we were told he was shot in the head and neck. a second man about 28 years old was taken to aria torresdale by police. he was shot in the back. last check he was in surgery. his condition was unknown. and in fair hill, at 10:45 about quarter to 11:00 a at west clear field and north howard street a 20 year-old man was found fatally shot six times he was shot, twice he was in the head. he was outside with a woman when he was approached by a male shooter the shooter got away. the victim was later pronounced officially dead at temple university hospital. in north philadelphia, two scenes here on the 100 block of colognea a man was found dead and believed to be between 25 abe 30 years old and he was found just after 1:00 a.m. nearby on the 100 block of susquehanna a car was found shot, also police found a 15 year-old boy was graced in his arm likely by a stray bullet. he was taken to st. christopher's and we did speak

to police about this busy night for officers and detectives and here's what they have to say this morning lets take a listen. >> at this time the philadelphia police are investigating this as three separate shootings, 100 block of west susquehanna black, 100 block of colona street and 22 hundred block of harris street. there were multiple cameras at west susquehanna but we don't know if they have captured the incident. >> reporter: looking at this latest scene here in tacony, police still have the corner of unruh under heavy surveillance looking for surveillance video as well as gun casing is here on the scene. that is where a man was found dead this morning and a second man was found severely wounded. he was taken to aria torresdale and at last check was in surgery n all five people shot. three of them fatally. tonight if you have any tips from police they are looking to hear from you. we are life from tacony, i'm

justin finch for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". >> justin, thanks for the update. a prison guard is recovering after he was stabbed by a inmate, that prompted a a lock down yesterday at curran-fromhold correctional facility in northeast philadelphia. that guard is in stable condition at aria torresdale hospital. authorities haven't said yet just what led to that stabbing, this is the same prison pope francis will visit during his stay in philadelphia. a philadelphia police officer is out of the hospital after he is shot in the line of duty. police say the officer was attempted to arrest the the suspect yesterday morning at north brook apartment complex on woodhaven road. investigators say that devon gushard shot the officer. police return fire and killed him. he was wanted in the killing of the pregnant woman last year. special swat team body arm or saved that officer's life. >> this particular vest has an extra flap that also down and that is what caught the round. had he been a regular patrol officer he might not have been

as lucky. >> reporter: the officer who has been on the force for 17 years was treated for a bruce near his stomach. the cbs-3 i team has been doing some digging in the suspect's background. devon gushard was no strange tore law enforcement he was arrested in 2006, and 2012 on criminal charges. he was considered a fugitive from justice as, megan doto last september. for ten months authorities were on the hunt for him. a search that came to that violence event. no word were police could not track him down previously. yesterday ikea issued a safety warning for 27 million dressers and chests after tipped over furniture made by that retailer kills two children. one of those children were colin of west chester. he died in february 2014 when an ikea dresser tipped over and killed him. his family is now suing the furniture giant but their attorney says too little, too late. >> a problem a concern that is well known and it is well
