this. >> at the base of this tree, where three young lives were lost saturday dozens came to say good-bye toy transforming the scene no a memorial. there, silence only punctuated by sadness. >> to give us the courage that we need. >> police say their car, 2007 acura, was traveling in excess of 75 miles per hour, late wednesday night along sandmeyer lane in bustleton. the car hit a curb, lost control, and was cracked open. two girls, 17 year old sabrina roads, and yvette gonzalez, were ejected and killed, 20 year old philippe hernandez also died at the scene. driver of the vehicle walked away and later reported to the hospital with injuries. hernandez zest grandfather deacon, called it a moment to reflect and teach. >> we need to show our young people how dangerous this is. >> police continue to investigate what happened that night including the possibility of a second vehicle that may have been

present during the crash. but for now under this tree? >> mothers and fathers people who lost their kids, you know, just it is difficult. >> there was a fifth person in that car a young 17 year old man, also taken to the hospital with critical injuries suffering head trauma and still recovering, and police continue to search for the driver of second vehicle they say they saw on surveillance video. they hope to interview the occupants that far vehicle, as women. reporting tonight from bustleton, steve patterson cbs-3, "eyewitness news". police have 17 year old boy in custody who they say shot a ten year old boy in chester, delaware county. it happened at around 1:00 yesterday afternoon at the corner of west ninth and engel streets. police say the boy was shot in the stomach, he is in stable condition and it is not clear what led to that shooting. and, happening today football begins for the philadelphia eagles, team

back now with the latest on the deadly wave of wild fires out west. california is un a state of emergency, and fire fight remembers battling more than two dozen fires. one of those firefighter has died, and largest fire in the state, the so-called rocky fire, is generating enough smoke, it could even be seen from space. and that fire has burned some 50 structures, half of them homes, thousands of other are threatened and more than

fire in california's modeoc county. rule was from rapid city south dakota fire captain in the black hills national forest. he survived by a wife and two children. firefighters throughout the us have converged on california this week, more than 9,000 of them are battling flames as new fires break out and some like this one near nap a suddenly roar back to life. on friday, governor jerry brown, declared state of emergency, saying, the severe drought and extreme weather have turned much of the state into a tinder box. >> our main obstacle has been the weather and the terrain. >> lynn with call fire. she says conditions are as bad as it gets. >> triple digit temperatures, very low humidity, winds that are helping push this fire through really steep and difficult access type terrain. >> that was carter evans reporting, and justin obviously terrible situation out there. fortunately, we don't have

those casino of problems right now. >> no, and not getting any rain. i don't see that coming any time soon out on the west coast, so drought conditions are rough out there. even for us, we can use little bit of rain. should have little coming in our forecast, but talk about the drought condition out across the western part of the country. check it out. most of the count have i okay. but you go west, of the rockies, that's where we see that exceptional drought situation going on through much of the state of california. so that's why they're having all of these problems with the wild fires. again, no big storm systems coming in off the pacific. so again we will keep the drought conditions going. it has been like this real at this seems for the past few years or so. back home, though, headlight today, a loft sunshine, humidity levels stay low not too bad to be outside then later on this week, we are cooling things down, so if you are looking forward to that, wait few more minute, show you that in the seven day. sixty-five in trenton comfortable 71 in philadelphia, the warm spot, 70 in wildwood, 56 degrees, up in the poconos, and this hour. breeze coming in out of the west northwest off shore. very nice down toward the

jersey shore and delaware beaches, we are in the mid and upper six's this morning. that comfort index looks great. we look at the dew point temperature, watching there is a loft over the past several weeks, sometimes been in the mid 70s that's when you just want to be inside. right now 57 degrees, that's great for early august, call it pleasant, and it will stay like that through the day today. nice and quiet on storm scan3 high pressure over us. keeping our skies mostly clear. you will see few clouds developing later this afternoon. but overall lot of sun, temperatures do get to up about 90 degrees, it will be close, but i think we'll hit it. so deal with another day of this heatwave probably day six. here we go. tomorrow, different story though, up hide at this starts to increase, watch for the chance for thunderstorm late in the day and at night. >> this cold front approaches. and then finally by the middle of the week we start to drop humidity levels and bring down the temperatures. but today looks great outside. mostly sunny conditions. tonight little more muggy notice the humidity starts to increase monday, still decent amount of sunshine through the

surveillance video in the search for killer every young mother in port richmond. investigators tell us, that 22 year old stephanie was shot and killed in her own home late thursday night on 3,000 block of aramingo avenue. her two year old daughter was inside the house at the time, but not injured. >> this weekend residents in southwest philadelphia are learning about the importance of fire safety, on saturday, about 200 residents had free smoke alarms installed and they learned about the dangers of fires. it is all part of the no more fire death campaign, a partnership between the red cross and the philadelphia fire department. the goal is to eliminate fire-related death. experience add lot of tragedy in the city. we've also had a lot of successes. fire deaths have been down consistently. but they are still not at our goal. zero. people don't have to die in fire. the best way not to die is to
