center kate. >> reporter: these storms are moving out of philadelphia we are seeing clearing, blue skies trying to peak out from the city on west but still getting heavier rain over new jersey, and you can see nasty storms over portions of maryland and down into virginia. this extend up in to new england as well. it is a pretty potent squall line moving through the region. got news is there is dryer air pushing in behind it and while it does stay warm for friday and the weekend it will not be quite as unbearable humid as today and yesterday have been. still some embedded steady rain pushing through burlington county from ocean down to burlington and gala way area heavy rain. this will get in absecon by 65:00 p.m. if you you are down the shore within the next 15 to 20 minutes we expect that rape to get into atlantic city and toward beach haven lbi area as well and toms river where you can see north of toms river thunderstorm happening right now. the flood advisory that was in effect for the city and delaware county in to wilmington has been canceled, is there another one following this line of storms, small

mother wants people to see the child's injuries and photos are very upsetting. >> that is correct. >> reporter: certainly they are disturbing, investigators here believe that the intruder may have been attempting a burglary, when a little girl spotted her. lit 58 year-old girl had a temporal lobe fracture, hairline fracture in her skull and broken jaw that will prevent her from eating solid food for six weeks. there are other pictures of her injuries that are too graphic to show on television. she was found by her mom neighbor in her backyard, bleeding, and semi conscious. >> something i will never forget, i thought that was in the my daughter back there but a lifeless child. >> reporter: she woke up tuesday morning only to find her little girl missing. >> i went into a immediate state of panic. everything else after that was screams of worry. >> the level of violence at the even of the day no matter how we define it, it is beyond the pale. >> reporter: philadelphia police say girl recounts seeing an intruder hiding

behind a closet in an upstairs hallway. >> male took hold of her literally lifted her up, at some point carried her outside of the property and there physically assaulted her. >> reporter: she was thrown, beaten and stumped on. investigators believe the suspect broke in the home on the 2600 block of north hutchinson street, through a side window. >> if you can see her it is terrible that somebody could do this to a person. the just horrible. >> reporter: detectives questioned at least one suspect from the north philadelphia neighborhood but he was later released. at the scene investigators collected potential dna evidence that could be used to facilitate an arrest and police have stepped up patrols in the neighborhood. the five-year old girl remains in stable condition at st. christopher's hospital for children. the good news in all this her mom believes that she should be able to make a full recovery. reporting live from police special victims unit, todd quinones for cbs-3 "eyewitness

news". >> todd, please keep us update. a delaware woman is charge in the death of the infant at her day care. this is suspect 51 year-old valerie handy a ten month-old child was found dead in handy's little deciples day care on davis road in millsboro in january. case has been ruled a homicide. handy is behind bars right now. man in cape may city has been arrested and charged with aggravated sexual contact luring a child and endangering welfare of the child. police say 68 year-old frank sandy thompson was an assistant scout master with the boy scout troop in west cape may. through a tip police learned thompson was grooming a male for sexual purposes. he sexually assaulted another juvenile several years ago. police are looking to see if drag racing was behind a one car crash that killed three young people in northeast philadelphia the driver survived but another passenger is fighting for his life. "eyewitness news" reporter syma chowdhry spoke to the aunt of one teenage victim. >> i mean she's 18 years old

she had her whole life ahead of her. >> reporter: karen lee came to the scene to say a prayer after learning her niece sabrina marie rose was kill in the car crash. it happened on sandmeyer lane in bustleton. five people were traveling in the 2007 acura at a high speed. police say that the 20 year-old driver lost control going around the bend, the car hit the curve and flew airborne in the tree splitting the vehicle in half. sabrina, along with the 17 year-old girl and a 17 year-old boy were eject. the girls died at the scene the boy was taken to jefferson hospital. a 20 year-old passenger was found dead in the back seat. the driver left the scene but showed up at the hospital, hour later. >> they are young. we all make in mistake. we have all been there. i get it. i don't blame anybody. >> reporter: road is known as a spot for drag racing but officials cannot confirm if that is the case here. they do believe speed was the the cause investigators say another vehicle was driving

close to the car that crashed and they are hoping to speak to that driver. >> they have a responsibility to give us some information what they saw because they did see the crash. >> reporter: sabrina was one of eight children, she was heading into her senior year at george washington high school and looked forward to go to go college. >> that smile and her amazingly gorgeous eyes, and i love that she had absolutely everybody love her. >> reporter: seventeen year-old victim is in critical condition at jefferson hospital suffered severe head leg and pelvic injuries. as for the the driver it is too early to determine if he will face charges but police say there is no indication he was under influence or impaired. we're in center city syma chowdhry for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". new at 6:00 many beach goers had their run ins with sea gulls trying to snatch your food but what one man did down the shore went too far according to some. eyebrows and tempers. >> i was like why is this guy grabbing a bird out of the air and killing it. that is die cot i can. >> reporter: julie hepp said she and others stared in terrifying disbelief as a man killed a sea gull at the beach at 39th street in ocean city. >> he take a board and snacks ate and breaks its wing. when it falls he grabs it and snapped its neck and threw it in the trash can you witnessed a all of this. >> yes crazy. >> reporter: ocean city police came, man whose name they won't release said he swatted sea gull with the towel to defend his daughter. he took it out of the water and put it in the trash so kid wouldn't see it drowned and made no mention of the snapping its neck but that is not the story the relatives got when she confronted the man. >> his reply was i had to put it out of its misery. i kill deer all the time. >> reporter: no secret sea gulls air aggressive when it comes to poaching food. >> i have seen them fly into fries, several times tack

people, they are out of control. >> reporter: diamond family from boston said, when you drop pizza on the boardwalk prior to battle the sea gulls. >> we are just joking ever year they get more aggressive if bird were attacking one of my kids yes hit the board if i injured the board i might have put it out of misery. >> reporter: it is illegal to feed sea gulls under federal and state law and it is illegal to kill them. >> i don't necessity why the the police didn't find them for scarring children that saw it. >> reporter: ocean city police say because sea gulls are considered migration bird this falls under jurisdiction of the new jersey fish and wild life. representative from that agency tells me they are investigate bug no words on any fines or an arrest. in ocean city, cleve bryan cbs-3 "eyewitness news". today we are hearing from the son of the congressman chaka fattah about his father's alleged corruption. eleven term senator is charged with miss appropriating hundreds of thousands of doll with false documents and schemes. chaka fattah junior spoke to

we have that storm off shore lot of times we will get reflection and cool sunsets. so be on nice sunset alert if you see sun right now. they look presser later this evening. i want to show you photo earlier showing these ominous skies from weather watchers, walter in newark, you can see those dark cloud rolling in, as the storms approach. we have had heavy rain over northern delaware, that has cleared out skies are clearing, behind this line, and good news for anyone going to the phillies game, things looking okay as those storms move away. we did make it to a heat wave. i was war filed we would hit those three days because today we had so much included cover out there temperatures just barely did manage to climb in the lower 90's before showers came through and knocked us down to the 70's and 80's. it is a heat wave number three, three days in the 90's and we may add four more days to that. maybe even five. friday saturday, sunday, monday, tuesday. that will make it an eight day heat wave.
