"eyewitness news" reporter david spunt is outside the eatery right now with the details of this investigation. david? >> reporter: ukee, chef alex opened the restaurant a little over a year ago his bio has been removed from the website in just the last few hours. this the government's case against him. tonight i have to be honest with you this document is tough to read. for customers everything seemed normal friday night at crow and pitcher in rittenhouse square. the employees are still come to go grips after co owner and head chef alex was picked up for his alleged involvement with child porn. >> how do you expect something like that. >> michael franco and alex opened the place just over a year ago. authorities arrested him on monday but his colleague just found out late friday afternoon. >> the last three hours have been like a tailspin. you know, i haven't seen him for the whole week. >> reporter: according to federal documents obtained by "eyewitness news". cappssso allegedly sexually

abused five-year-old girl and had the pictures to prove it. the niece of one of his friends according to authority. the paper work describes him texting undercover police officer in washington, d.c. who claimed to have nine-year-old daughter. the undercover officer told him he had permission to touch the daughter. text messages paint a disturbing picture. according to court documents the undercover agent said cool, what all you looking to do, i do have a few limits with her. today paso allegedly responded oh i'd be happy just to watch. but will go as far as you allow. what are the boundaries? >> the rest of the covering is too graphic to share. >> i can't believe that somebody who runs a restaurant in my neighborhood -- i can't even wrap my mind around it. >> rows sally lives in the neighbor and has spent time inside cap paso's restaurant. >> children come by here all the time.

>> reporter: officers arrested him at his collingswood home things were quiet outside the home friday night. >> you know we really became like a family. so it's hitting us hard, and you know i think now we're going to band together and continue doing what we're doing. >> reporter: alex cap paso will face a judge in washington d.c. according to this federal court document alex cap paso admitted to distributing child pornography but said the images were from the internet he did not take those images. we are still waiting that hear back from his legal council reporting in rittenhouse square, david spunt cbs3 "eyewitness news". >> david, thank you. in other news tonight accuseed killer a drexel university graduate is behind bars but some are still living in fear. authorities say the former handyman had access to the victim's apartment even though he lost his job and had a lengthy criminal history. our natasha brown joins us now from police headquarters with more on this story. natasha? >> well, ukee, homicide detectives worked around the clock to try to solve this case as quickly as possible news of

an arrest tonight brings closure to those who knew the 27-year-old victim. >> i mean he's monster and we're very happy to get him off the streets. >> reporter: this is the face of the monster police are describing. 56-year-old career criminal james harris now charged with the murder and sexual assault of 27-year-old jasmine wright. >> he's got 31 priors, um, back in '82 he was arrested for killing his own father. he's been arrested several times for sexual assault. several robberies. several burglaries. >> reporter: the recent drexel graduate was found beaten strangled and sexually assaulted last week inside her third floor apartment in a 200 block of south 50th street. with witness accounts coupled with dna and fingerprints led police to their prime suspect harris who work as hand man in the victim's building. he had been fired a week prior to the murder but was last seen in entering the building july july 16th 30 minutes before the victim. >> he broke in to her apartment. she came in about their minutes

after he was inside of the apartment, she was on her cell phone talking to her mother who lived in virginia, at that time he attacked her. >> reporter: police are still trying to figure out why he still had keys to the building. a question that haunts this resident who says he lives in another building owned by the same man who own the property along 50th street. he didn't want to be identified. >> if have you some kind of business and you have people you're renning to you should have a system or procedure that you do prior to you hiring handy people you know like handy men o*s or maintenance guys. if not anybody can come in here. >> it's a terrible thing. back in jasmine wright's neighborhood residents grapple with grief and gratitude tide with news of an arrest. a memorial continues to grow honoring a young woman who's life was tragically cut too short. >> i'm grateful that the mother and the father has closure. thank you in this matter. you know, somebody is off the

streets that did harm to more than one person. >> reporter: will police say right now harris is not being cooperative with investigators. they have still not uncovered a metif in this case. meantime he is facing a lengthy list of charges including murder, rape robbery burglary and other related offenses. that's the very latest for now reporting live here at police headquarters tonight, natasha brown cbs3 "eyewitness news". >> natasha, thank you for that. we're learning more tonight about the gunman behind a deadly louisiana theater shooting. investigators today collected more evidence from the movie theater in lafayette. about 20 minutes into the film train wreck 59-year-old john houser stood up and opened fire killing two people and injuring nine others before taking his own life. houser had been treated for mental illness when he was young young. he was evicted from a rental home last year and has been described as a drifter. his hotel room was also searched searched. >> we found wigs and glasses and disguises basically in his room.

his vehicle had a switched license tag on it. it is apparent that he was intent on shooting and then escaping. >> 21-year-old macy bro and 33-year-old jillian johnson were killed. we now know the identity of a philadelphia swat officer wounded in a shoot out. officer frank sis whelan took a shot through his bullet proof vest while executeing a search warrant wednesday. authorities say murder suspect devon g u.s. hard was killed in shoot out with police at a northeast philadelphia apartment apartment. officer whelan was check out at the hospital for a bruce to his stomach and then was released. expect traffic detours to last for weeks as camden gets ready to demolish a fixture of ski skyline starring tomorrow commerce building built in 1965 and hail as a sign of camden's progress at the time but now the property at broadway and federal streets will be turned into a parking lot. demolition is expected to take about two weeks. during that time streets all

in 64 days pope francis will arrive in philadelphia. it is sure to be one of the biggest events in our city's history. the pontiff's visit has sparked a rental crack down. as "eyewitness news" reporter diana rocco tells you some hoping to cash in on out of town visitors are finding they could be out of luck. many throughout center city and beyond have already listed a condo or apartment expecting big bucks for the pope's visit. some asking more than $1,000 a night. >> we have raised the daily rate about 500% to see if it's something we can get. >> craig beer man manages a south philly building he legally posted a building on air b and b and so far it's been two months with no bites. everybody is saying they can get 500 or a thousand dollars for this and that, um, is mistaken because i'm out there and i can see that that's not really happening. >> i look at all sorts of web sites most notably air b and b it's very easy to find them

back on "eyewitness news" with a geyser shooting three stories into the air. this happened today in brooklyn. a huge broader water main burst forcing police to close the street in both directions. it took crews almost two hours to shut the water off. no injuries were reported. well tonight airline are denying they jacked up fares in the aftermath of the deadly amtrak derailment in philadelphia. department of transportation is investigateing. officials sent letters to delta american, united southwest and jet blue today asking for information related to the legs. the may 12th derailment in philadelphia disrupted service along the northeast corridor for almost a week. fiat chrysler is recalling

1.4 million cars and trucks in the united states after hackers were able to take control of a jeep over the internet. the company will update software to insulate the vehicles from being remotely controlled. the recall affects vehicles with 8.4-inch you connect touch screens. national highway traffic safety administration is launching an investigation to see iffy yacht chrysler's recall will be affected. the pop up beer garden at the center of a nasty battle between its owner and philadelphia officials will reopen tomorrow. it's been shut down twice in two weeks. you're in a couple of spots. down the shore you get that breeze off the water put thon sweatshirt to walk the boards here in ocean city but things are looking good. look like the ferris wheel shut down early for friday night. lights are not on there but the stores are still lit up, and still pretty pack here at 11:19 on the ocean city boardwalk. storm scan3 is very quiet right now. nothing going on across the northeast. the showers and storms over southern new england have fallen apart and as we head to the south we see just a couple of showers and thunderstorms in south florida. 92 portions of the deep south that's something to watch i'll tell you more about that in a moment. let's get through the near term. 74 at the airport. 70 in allentown a cool 59 in mount pocono. 69 in reading. already down to 65 in millville. once again we are the warmest spot here in philadelphia mainly thanks to that urban heat island effect all that blacktop and concrete retaining heat from the day. right now it's 90 in little rock. 81 degrees in oklahoma city. 90 in dallas all the heat is here it will be living north and east as we head through the weekend into next week.

meaning the comfort is on borrowed time in fact the dew point has jumped up to 62 degrees in philadelphia. most spots are still in the mid 50s. i'm calling the pleasant but getting closer to the nod bad range and what follows the not bad range back to steamy by the next next week we'll talking about oppressive conditions with regard to humidity at least once a again we'll see dew points back up near 70 degrees starting monday into tuesday and that makes it feel 10 to 15 degrees hotter than the thermometer indicates. >> high pressure overhead tomorrow. sunday upper 80s near 90. more humid watch for a stray afternoon thunderstorm. you can see how the humidity is going to start to increase each day. tomorrow still on the pleasant side. getting closer to humid though. humid on sunday and then we're up towards steamy by tuesday. let's take look at our tropical satellite. all this red and orange here that's convection showers and storms blowing up this stalled frontal boundary will be the focus of potential tropical requests late next week.
