indictment. u.s. representative fattah is denying any wrongdoing. good evening i'm ukee washington. we have team three coverage. iteam is digging deeper to the indictment. we will hear from charlotte hoffman in just a moment but first "eyewitness news" reporter syma chowdhry is live in overbrook where fattah's local office is located syma. >> reporter: ukee, this 85 page indictment out lanes charges against congressman fattah and four associates. the accusations paint fattah as a man who would go through great lengths to personally profit off of campaign fund, and federal grants, and to use that money for himself and his family. >> engaging in a racketeering, conspiracy to further their political and finance interest. >> reporter: twenty-nine count indictment against congressman chaka fattah and four associates outlined allegations of political corruption. a federal investigation unveils five a alleged schemes that include miss appropriating, charitable, federal and campaign fund. officials say that in one of the schemes fattah borrowed a

million-dollar, for his failed mayoral campaign, in 2007. instead of paying back debt with his own money fattah is accused of using money and federal grant that was meant for a non-profit organization he founded. in another case of campaign debt fattah is accused of trying to pay back $130,000 to a political consultant by trying to apply for a federal grant, under false terms. >> hopefully getting a 15 million-dollar grant for an entity that doesn't exist. >> reporter: fattah is accused of using campaign money to pay off his son's student loans and hiding a bribe and using money to buy a vacation home. fattah's lawyer tells "eyewitness news" he was aware of the nature of these allegations for some time now and he plans to fight the charges. fattah spoke with reporters outside his d.c. office. >> this is not the deflategate, all right. this is a normal issue of which there are allegations

after a very long running eight year investigation. >> reporter: investigating started in march 2013 but covers several years of allege corruption and elaborate cover up. >> to further personal and political as preparations, and, personally even rich themselves at the expense of the very people that they serve. >> reporter: fattah stepped down as chair of the house appropriations committee this afternoon but he does not plan to resign, from office. the congressman remains free pending a court date that has yet to be scheduled. we are live from overbrook syma chowdhry for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". >> syma, thank you. lets talk more about this. charlotte hoffman has been digging in the 85 page indictment and joins us to shed light on how fattah got away with the alleged crime. >> reporter: ukee, as we heard syma say, this is a a 29 count indictment that includes a number of alleged schemes among them, most costly and shocking allegation fattah stole from a charity meant to

help students in order to repay a one million-dollar loan. charges against fattah and four other an associate stem from fattah's failed run for mayor in 2007. according to the indictment, fattah and his associate secretly borrowed one million-dollar from a wealthy businessman, to help fund fattah's mayoral campaign, which fattah lost, $400,000 was unused, and return to the donor leaving a $600,000 balance, still owed to his supporter. feds alleged fattah repaid that balance by stealing money from a charity that he founded and controlled. that charity is the educational advancement a alliance and was supposed to help at risk children with a college education. >> they funnel money through the educational alliance in order to pay those funds back. that is not proper use of government fund. these type of criminal acts betray public trust and under mine faith in government.

south, couple showers and thunderstorms still lining autopsy long the coast of southern delaware, kent, sussex counties especially. they are starting to weaken but these showers and storms have been in that region for quite sometime. you can see cold front slicing through great lakes and very well defined center of low pressure, in central canada, that will get in here tomorrow and bring us threat for gusty thunderstorms. flood advisory in sussex county delaware that includes small count of delaware. watch out for flooding on the roadways there otherwise an excessive heat warning until entire area until 6:00 o'clock tomorrow evening and anything shaded in magenta color with heat index around 100 degrees tomorrow afternoon. right now it is 90 at the airport but feels a whole lot hotter then 90 right here. ninety-six sounds a little bit more logical. that is what it feels like when you factor in the humidity. 93 degrees in trent on. it feels like 92 in at atlantic city. humidity will get worse before it gets better. we're talking about dew points in the mid 70's into the day

tonight, we are hearing from the victim's mother who has been waiting more than three months, for justice. "eyewitness news" reporter todd quinones, joins us now with that exclusive interview from the accident investigation division in brewerytown, todd? >> reporter: ukee that lit 48 year-old boy darted right not to traffic. investigators tell me had the drivers stopped immediately she likely would not have been charged. do you have anything to say? only cbs-3 was there as tameika mason turn herself into the the accident investigation division at the philadelphia police department. investigators alleged that the 27 year-old was behind the wheel of the suv that ran over and killed four year-old latif wilson, his mom called him tiffy. >> my oldest son he said where is latif. >> he is in heaven. unaudible. he is my backbone, you know, and i'm very grateful that

he -- very grateful that he is strong, that i don't have to be, because it is just crazy. >> reporter: latif was hit in april in the 1600 block of south 57th street in kingsessing. >> she hit him she called. she ran him over. >> reporter: mason, from sharon hill, is facing several serious charges. she said nothing as she passed by our camera. >> was arrested and charged with vehicular homicide, leaving the scene of the accident while someone died and homicide by vehicle. >> reporter: on wednesday latif a's mom came back to the scene of his death for the first time since he was struck. she told me that she's relieved an arrest was made but that her two sons still have questions that she cannot answer. >> he said mommy why was she just killed, you know, my baby, and not even apologize not even say sorry to us. >> reporter: police say mason has no prior criminal record

and she had a legitimate driver's license and insurance and they say that they are not sure why she allegedly drove away that day. reporting live tonight from north philadelphia, todd quinones cbs-3 "eyewitness news". todd thank you. in other news tonight police are saying a personal dispute led to a shooting today at the delaware park race track. the the suspect was a jockey allegedly shot a trainer in the stables area suspect then fled the scene but was apprehended in a nearby apartment building. the victim was taken to christiana hospital in unknown condition. lets look at this surveillance video police in plymouth township montgomery county are looking for two suspects who tried to steel a what will fret a woman's purse. it happened saturday at pizzeria noonan on ridge pike. the suspects did not get a wallet about if you police said they went to a market where they stole a purse. still to come on "eyewitness news" we will introduce you to a local guitar maker gaining national attention. and down the shore where triple crown winner american

keeps shore points cooler. here's coal front for topping tracking through great lakes and portions of ohio. this will get here producing showers and thunderstorms as we get into tomorrow afternoon. it will cut back the humidity that we have been feeling for the the past day or two. temperatures right now though still very hot and humid. only 90 in philadelphia i say only 90. that is not that farrah above average for this time of the year but very steamy outside. feels like upper 90's. and with all this moisture as this front approaches showers and storms will pop up. some models trying to bring in a few showers early tomorrow morning. certainly some fog could be around. be careful heading out of the door tomorrow morning. the showers and storms will pop up in the late afternoon. here's 3:00 p.m. as this front pushes through. these storms with the threat for gusty wind. they look like they have had a boeing shape to them as line moves down the shore right around 6:00 and trying to clear out tomorrow evening and skies clear with full sunshine into the day on friday. but what to expect for your thursday afternoon? oppressive humidity, dew

points in the low to mid 70's in that insufferable range all day. the showers and storms mainly in the afternoon and evening. we cannot rule them out of the morning. anyone of these storms or showers could produce heavy downpours and gusty wind. here's the the good news. dew points in the 70's through tomorrow morning. 75-degree dew point in the afternoon but watch as i front comes through, due points drop and friday dew point are back in the 50's and 60's. it will feel more comfortable once this humidity plumet one more day of oppressive weather and then we will drop off the cliff by the end of the week. lets take a quick look at tonight, dropping down to p-6 degrees with isolated shower warm and in muggy. hot and humid thursday gusty afternoon and evening thunderstorms at 93. you're witness weather seven day forecast and shore cast, well, could be worse. ninety's continue through tuesday. that will make it a seven day heat wave, but like we said earlier not all 90-degree days are created equal. friday's 90 will feel hundred times better, thursday is 93, just because of the reductionness humidity and dry
