his is weakening cold front. so shower, isolated thunderstorm to help cool you down can't rule that out later today but not everyone will get hit by that. at this point you might be wishing for it, especially since yesterday when it was so hot. and we've got another one on tap for with you excess sieve heat warnings posted in the red, basically the urban corridor, and then heat advisories everywhere else, here, in the delaware valley, today. where do we stand right now? uh-huh, this tells the story don't you think? 82 degrees at the airport already, in at 80 in wilmington, dover, ac, wildwood trenton list going on, and even warm muggy out in some of the most remote suburbs. this will definitely be a case where you want to just take it easy. when you start off the morning, try to get the outdoor plans in as soon as you can. because at the height of the afternoon, it is just going to be so incredibly uncomfortable outside with the humidity, as well as the heat, combined here, to just make it, again very much insufferable. expecting the daytime high to hit about 95 greets, that's bad enough factor in

humidity, may feel as bad as 100 degrees at some point today. take care, take it easy, it will be a rough one. but we can get through it. so the magic of climate control, erika. >> katie, come on, you're pregnant with twins get inside in the air-conditioning. >> you got it. >> speaking of that, you do want to take care today. justin finch joins us now at logan circle more on how we should take care today. justin? >> erika, good morning yes don't miss judge this heat today. doing so could jeopardize your health. that's why the city rolling out some tips to survive this heat at the national weather service rolls out excessive heat warning. let's take to you video from yesterday on sunday. if you were out you know what to expect. temperatures in the high 990's, plus humidity just makes it feel so much hotter. that is why the city now advising you avoid long exposure to the heat, specifically outdoor strenuous activities, also, saying, to wear light weight clothing also helps too if it is light colored.

also again here, stay hydrated with non-alcoholic beverages. and if you are indeed doors do not be afraid to run the ac, and also, use those fans. also be on the look-out for nausea cramps, headaches mental confusion, because all of those actually are heat symptoms, and also, be on the look-out for our elderly kids and pets as well. most importantly, just find ways to stay cool, however you can, clemente park, fawn they prefer to use the outdoor fountains, take a listen. >> playing a softball game over there and came over here and i feel like i just drop my body temperatures like 5 degrees just like running around in here, it is a hot day today. >> we got another hot one coming out here today also the fountain, outdoor fountain, the spray grounds those might be the spots to head to this afternoon and also tonight. now the corporation for the aging also operating cooling centers for the elderly central northeast blackwell library branch.

tickets available. only 18 regional rail stations will be open the weekend the pope is here, and do you node a pass to get on that train. regular tickets won't work. if you plan to take patco into the city, a one day pass will cost you $5. non-stop service will be offered only at four patco stations. putting everything you need to know on our website cbsphilly.com/papal visit. >> new this morning man shot to death right in front every his father in north philadelphia. the two were at laurence and wing hocking streets late last night when a gunman shot the 21 year old man in the face. he died this morning at temple university hospital. police think he was the intended target but they don't yet know the motive. >> we found spent shell casings feet from his body, which is an indication the shooter stood right to up him and fired the shot point blank range, and then one block away we found two more spent shell casings, right where the father said he chased the shooter to.

>> the father was not hurt. police will check surveillance video from businesses near that scene. >> also, new this morning police are investigating a double shooting in the harrow gate neighborhood. two men were shot in the leg just before 12:30 in the 1800 block of east cornwall street. one man is in critical condition, the other in stable condition. investigators tell us that because of the heat, several neighbors were outside at the time of the shooting and they're currently being questioned. a weapon was recovered at the scene. >> a day of swimming turns tragic along the delaware river. search crews recovered the body after man who disappeared into the river in burlington, new jersey. witnesses say that man tried to swim to a nearby island around 7:00 last night. they have not release that man's identity. >> and in bristol pennsylvania the search is expected to resume for a man who went missing in the delaware river. he went into the river near the bristol war of yesterday morning. marine units search for several hours, an eyewitness described that scene when the man went under. >> the boy was swimming, he

went down, straight down. there is it was a boat, at the same time, kept ongoing and he was saying help, and then another boat was behind him and his girlfriends was saying help him help him. >> marine unit were assisting in the church by burlington city and new jersey state marine units. >> more than two years after the center city building collapse, one of the men accused in the deadly accident could plead guilty this week. sources post to -- close to cbs tell us the crane operator, sean benchop, may plead guilty to involuntary manslaughter at hearing tomorrow morning. six people died in june, 2013, when a brick wall being demolished fell into the roof of the salvation army thrift store. blood tests show benchop had marijuana and prescription narcotics in his system the day of the accident. he faces six counts of thirds degree murder which carry potential life sentence. >> and the search is on for

two suspect in connection with us is pushes fire in south philadelphia. that fire broke out early sunday morning at a building under construction on south juniper streets. the flames damaged four other homes, and forced more than dozen evacuations. one witness says he saw someone go inside that building moments before it caught fire. >> a guy with a black hoodie enters the building g which caught on fire, i seen another guy on the roof, which was you know, so about five minute later, the guy with the hoodie came running out ran east down snyder avenue. as he ran out of the build being two minute later the whole building went up boom like an explosion. >> that building was being renovate intoed eight condos and a business. if you have any information you are asked to call the police. >> history is made overnight. the united states and cube have restored full diplomatic relations for the first time since 1961. it happened at 12:01 a.m. today the cuban flag will fly

bridge right now looking pretty good as you move in the westbound direction toward philadelphia. so really, it is a very easy, monday morning that's exactly what we want to see. katie over to you. >> thank you very much. definitely looking ahead to another very toasty day while may not be heating up too much on the roads just yet already is very, very warm, here in the delaware valley, when it comes to the actual air temperature. factor in the humid that i goes along with it, we look, see how things are really shaping up for us here, actually, as we track two separate frontal boundaries, both kind of weak. they're not enough to really knock the heat away completely in the next few days, but they are enough to get rid of how many at this. something we have going forward. storm scan3 at the moment, see sliver of moisture, notice how much of that fizzled away, but you can make out the front that we were just discussing, then you have also got secondary front crossing through tomorrow. so that's really just sort of the gist of why things are happening the way they are. and meantime, this is somewhat of a stagnant air mass, so air quality alert in effect for today region wide,

it is moderate, not necessarily unhealthy, there is a difference, but if you have got maybe some respiratory illnesses maybe fall into the sensitive category kids, elderly take care today guys. our eyewitness weather health report isn't all that hot here. heat, that's definitely no pun intended there because it is frankly going to be the kind of heat that can be dangerous heat index values, call it dangerous level here, gets to the point where you want to be inside in the cool air as much as you possibly k if you don't have the benefit of air conditioner at home, go to the library, find place where you can just cool down, because this is brutal stuff. 95 degrees today watch for an isolated shower or thunderstorm. that will be the story headed into tonight. but we keep it muggy for youment then the secondary front comes along tomorrow we stay hot at 93 degrees, watch for shower or storm yet again just enough to cool kim of locations down, and then, hey it is still late july. mid upper eight's not uncommon, but the worse of the humidity is going to be

retreating. erika, back to you. >> katie, thank youment some record rainfall to talk about in california out in the dessert there caused bridge to collapse injuring truck driver. take a look right here. 30-foot section of the bridge near palm springs gave way ending up in the flooded water below. a passenger in the truck did manage to escape unharmed. the driver suffered some minor injuries. >> two brother are being called heroes this morning for pulling an elderly woman from her burning car in oregon. that woman drove into a gas pump immediately engulfing her car in flames. when the teen brothers saw the woman trapped they jumped into action. one of the brothers using his bear hands to break her car window. >> i was like this might hurt. but i just have to pull her out. i punched it, then reached in, grabbed her by the shoulder, kind of picked her up, took her out. i was trying not to think just to get out of there as quickly as coy before anything gets worse thank god it all worked out okay. >> oh, thank goodness, now that woman was taken to the
