >> there was huge explosion. it's definitely shocking to

see something like that. i'll never forget that. >> reporter: investigators pulled surveillance video from nearby homes and businesses and identified two suspects but it could be at least another day before the fire marshal and atf officials can officially determine whether this is arson. in south philadelphia, cherri gregg, kyw news radio for cbs3 "eyewitness news." >> well, now to the very latest on the allegations against bill cosby. in a recently unsealed deposition cosby once described an encounter with a woman accusing him of molestation as "somewhere between permission and rejection." the associated press has obtained a transcript of that 2005 deposition that was first reported by the new york times. at one point in the deposition cosby describes the same woman as a willing participant in a sexual encounter. the lawsuit was brought by an exemployee at temple university andrea constant. a man survived a shooting in west philadelphia after a bullet got lodged in his four

head. this happened after midnight on the corner of north 46 and paris streets. they were breaking up a nearby block party at the time and heard the shots. officers found the victim with the bullet stuck in his head. he was rushed to the hospital is that expected to survive. the shooter is still on the loose. a surfer in a south african surfing competition is attacked by a shark and awful it is captured on camera. take a look. professional surfer mick fanning paddled away for his life as a shark pursued him on his surfboard. the competition took place on the eastern cape of south africa. fanning a triple world champion from australia was knocked off the surfboard after competition had begun. he was uninjured thankfully. >> just jumped like a lion and it just kept coming at my board and i was like kicking and screaming.

while we were all writing stories about her several weeks ago she was wondering if she was worthy. >> you know, i'm on top of the world and i should be scoring goals, i should be playing well. >> reporter: but those worries turned around replaced by three world cup winning goals. this welcome home celebration for the delran native was held in voorhees hosted by the medford strikers and universal soccer academy. >> we were so lucky to have you as our hometown hero and role model. playing next to you is a great motivator. simply put carly is an inspiration to somebody like me. not because she is the best in the world but how she became the best in the world. >> reporter: a former philadelphia player and u.s. national teammate of lloyd heather mitts. >> i've never met a teammate, a player that is willing to work harder than carly. >> reporter: mitts also worked with trainer james galanis who has refined lloyd's talents since 2003.

of repeat of today. hot and humid conditions. just try to stay cool if you can. give it a few more days. we're going to get better. not talking about an extended period of dangerous heat. let's take you to the shore. that's going to be a good place to be once again tomorrow. even there talking about temperatures in the upper 80's maybe 90. lot of people hanging off on the boardwalk in ocean city enjoying the sunshine. nice breeze coming coming up off the ocean. that ocean is comfortable in the low and mid 70's. good way to stay cool. let's talk about our temperatures ahead. today's high again 95 degrees officially at the airport. average high is 87. looks like tomorrow same deal. we're going to be in the mid 90's. still around 90 on tuesday. so, make it a little -- may get a little heat wave right there. thursday we see 80's returning. that's going to be the trend through the second half of the week. once we get past tuesday there will be relief in sight and humidity even decreases tuesday. current air temperatures still 94 in philadelphia, 90 allentown, 92 in trenton. mid 80's now down towards the

shore but the humidity is just sticking around. this is wait feels like. mid and upper 90's. still feeling like 100 degrees in dover delaware but hey could be worse. check this out. texas, 105 in houston new orleans 107 in nashville that's what it feels like. more parts of the country dealing with the heat as well. tomorrow still on the oppressive side. once we get to tomorrow, something to look forward to. tuesday on the steamy side but noticeably different with the lower humidity and look at that. throwing some pleasant air on the chart for wednesday and thursday pleasant conditions with the low humidity. pretty quiet right now on storm scan3. we're sitting in some sunshine, just a few clouds but there are some clusters of showers and thunderstorms off to our west. some of those could roll through in the overnight and once again on monday and tuesday. not everybody sees any showers or storm. don't cancel the outdoor plans if you're braving the heat tomorrow. hazy, hot and humid conditions for your monday.

feeling like 100 degrees. the front comes through but really doesn't knock off the heat or humidity. it's the second front that comes through later on tuesday. it will bring another round of some showers and storms but then it brings relief in here wednesday. we get a nice breeze coming in out of the north wednesday afternoon, knocks the temperatures back into the 80's, gets rid of the humidity. rain chances tomorrow on the low side. 20 percent. we'll increase it to about 30 on tuesday, mainly late during the day and then wednesday thursday looks good with 0 percent chance of rain. here we go through the overnight just a few clouds, maybe a spotty shower or thunderstorm kicking off the work week monday looks good in the morning hours into the afternoonly again a stray shower or storm could fire up with all the humidity around. and then tuesday late in the day could see some more carbs and thunderstorms. heat indice values, 10 o'clock still dealing with temperatures like mid and upper 90's. tomorrow once again we'll be feeling like 100 maybe 102 1032 in some spots. overnight scattered storm warm and muggy 78 degrees. monday hot and humid 94 at the

>> ♪ >> welcome back everyone. hundreds of bikers ride from philadelphia to atlantic city today. it's all for a great cause for the 28th annual tour de shore. bikers took off at philadelphia's irish pub on walnut street and crossed the finish line at the original irish pub in atlantic city. this is a 65-mile ride. it raises money for that children in need and they did it on this brutally hot day. it also raises money for the families of fallen first responders in the region. so, we are so happy that they were able to get this done all for such a great cause. we'll be right back. stay with us.
