"eyewitness news" reporter david spunt is in our satellite center right now with a closer look at

the charges against the influential democrat. david. >> reporter: ukee the congressman mentioned numerous times in this 85 page indictment indictment. he denies any wrongdoing but federal officials they believe and they are confident that he will be behind bars at some point. >> the conduct that congressman fattah engaged in undermines public safe and government. >> blunt words from us attorney zane david hem injury who laid out this case against congressman chaka fattah. >> fattah and his associates engaged in a coverup lasting years in an effort to avoid detection. >> reporter: the 29 count indictment tells the story of what authorities call schemes. some words included in the do you mean, fraud bribery, sham and conceal. the congressman who went to washington in 1995, is accused of borrowing a million dollars from a wealthy supporter and only paying some of it back using money and federal grants from a non-profit charity he

runs. he's also accused of using 23 grand in campaign money to pay off his son's student loans. the indictment mentions fattah's wife local news anchor renee' is a fault fattah she is not facing charges but authorities allege she falsely reported the sale of her porsche convertible. the congressman addressed the indictment from the u.s. capitol capitol. >> this is not deflate-gate, all right? this is a normal issue in which there are allegations after a very long running eight year investigation. >> reporter: his friend and long time political ally mayor nutter had this to say. >> ultimately he has to decide what he wants to do and how he engages with his constituents. >> reporter: fattah did step down from his leadership post on the appropriation committee but plans to stay in office. brushing off questions about the investigation. >> i've not been distracted yet. i'll keep doing my work. thank you. >> reporter: four of the congressman's associate also

night with another round of dangerous heat coming tomorrow. that heat could trigger some storms. kate bilo is on the sky deck to break it all down for you. kate. >> ukee, even tonight at 11:00 o'clock still feeling very warm and very humid in the city of philadelphia, unfortunately that's going to continue all night and right through tomorrow as well before we get a little bit of relief if not from the temperatures at least from the humidity. definitely feeling a little steamy and stagnant out here right now it will feel like steambath when you head out the door tomorrow morning. let's take a quick look at storm scan3. we had a few showers pop up to our south this afternoon right now though nothing going on things are pretty clear but as we zoom out, you can see a line of showers and storms moving through portions of ohio and into kentucky and that's the front that will cross our area late tomorrow afternoon. as we a wait the arrival of that front though winds out of the southwest bringing a lot of heat and humidity and excessive heat warning remains in effect. that goes until 6:00 o'clock tomorrow evening with heat index values in that pink shaded area including the city of philadelphia around 100 degrees

at the height of tomorrow afternoon. still in the 80s right now. it's 82 at the airport. 80 degrees in allentown and 80 in wilmington. it feels hotter than that, though feels like 87 still right now even under the cover of darkness in philadelphia and i can a test to that here on the sky deck. so we say it all the time but i can't say it enough. ways to beat the heat, drink the water especially if you'll be outside. try to avoid strenuous activity and direct sunlight if you can. and of course keep kids and pets cool and out of those hot cars and check on anyone you know that may need some help keeping themselves cool during tomorrow's dangerous heat. a little bit of better news for friday and the weekend and then i'll tell when you the heat wave comes to an end and track tomorrow's storms coming up when i join you unside. ukee, back over to you. >> the trade winds are blowing. rumors arounded cole happen mels have reached a new high. is the beloved lefty on the move. lesley joins us with new developments. >> you don't want to hear this. >> i know. >> you like him a lot. >> i did. >> it's happening last night ruben amaro traded jonathan

tonight. report. >> top neighbors feel safer, to help train them, talk to them about ways we can prevent crime. >> reporter: improving community relations and neighbors feel safe was the focus of the district attorney's community walk through northern liberties wednesday. he was shaking hands and talking to neighbors. >> what happened in ferguson what happened in staten island what happened in baltimore we don't want that to happen in philadelphia and it doesn't happen by reacting when there's a crisis. we're trying to be a presence in philadelphia and all of our communities every day. >> reporter: da seth williams led a team of assistant district attorneys. they were joined by the philadelphia police department and community leaders as they walk through the piazza and restaurants throughout the area. asking people about their concerns and letting them know they're at work. >> it's good. it's good. >> the crime rate in northern liberties has been increasing. so i feel like safety is an issue around this area. >> i think he's doing a terrific

we're back on "eyewitness news" at 11:00 with surveillance video from montgomery county. police in plymouth township are looking for two suspects who tried to steal a wallet from a woman's purse. it happened saturday at pizza uno on ridge pike. he they didn't get a bullet they wept to a market where they stole purse. prosecutors released body cam video from university of cincinnati police officer now facing a murder charge. officer ray surrendered to authorities today chooch charged for the murder of 43 year old

samuel shot dead during a traffic stop tepp days ago. the body camera video shows the leave pulling the man over for missing front license plate. he hasn't the officer then a bottle of gin that was in the car and says, he doesn't have his driver's license on him. when the officer asked him to get out of the car the man tried to drive off. and the officer fired one shot. >> people don't get shot for a traffic stop. unless they're violent toward the police officer. and he wasn't. >> the problem with the video was going to vindicate our brother. >> the prosecutor says the officer's claim that the car dragged him is not true. the officer will be are a rain tomorrow morning. a possible break in the case for missing malaysian flight 370 debris washed up on an island in the indian ocean much fifty three gats are examineing a piece of aircraft wink found on reunion island just off the east coast of africa. authorities say it's too early to know if it's part of the

missing plane but it appears to be from a boeing 777. flight 370 disappeared last march. a giant snake is caught in the ever grades national park in florida and night we have a picture to prove it. take look at this. this python measured 18 feet 3-inches. now if case you're wondering the largest ever snake captured in florida was 18 feet 7-inches. pythons are not native to the everglades and the snake was removed to protect other wildlife and it was later euthanized. on the cbs3 health watch energy drinks are a quick and easy way to get a boost of energy but they can be dangerous especially when people drink too much too many. health reporter stephanie stahl has the story of how one young father learn the hard way. >> like millions of people steve pop son depended on energy drinks he was downing four to five a day. >> i needed the energy to get me through the day. >> one night the 27-year-old's heart starting raceing at a hospital he was diagnosed with

>> pretty night night out there. just out there on the sky deck. you just can't help but look at the beautiful moon outside. in fact chopper three was up earlier taking beautiful shots of the moon for us. take look at this. gorgeous. now this friday by the way much of the world will be seeing a blue moon and did you know that blue moon has nothing to do with the color of the moon. during most years the earth experiences 12 full moons one in each month but in years like this year we have 13 full moons that extra lunar display gets the label of blue moon. second full moon in any given any month. friday a blue moon the last time we'll have blue moon until 218 maybe make plans celebrate the blue moon if you've been pointing at that special someone out on date blue moon could be your in. throw a little bit of that moon trivia their way as well what a gorgeous from chopper three. looks telescopic. beautiful. take look at the boardwalk plaza camera in rehoboth beach it was beautiful this morning.

set this time lapse into play you can see started out the day with lots of people on the beach walking on the boardwalk looking good and then all of a sudden a major thunderstorm came through this area dumped rain for couple of hours then it did clear out in the evening but we actually had a flood advisory for portions of the delaware beaches earlier today. that has since expired and you can see out there nothing happening right now. skies are clear jut a few clouds drifting by and beautiful to check out that moon which is growing and getting fuller of course as we head toward friday. here's our next storm system it's all the way up here in central can in a dat front extends all the way down like this. a couple of showers and storms now fizzling out over ohio those are the storms that will come through our area during the day tomorrow. temperatures right now still very warm. we're hanging on to the 80s philadelphia allentown wilmington. there could be pockets of the city that don't drop much below 80 degrees even overnight tonight. so what to expect for tomorrow? a couple of scattered showers perhaps in the morning. a lot of cloud cover out there. that may limb the temperature a bit so not quite as hot today but the humidity will actually be higher and then look at this

line of storms that comes here in the afternoon. 4:00 p.m. storms off to the north and west. they come through the city between five and 6:00 to really slow down that evening commute. and then moving down the shore by about 8:00 o'clock before we clear thing out by this time tomorrow night but some of these could storms could pack a punch. they placed north and west suburbs in a marginal threat for severe weather meaning any storm could produce downpours gusty winds and frequent lightning. certainly areas south and east of there could see any of those threats as well. but the good news is we'll have dew points in the 70s tomorrow. in the mid to upper 70s. that is unsufferable humidity. once the front comes through the dew points drop dew point at 4:00 p.m. friday 58 degrees. that will feel so much better. not all 90-degree days are created equal. we cut the humidity in half for friday. , saturday and sunday. still on the humid side much it is summer week and but as oppressive as today and tomorrow will be.
