like a ghost town. start off the morning showing these cameras because it is good news. we need it on a friday. for those in new jersey, up 295 northbound, at creek road, you can see headlights out there but oddly enough, it looks like this early and remains fairly steady. forty-two freeway north bound looking great right now. i-95 northbound at 452 you can see just nice steady flow of headlights coming toward the cameras but looking great. entail lights too. it involves north and southbound direction, looking fairly the same. also we have some construction, pennsylvania turnpike, in the westbound between bensalem and willow grove. the right and center lane is blocked. i will let you know when this clears. just use caution. give yourself some extra minutes. we were dealing with this yesterday and it did clear in the 5:00 o'clock hour. hopefully that is the case. for those who like hip-hop we have a jcole concert tonight. it starts at 6:30 susquehanna bank center so make sure to hit that up, i'm not going i

"eyewitness news" reporter jan carabao is live at the school with how officials are taking action jan good morning. >> reporter: nicole, good morning. there are no students here at west chester university right now so risk for exposure is limited, and school officials have already brought in experts to deal with the contaminated areas what they are doing right now is monitoring these areas to make sure that this bacteria does not return at a dangerous level. earlier this week when west chester university learned that one of the its employees was diagnosed with legionnaires disease school officials brought in experts to test the campus for contamination. a higher then acceptable level of legionella bacteria was found in the cooling towers of these buildings including the library and student union.

the school quickly sent out this memo to 1,000 employees. in it, officials say a remediation team has been hired to kill the bacteria over the coarse of two days. the letter went on to explain that the presence of legionella bacteria does not mean that a person will contract legionnaires disease. since the bacteria exists naturally in the environment people often receive low level exposure without contracting the disease. the bacteria also cannot be passed from person to person. people become infected bilge hailing the bacteria which causes lung infections like pneumonia. there have been 2200 reported cases of legionnaires disease nationwide since january. one hundred in new york city. >> this particular out break is under investigation. >> reporter: there have been 31 cases in the south bronx in the past two weeks. two people died including john rouse brother. >> i don't think it is common for an otherwise health five two-year old man to pass away

really, slowed down after that new york city investigation found that whole foods was over charging customers by miss labeling weight for freshly packaged food like fruits, veggies and deli meats. maybe millennials like living with mom and dad. study found 200 to april of this year, quarter of 18 to 34 year-old lived with their parents. that is more than during the height of the recent recession. a businessman in texas found his iphone that fell out of the plane and it is still working. ben wilson said he used an app to track the phone. it fell off a small app monday at 9300 feet. it landed in a texas pasture and he found it under a tree. i need to necessity if there was a case on that phone because i drop my phone from my pocket and it breaks. >> if there was a certain case, we need to rush out and get that because that is the best case ever, you know what i'm saying. >> reporter: to drop from a plane, just crazy. >> it still works.

jill thank you. 5:37 right now. investigators want a driver who may have witness aid crash that killed three people in the far northeast to come forward. you saw this story first on "eyewitness news" yesterday morning. police say that car packed with five young people, failed to negotiate a curve and hit a tree on red lion road ape sandmeyer lane. sabrina rhodes was one of the two teenage girls died along with a 20 year-old man. sabrina's aunt went back to that scene searching for closure. >> we are all young. we all make mistakes. we have all been there. i get it. i don't blame everybody. i just want you to know sabrina was an amazingly gorgeous young girl who had a bright future ahead of her. >> another passenger a 17 year-old boy remains in critical condition. police say that 19 year-old driver showed up to the hospital a few hours later with his clothes covered in blood. 5:38. rescue on the track, we are hearing from a local doctors who helped perform surgery on a patient under circumstances that were far from routine.

a man was hit by a freight train and the doctor was called into action. "eyewitness news" reporter diana rocco has details. >> reporter: einstein medical center er doctor melissa kahn got a 3:00 a.m. call. forty-six year-old man is stuck under a csx train near grant avenue and northeast philadelphia she was at home but with her emergency kit in her car she was prepared for anything. >> i am used to working on the ambulance and seeing different, unusual scenes. haven't necessarily had to crawl under the train to save somebody before. >> reporter: fire department was on the scene and assessed the situation. only way to free the man was to amputate his leg at the angle. >> fire department had tried to consider moving the train or lifting the train but there wasn't an option for that. >> reporter: doctor kahn and her collogue dr. gallagher have performed count list surgeries before but never in these conditions. the patient was heavily medicated and awake and this time their operating was

underneath the engine of the freight train. >> we crawled underneath the train on our bellies. we used scalpel to cut through some of the tissues and then two different types of saw toss cut through the bone. >> reporter: with tools in hand doctors had to climb up this steep embankment and on to the track under the train at that her of the morning it was more than 100 degrees while they were perform this surgery. it took about 40 minutes but the man was finally freed and taken to aria torresdale hospital. >> we were there trying to dot best thing for the patient so anytime we have a good outcome and by being able to get this patient out from underneath the train that seemed like a first step in the process of it being a good outcome. >> reporter: man lost his foot but quick thinking and resource full actions of these einstein doctors saved his life. in elkins park, diana rocco for cbs-3 "eyewitness news". check this out dash cam video catches moments when a man steals a police car crashes it and injuries that

police officer. the this is in texas. an officer attempted to arrest a man for driving a stolen car. well, that suspect took off jumping in the officer's patrol vehicle. the officer was able to hold on to the suspect as he was driving but was thrown from that car when it crash. suspect has been charged with aggravated assault on a police officer. we told but grumpy puppy yesterday, do you remember that? now we're meeting his owners just ahead plus this. i'm kevin frazier coming up tom cruz is back and not afraid to do his own stunts as he faces off with a team of deadly agents in mission impossible rogue nation. and california's historic drought now drying up bottles of wine, why vineyards say what is available may taste better. yes, might have to work out in their favor, we will have that story

here's a look at the headlines on cbs-3. a mother killed last night while her two-year old girl was inside the home. it happened around 11:00 on aramingo avenue in port richmond. a man was seen fleeing from that house. five-year old girl continues to recover in the hospital this morning after an abduction and beating in north philadelphia police say an intruder got to the window of her home tuesday night. he brought her outside beat her up and took off. that little girls mother and neighbor found her in the backyard. health offices are investigating leaning on airs disease at west chester university. university employee tested positive for that infection.

"eyewitness news" at reading terminal market where hundred community leaders elected officials, students, citizens remembered the 2009 white horse beer summit. last night's gathering allowed group to discuss challenging and solutions the question of race in america. well, historic drought in california, continues to take a toll on agriculture and now it is even affecting the wine industry. yeah. is there just not enough water to go around so wine makers are having to decide which grapes to keep and which they will sacrifice. now this means there is not as much wine to bottle. vineyards say the wine may actually taste better because of the dry conditions. so little is silver lining there. drought conditions in washington state are actually impacting this years apple

harvest. farmers there say crops are sunburned and rotted from the heat. this is the nation's largest producer of apples. that is a big deal. we are told to expect a much smaller crop this year. apples themselves will be smaller in size. so that is unfortunate, you know justin, we like our apples. can't get enough. >> i love apples, fall great time. i like honey crisp, that is my personal favorite. that is a popular one. lets talk about those drought conditions. earlier here in the delaware valley this year we did have drought conditions but we had a lot of rain in the month of june. we are looking g out west is the problem again that will impact that apple crop. much of california, in the exceptional drought conditions, that is the highest level for the drought situation here, it is really western half of the u.s., it just seen the dry conditions and that is the the trend over the past few years certainly they can use some rainfall. we did have some rain yesterday, it could take some of ours. those showers that came
