good afternoon. >> reporter: erika, pat, good afternoon to you both more information on that offers nervous a minute. this just into our news room, philadelphia police have now confirmed the suspect's name who was shot and killed by philadelphia police earlier on today. take a look at this picture his mugshot he was well known to police. this is devon gusher, wanted for murdering a pregnant woman last fall. police say she was an innocent bystander, hit by one of his stray bullet, now he's dead, and officer he got into a gun fight with this morning is recovering. >> philadelphia brothers in blue, rush to the area torresdale hospital, shot while serving arrest warrant to murder suspect fortunately, the officer wearing special body armor meant to protect caring out most dangerous jobs. >> fortunately he did. had it been patrol officer we would be having different discussion, it was low enough where this particular vest has extra flap.

>> shooting unfolded here in northeast philadelphia, just after 6:00 wednesday morning on the 800 block of riverside drive. when swat and homicide went inside a second floor apartment, police say the suspect grabbed an object and ran,. >> the office ever was behind him he spun around striking the officer. >> and the officer fired back killing the suspect. >> had extensive history wanted dollars for murder, in fact murder after woman last fall who was pregnant. >> charles ramsey, many of philadelphia's top brass visited the injured officer in the hospital. they say the 17 year veteran suffered a nasty bruce on his stomach, but not the first time he found himself in mother al danger. >> he has been in swat for some time, the second time he has been shot in the line of cute. >> i now, police have not yet identified that officer who was injured this morning. only again saying he's a 17 year veteran of the force and a married father of two children. he was actually release from the torresdale hospital earlier this morning.

accident snarled traffic this morning on i-295. chopper three over the scene in barrington, new jersey, new jersey state police say that that crash involved several vehicles, in the southbound lanes, shortly after 9:00 a.m. two people were transported for minor injuries. the highway is back open at this hour. a multi alarm fire continues to burn through large warehouse in north brunswick, new jersey. this fire broke out around 2:30 this morning, in the rear of that building, which houses several businesses. authorities say that materials from auto repair shop and plastics with the blaze. two nearby apartment buildings were evacuated as a precaution, one firefighter suffered a hand injury. >> what the warehouse looks like now look at the smoke coming out. fire officials say they plan just to let this fire burn out on it own. and that could last through the evening. well, today is a welcome break from the heat and humidity. we couldn't keep meteorologist, katie fehlinger in the weather center, she begged us, she had to go out to the cbs-3 skydeck right

katy? >> absolutely. these are the kind of days pat, skydeck duty is never a problem. so comfortable outside. and when you step outside you'll feel that difference, by comparison to the last couple of days it has been so steamy, that now it just feels like breath of fresh air. very literally and figure tiffly now we did just come off heatwave. we go ahead and kick things off, quick look at the graphics looking back in time here yes normal high is 87 degrees. granted it is the time of year we see the hottest air in place. we did exceed 90 degrees for three straight days. making it officially heatwave. it was so, so steamy the last few days, that it felt even hotter than that. you remember. how could you forget? now storm storm scan3 clear as a bell, high pressure here, another stay for awhile. that's even better news. practically perfect. in fact, i call it straight upper fiction. sunny, the lightest little breeze, with low humidity, and the summertime warmth. as we look ahead to the next couple of hours, if you get the opportunity make some outdoor plans.

>> wow. >> the trooper handcuffed bland, and she is heard off camera. >> you are about to break my wrist. can you stop? you are about to break my wrist. stop. >> in a affidavit claims bland began swinging her elbows at me and then kick my right leg and shin. twenty-five minutes into the video, images jump several times. a tow truck operator walks off camera, and seconds later he reappears two more times. state officials say the video was not edited, but there may have been some problems when it was up loaded. bland was found dead in her cell three days after she was arrested authorities say she hanged herself with a plastic garbage bag. >> it is a little bit of depression as well as ptsd. >> in march bland admitted on line battling depression, but her family does not think she killed herself. at a memorial bland's mother believes her daughter was murdered. the fbi is investigating. don champion, cbs-3 "eyewitness news".

>> rough weather last flight in new jersey. >> two new jersey state police crews struck by lightning on the garden state parkway. those cars were hit while they were parked in a construction zone, in the southbound lanes in middle township. one trooper was transport today atlantic city medical center in pomona as precautionary measure. neither trooper suffered serious injuries. >> take a look at this, this is eyewitness cam photo by bill madison he sent it to us shows avalon beach patrol boat split in half. shore storms can be fierce. >> katie always says if you hear thunder head inside. that's the reason why. >> even the pop up thunderstorms, always going to be lightning when you hear thunder. you can't have one without the other. so i think it might be common misconception. if you hear thunder, yes there is lightning around. so that's why we always say and i know i sound like broken record, go inside. safety first. >> actually want to take you out here first and for most to look back in time.

actually going to take a look at a time lapse video that was sent into us from one of the gold star eyewitness weather watchers from our network. timely -- actual limb time lapse, sent into us from williamstown new jerseyment look at the storm clouds. eventually you will start to seat raindrops flick on the camera lens, the trees start to shake and this was a really nasty thunderstorm, there goes. this happened between 8:30 and 9:00 last night then as quickly as it began it all got out of there. just going to show how quickly these storms can strike, then be completely gone, but certainly pacca punch when they come through. time of year for t front that helped your at the in, way out to sea high pressure since taken its place in for beautiful weather as a result, than said, off to the south is where the tail end of that front is draped at this point. so reason i bring this up, switched over to the tropical satellite for a reason there is front actually a lot of fronts this time of year, have

roll difficult time completely clearing the southeastern us. so there is a chance as we draw in some moisture out across southeastern us, we end up with tropical development. now at this point, no model is trying to bring anything up the east coast but something we're watching, certainly since we've had such limited activity in the tropics of the atlantic so far this season something i want to mention. you can actually make out draw the line where the front is cleared out to, basically where the orange starts on the contour map where the worse of the heat and humidity remains at this point. for us pretty much being wiped cleanment like we have clean slate here humidity gone, dew points have dropped from yesterday hat evening, 07 degrees on dew point temperature, means it was awfully steamy. you stepped outside, you know what i am talking b but we have since seen significant drop off right now at 54 degrees dew point. lower the dew point, the dryer the air. so it is a good hair day in short. beautiful down in south philly right now, again, you have got
